Nice video! I like that you explained your rationale for the different choices and offered alternatives. Your video quality has really improved a lot in the past month.
Fantastic build. Also fun with the RLS swapping the extra toughness node for Shock Trooper. You shred a trash mob and all your toughness is back with the dueling sword putting the smack down on heavy armor. It has a strong answer for everything and is super tanky. If you aren't trying to go to hard its also enhances play with the double barrel, pistol, and bolter. Plasma gun is king though.
Really solid build! I like those changes from your last upload. I think the dueling sword is a tad over-tuned at the moment - it just overshadows every other weapon in the game by doing everything the best (other than horde clear). Even though they're not as good, I still like the chainsword, combat axe, and shovel. Shovel bonk noises fill my heart.
I've been pushing out for blood forever nobody listened you make a video recommending it and "everybody already knew it was good" and still won't listen to me when I try to give off meta advice. My brain is going to explode.🎉
I cant tell you how many plasma vets I see running krak grenades its unbelievable. I can like 3 shot crushers in the face with my plasma gun and I dont even have carapace on it. Played with someone the other day who threw like 10 kraks all game cuz we both had plasms and everything unyielding and carapace was dead so he had no reason to use them. I also continue to see so many vets use grenade tinkerer for kraks and in turn not take survivalist and everyone just runs outta ammo lol. I always tell them having ammo in weapons is infinitely more useful than 5% damage but I dont guess they care to understand.
Hi Tanner. I struggle a bit with the plasma gun. Any tips for getting the hang of aiming it as it has a slightly delay after you fire or is it the case of just get good😂
There are so many times where i need toughness and im fighting a horde and just got a grenade back and shouts on cool down and i lob the grenade at my feet so i can see why out for blood is good. My grenade management is really good thanks to your videos so idk if i can go without demo team I may just cut that last point in specialist and take both the toughness and demo team cuz I need my nades lol.
I personally prefer thermal resistance to be my dumpstat as I really don't like the feeling of 60% chargerate. That's probably just a me problem with having gotten too used to the 80% chargerate timings but the 60 thermal resistance doesn't allow for more shots at 80% heat and firing either uncharged or charged shots. It absolutely allows for more uncharged shots building up from 0% to 100% heat but I try to stay at 80%+ heat as much as possible.
I cant imagine a world where having 60 charge rate matters. Playing with thermal resistance at 60 means you shoot less before you need to reload which obviously creates problems. Having low charge rate makes no difference in my eyes. Playing with a low thermal resistance is extremely noticeable from my time with it and I hated it before i started dumping charge rate.
@@infrared6973 It's fine if you can't, I certainly can. I tested it and having 80 thermal res. didn't change how many shots you get before you need to vent unless you go from 0 heat to 100 in one go, then you get one more shot (8 instead of 7). That's decent if you use blaze away (although you shouldn't) and it used to be good before the crafting update. Getting up to 80 heat and then shooting from there, having either 60 or 80 thermal res does actually nothing. I try to use both high heat blessings as much as possible and with that gameplan, thermal res doesn't matter while having 60 chargerate makes the gun feel a lot worse for me.
I tried 5% health on all three curios instead of toughness and it felt better, for me. I get matches where there's no sound queue for snipers and pox occasionally - so there's almost always situations where I get blind-sided at least once or twice during a match. The extra toughness doesn't feel impactful.
As someone sho has been using nothing but tje Combat Knife Mk III exclusively for pretty much my entire Darktide career, I'm finding it very hard using the Dueling Sword. The Knife feels so intuitive to use, like the Heavy Charge makes you move faster, useful for not only moving faster but also closing distances back towards enemies after something like a dodge back and other examples. You don't vet that with the Dueling Sword. The movement tech is a lot mlre awkward compared to the Knife, and you don't get a speed boost from charhing heavies. I felt so much mlre vunerable using tje Sword over tne Knife. I can het jsed to it eventually for sure, but miss my easy movement tech and dodge distance.
I ran this build as a newb with a revolver, I wanted to basically be salspire from vermintide games, switched to others once I got experience and then came back to it with the plasma.
Hello, I’m new for game but videos like this helps to understand game and etc. but I have stupid question I see a lot “meta veteran” “meta zelot” videos, but there is meta ogryn?))
It’d be cool to see you upload some other builds that are also really good but may not be “meta”. I like min maxing my stats and using the best set ups but it’s nice to change it up just for fun every now and then. My bad if you already have I only recently started watching
Hi Tanner, a few questions: 1. Why not use 10% crit damage perk on plasma gun instead of flak damage? As you said with weapon specialist, you will have a guaranteed crit so it would increase the overall damage. 2. Relating to the plasma gun, is there any instance where you would use the braced shot instead of the regular shot? 3. Would it be worth it to take the ogryn and monstrosity damage talent from middle after the toughness? You could change it from the last talent of the weapon specialist for example.
1. Plasma gun is not a great finesse weapon and would not scale as well with crit damage to make it worthwhile. 2. I would assume not, not for damage at least. It takes 3 regular shots to equal the one that the charged shot spends in ammo. The only thing the charged shot is truly better at is stagger. 3. That's a good talent if you can fit it in. Doesn't look easy to get on this build and you'll have to make some decent trades.
1. Crit damage perk isn't as good as it sounds because it only increased the bonus crit damage, not the total weapon damage on a crit. With the plasma gun, I think the crit bonus is only 25% damage or something like that (don't quote me, that's just what I remember from looking at it months ago). So 10% increased crit damage on a weapon with 25% crit bonus damage is only giving you 2.5% more total damage on crit attacks, and if your crit chance is say 50%, that's only giving 1.25% average DPS. Having +25% damage against an armor type is way better. If crit damage perk affected your total damage on crits, then it would be worth considering (maybe). 2. Braced shot on plasma is useful for killing a bunch of armored enemies in a line. If you have a whole blob of crushers/maulers/scab ragers coming down a corridor it's probably worth doing some charged shots at them. I think hipfire is better in every other situation though. 3. I pretty much always take Bring It Down, but Vet has so many good nodes that you're making a tradeoff taking one thing over another. He mentioned that he's not taking Confirmed Kill even though he wants it, and he's having to choose between +25 toughness and Demo Team. You can make several variations of this build just moving a 2-3 points around here or there depending on your preference.
10% crit dmg is only 10% more on the crit portion of the damage 25% flak is 25% *base* dmg. 25% flak does more dmg versus flak than 10% crit. And you only need flak dmg.
@@effigy4541 Thanks for the reply, indeed then crit damage sucks big time. I thought it would increase the total damage of the crit. I wonder why fatshark hasn't implemented tooltips into the game and explain what each of the stats and unit types mean. There's so many misconceptions related to talents, blessings and perks.
If I remember it right. In one of recent vids you have mentioned that chainsword is in top 5 vet melees. However there's just a void about it in credible resources. May I ask what makes it good and how to craft it properly?
I like this build but man I'm tired of using the plasma gun and dueling sword lol Can you recommend a autogun build? I used to use it when starting out and miss clearing waves
Hey Tanner, would you mind going into why you prefer +5% Toughness now even over Stamina Regen. You used to suggest Stam Regen on ervery Curio every build (which I second) and used to say that +5% is not enough to make any noticeable difference (15% all together in fact)....?
The extra toughness, which is taken x3, so it's +15% toughness, is boosting that toughness return from the 25 toughness node he's talking about. It's basically increasing the effectiveness of the toughness engine which is now based off of Out for Blood and can be used via horde kills. The return on investment is much bigger doing it this way.
it is not the last time for I still demand an Ogryn meta build and an in depth and detail analyse of the ogryn talentree like you already did for the lil ones. - don't tell me I am askin for too much
Hes gonna say to use the ripper gun and I hate the ripper gun. Im on console i cant control that damn recoil to save my life. Ive been using the grenadier gauntlet alot here lately and I love point blank barrage with a karsolas. He will play with the big man one of these days and then he will truly understand how fun it is.
Tested it, and interesting build but the survivability is pretty low imo. especially now when the games seems to regularly spawn up to 5+ snipers at a time and huge squads of gunners or shotgunners (did this change?) in just normal auric maps. Think I am gonna tweak it with some resistances., see how that works.
Didn't realise out for blood increasing toughness on kill can bring a ranged/grenade kill that gives 0 to now 5%. From the wording I thought it would just give 5% more to melee kills and maybe confirmed kill, which made it sound super meh.
Really good guide ,i think instead of nerfing good weapons buffing bad weapons would be a great choice from fatshark bcs some builds are just too good to not play, like why should i play any lasgun or shotgun they are so weak compared to plasmagun
is there any case for taking precognition over riposte? +60% finesse damage is a lot of finesse damage. Notably, this lets you sidestep mutants and then just poke them in the head for a 1 shot Yeah, ur losing 20% crit chance, but even without it ur crit chance is still ~40%, and it means when you DO crit or headshot its gonna deal a lot more damage if the buff is active.
That cooldown quirk is an interesting observation, if the game has a double error (once in the calculation of the number, and once in how it actually starts ticking down), that suggests CDR reduces every cooldown by 1-2 seconds more than you'd expect. Which is insane on lower cooldown skills like Shroudfield.
Im basically a plasma main and my shot with plasma is way better than other weapons. I play with the assault reticle so maybe that could help you. Im good with it cuz i have alot of time with the weapon but its not like I never miss I just sway back and forth or stand still till I hit my target. I usually hit the awkward snipers in like 3 4 tries if I do miss. I dont even like the revolver nowadays and i despise helbore on console. I much prefer plasma but you definitely have to be precise but part of the reason why I love the weapon. The fact that you cant ads is a cool mechanic in my eyes.
You need to not sperg put and roll through the tree at something less the x2 speed or picking it apart and then launching off for 2 minutes about something else then skipping forward
Huh. I didn't notice that before about out for blood. I thought it was like zealot blood redemption but its just 5% on any kill. Doesn't matter how you get the kill, its just 5% of toughness. It doesn't have that toughness over time thing confirmed kill has but I can't say that isn't interesting. I think I would want demo team to pick up cheap kills all the time. I kind of want to try it out. Its lacking the toughness damage reduction from close order drill. I know that's relying on coherency and I don't give much of a shit about coherency but just playing normally you're not that far apart a lot of he time a. In duos you get even less of coherency. And I'm willing to let my game assigned clowns die in a normal run. Yeah I'm going to try that out. Not the plasma but some other gun.
People complain about the plasma gun as if us vets cant use other weapons. I usually run a MK VII shovel and here lately ive been running a recon lasgun build and I also like using the braced autogun. I havent even been using yhe dueling sword on vet cuz i hate the horde clear which is why my plasma builds use the shovel cuz I one shot everything thats not a crushers anyway. If the plasma gun was such an ultra broken amazing weapon you would see them in every lobby and you dont cuz its a single shot weapon and many people dont like how clunky it is. I see more columnus in my games than anything cuz people love their automatic weapons.
@@TannerLindberg i played with a vet the other day who was using blaze away and I was hitting way more breakpoints than him. Rising heat is way better and especially for those one off shots you blast out real quick when your at like 90 heat after using your melee weapon to melt some trapper coming around the corner.
Jesus, don't call for the nerf of one of the most fun weapons in the game, FS will fuck it up and make it shit. Consider adding a Recon/IAG Onslaught alternative build and making an updated Zealot and Psyker meta analysis that goes into Trauma, Gunpsyker and Electro (with animation cancelling).
Good thing bad thing, huh? Build is nice and all that, but i kinda fail to see the good thing about the best veteran build being essentially a "pseudo-zealot". Something gone wrong somewhere on Fatshark's end ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
being good at clearing mobs is the most important part of any build, that won’t ever change in a horde focused game. melee has infinite ammo, so ya can’t go wrong making that a focus.
@@ShupperDupper i don't know, i feel like zealoting the veteran shouldn't be the required and correct answer to the proposed issue surely you can entertain the notion that a min maxed veteran should have little bit more of its own flavour
Veteran's melee damage is the best in the game. Vet is not "the ranged class"; it's the "Big Weapon Damage class", with both melee and ranged. Zealot's thing is mobility and survivability. There's nothing wrong here.

Who's the best players you know that I can also watch?
Telopots
@@TannerLindberg Mr E. giving you the side-eye right now lol
No kill confirmed?
Thats bold... 😮
How do you get sainted weapons? you're the only creator I've seen with them
its a mod it doesnt change anything gameplay wise
The tanner nice arc was not on my 2024 bingo list
You need to not sperg put and roll through the tree at something less the x2 speed or picking it apart and then launching off for 2 minutes about something else then skipping forward
2 days later: "first look at weapon specialist veteran build"
Space wizard build pls
How many people are gonna run this now? ) We will see) And how soon fat shark fix this
Can you make the UI bigger? I can almost see the enemies
what are the sainted weapons ?
what armor set is that?
Hello. Monetize... ya silly Billy.
God loves you all and has a plan for your life
was sure he would redo it
nice ;)
Psyker video when? 😠😠
Another 36 Veteran video uploads, 20 Zealot, 1 Ogryn, then the Psyker.
:)
People complained about that build under the latest Reginald video, like "NERF NOW!!! It steals our gameplay, DS and plasma are crutch"
Im glad the builds i make are being complained about for being to good :D
@@TannerLindberg i played with a vet the other day who was using blaze away and I was hitting way more breakpoints than him. Rising heat is way better and especially for those one off shots you blast out real quick when your at like 90 heat after using your melee weapon to melt some trapper coming around the corner.
Tf are sainted equipment
I despise the way this man pronounces some of these words
Jesus, don't call for the nerf of one of the most fun weapons in the game, FS will fuck it up and make it shit. Consider adding a Recon/IAG Onslaught alternative build and making an updated Zealot and Psyker meta analysis that goes into Trauma, Gunpsyker and Electro (with animation cancelling).
They need to nerf smite.....
Great video, even better than the original. Keep it up Tanner! 🤍
Melee always has to be fallen back on at some point. The better the melee, the more situations you can handle. (Especially hordes)
@@ShupperDupper i don't know, i feel like zealoting the veteran shouldn't be the required and correct answer to the proposed issue
surely you can entertain the notion that a min maxed veteran should have little bit more of its own flavour
Veteran's melee damage is the best in the game. Vet is not "the ranged class"; it's the "Big Weapon Damage class", with both melee and ranged. Zealot's thing is mobility and survivability. There's nothing wrong here.
