I'm alright with it, but I really wish that it was anodized black, I would have been completely fine if that was the color. Hell, even grey would have been fine.
Hey there it’s pretty interesting. I’m wondering if this one came with a special flash drive that acts like a key like the last Asus acronym collaboration. What does the flash drive give you access too?
@@felixman9691 I think what you are referring to is the ROG Keystone. It is available for only certain ROG Strix laptops. It is a key that magnetically attaches to a special slot built into the laptop. When it is connected, it can apply certain Armory Crate profiles and unlock a hidden part of your drive. It does not provide any extra storage; it simply acts as a key to unlock a hidden part of your drive if you set that part up to be hidden.
First one I bought was riddled with issues, had to return it. I bought a second one to give it another try and this one is amazing. I'm getting the same, if not, better performance as the last model with the XGM 3080, except with better power consuption.
Well, the normal one has a small glass panel on the back to see some of the components. Yeah, it's pretty gamer styled but far from the RGB nightmare gaming laptops you'll see.
Interesting how people view this differently. I think it's the coolest back ever. I love that it's built like a tank and can be worn over your shoulder. I absolutely love the idea of an industrial-strength tablet that is as powerful as a desktop, and I get to bring my own custom-built keyboard. Laptops are done for me now.
This looks pretty similar to a case I have for my ROG Phone II (made by a third party). Aluminum, a bit bulky, but very protective and very sturdy lanyard attachment points. I'd use it more if it didn't block the phone antennas :P I honestly do like this: rugged, good mounting points... 10k time spy... I just have less use for a 13" screen and it's priced about $1000 higher than I'd like.
I enjoyed the review. I'm a long time ASUS ROG fan, I have one of their desktops (GR8II), but this device is way too over the top for me. Probably a generational thing.
I own a normal 2023 Flow Z13 with a 4050. It's an INSANELY capable machine and definitely a must buy "do-anything" device for college students with weird classes, lol. The software definitely could use some improvements, but as a DEVICE, ignoring the software it gets bundled with, it is incredibly powerful for the price. Only real improvement I could see being added is a cellular module. Wouldn't take up an insane amount of space.
When you think about it, this could easily replace your desktop, tablet and laptop in one swoop so when everything considered with Xg mobile this is kinda competitive if you were to buy a new desktop tablet and laptop at these performances.
i really liked the minimalistic and industrial look of flow x13 and feel like they should have continued that in flow z13 too. This is way too flashy and edgy.
First the fastest gaming phone in the world, then the fastest gaming handheld, now the fastest gaming tablet. Take gaming from any of them, and they outperform all those category tech products still
I actually love the design. Any dongle or dock recommendations to cover the lack of i/o? I will likely be using a mouse and mechanical keyboard and external monitor and game controller when at home
I am not still used to using the touchpad and keyboard, I have to use my trackball. Otherwise I get a lot of pain in the Deep transverse metacarpal ligaments. I dont do gaming anymore so not using "that potential" lets say but I do use heavy software such VMWare, AutoCAD
I'm very tempted to sell my original Flow X13 (35W 3050Ti) and PC (5900x+3080) just to switch to this machine. Performance wise it will not be as powerfull as full size 3080, but it is quite close.
Unfortunately, this is now sold out everywhere (except for hoarders trying to sell it for 2x the price on ebay). I cannot wait to see what they come up with for 2024 (hopefully around March/April)
The best thing about this (besides the insane back) is the fact that you can use your favorite bluetooth keyboard with your favorite switches. No more crappy OEM keyboard in your way.
The bulky corners deter me, but the milled aluminum wins me over in the end, super sexy IMO, could get used to the corners if they don't get in the way. However I need LTE, doesn't fit my use case without it.
Would be nice if they havent used the cheapest bluetooth Chip, that they could find. You cant even connect a Headset and the ps5 Controller at the Same time >.< but very nice Review, good Job
Really love how they improve this in many aspects but one thing they are still not improving is ports. I can’t believe they still offer only one TB4 port when it has so a powerful hardware inside. This GPU easily supports 3x 4k monitors but the ironic part is that it doesn’t even support 3x monitors via DP and HDMI even with their external dock with even more powerful GPU. If this thing comes with at least 2x TB4, I think I will consider it.
i think the appeal for this product is to be mobile. the fact they include the egpu connection will allow you to plug in all the extra monitors. but mobile first especially at that price point. you could just get a better laptop or build a desktop.
My Surface Pro 8 is designed to be mobile too. Having two TB4 ports or not is nothing to do with being designed for mobile or not. My point is, the hardware is so powerful that with the right ports, it gives a lot of flexibility in many areas, not just in gaming.
@@jimbobcheezeburger2020 yup because. TB4 can let me hook up to my eGPU, in which I have a 3070 that I am currently hooking up to 3 monitors all via DP, all 5120x1440 resolution, 2 @ 60Hz and 1 @ 100Hz
This actually matches my use case perfectly. Ive been trying to find something that i can use when i lay down on my bed, can code, can game. Can you think kf something else that can fulfill my use case?
did you get this device? how is it compared to the surface pro 9? i hear that the battery life is bad on rog z13 but then i hear that it can lasts 5-6 hours with regular uses ( not heavy load ) whereas surface pro 9 lasts 4-5 hours.
i cant believe they left it be 2230 sized only ssds....they should have changed it to fit 2280s also a 4070 at 65w?? for that ill take the 4060 or 4050 at that matter save my money and buy the 4090 external. they could have made the this with p processors like a 1370P processor which is very powerful and up the gpu power to 85/90w on the 4070 and gave us oled screen
Are the ports or the laptop IP rated and does it can it be connected to 4g, or is it Wi-Fi only? Apparently there is a less cluttered productivity keyboard availabe as well. What a beast and at $3000 US, i'm definitely considering the purchase over a new phone.
When I was looking at a new laptop earlier this year, it literally came down between the old ROG flow Z13 and the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio. I wanted something powerful but portable for my edditing on the go (and something to use as a tablet to replace my current one). Sadly the Microsoft Surface Lapotop studio just eeked out in the end due to its higher RAM and I am now KICKING myself seeing this. Looks aside, for a portable editing machine its on paper a bargain! Not one of these massive oversized 15-17 inch laptops that break your back. Really hope this kind of power becomes more standard in the hybird tablet/laptop world.
This is good to play on the go imo, but also to fix to a holder and play while lying in bed. Much better than a regular laptop, for this particular usage.
Almost got one of those till I did research. Not worth it for this one. If you're spending that kind of money just go up to the x16. Not much more and the 4070 in that one is much better and you still can upgrade ram.
I did the exact same thing. The nebular HDR miniLED 240Hz screen on the 2023 Flow X16 is a marvel to game on. Now if Asus put the Nebula HDR miniLED or OLED on the Acronym edition I would say the price would be justified.
Awesome device which is hard to find in some countries. I wonder is there a similar lightweight tablet with Geforce onboard? Maybe Chinese manufacturers sell something similar?
The ‘fashion’ designer case is polarising 🤔😱! I’d like a streamlined look myself 🤤💪👍. With such high pricing …. I’d have to look at the RTX4050 model as it can still do a little gaming on the side. Portability is the reasoning I feel for these 2 in 1 form factors. I also feel these are very niche products ….. but still have a good market and use for many 🥳👍.
I like the idea of tablets/laptops with wearable designs. It brings up so many possibilities to the table. That said, I'm not gonna hack pentagon in a bus on my way home nor am I gonna infiltrate an enemy base with my sick i9 rtx 4070 laptop as a soldier. I think I'll stick to the much cheaper, probably similar performance, base model Z14. You know, the one that is made for normal people. Z is my favorite lineup among all ROG. It's like ROG Mothership but actually daily drive material.
while this product is not for me, I take big issue with the fact that it's ips. The person who buys this is going to buy this specifically to game on a tablet. Otherwise they'd buy a gaming laptop. Celarly they don't plan on plugging it into a monitor often since it's a freaking tablet!
Where can I find this 4070 one I searched the whole Internet I only found 3050ti the older version and the 4060 rtx the 2023 version and is the most expensive one I found its like 2000 usd
Important question, Does it have a Sim card slot? LTE compatible or only used with WiFi? What if there's no WiFi connection available? As a digital nomad gadget that would be just carrying a piece of metal. Please if anyone knows the answer let me know.
