eBay has been surprisingly useful for me after not really using it much for 10 years. used to buy motorbike bits on there all the time... just installed a cheap ebay radiator in my car (206) after a plastic crack started while driving back from the GC. and yeah, those clips are annoying with pliers. forgot about the multigrips sitting in the toolbox. kept the same crappy hose though...
When you're trying to get stuck brake pistons out of the calliper, just put a bolt in the hole where the flex line went en put a grease gun on the bleed nipple. Way easier and works every time.
Love the content just seeing you guys having fun. Essential comparisons must be: - Who has the longest (exhaust) pipe - Who has the most rubbage due to excessive lows - Whose engine bay has the biggest opportunities for losing 10mm into the abyss
There's only one challenge with wagons to see which is best.. The ease of which you can grab a can from the eski in the boot and pass them to each passenger without taking ya belt off..
I enjoy this style of car modding. Affordable, fun and different. Everyone trying to get maaad views ends up becoming something totally different than when they started. You two are a refreshing pair of 'regular' car guys
On the contrary - I'd say watching you guys work on your own cars is the best content! And would love to see more of it, you're able to take a few more liberties and when you've got a vested interest in the projects.... It's a good different 😁 loving the direction you guys are taking the channel and how good the production is getting!! Keep up the good work gents 👌
I love these comedy skit intros. They're friggin hilarious. edit: Speaking of which, seeing the differences between the two cars - Who can fit more bogans in their longroof ?
I fitted an IS200 water pump to my mate's GZ20 Soarer, I had to grind the housing a little to fit under the timing cover but it fit well. From memory there were 2 different IS200 water pumps and they look completely different to each other.
3:33 if you put a little bit of petroleum jelly on the inside of the clip before installing it, it never sticks, it's always easy to remove, and it also keeps the rubber a bit protected from the metal. I've been using this trick for a decade now and it's never failed me. Not my idea, shop teacher i used to know learned me.
Good work 👍 Did you try Toyota dealer in aus for the hoses and pipe, I'd seriously try them You'd be surprised what you can still buy new from dealers 😁 Plus most times can be cheaper than aftermarket Plus you know it will fit correctly Edit, try Toyota Dealer for your cambelt and water pump etc Why you not buy an Aussie made radiator ? Those eBay radiators are cheap for a reason 🙃
Buddy of mine made an adapter plate that bolts into that style of axle to use a port-a-power to push stuck axles out, granted you have to be able to get one side out to use it, worked a treat for doing wheel bearings on the old Hilux axles.
Having had several wagons and 5 kids, the first test is to put a pram in and see how much luggage can still fit in. Second is reverse parallel parking, lastly how long the battery lasts when the kids turn on the rear reading lights and you don't notice.
Is there a particular reason the similar toyota engine family has the top radiator hose going across the cams instead of direct drivers side to outlet?
hey a dude working at a subaru dealership here :) to get the caliper to free up I usualy take a pipe wrench and put it on the end and turn it around while bushing on it with a long bar :) ofcors it dosent always work without warping the piston :)
I had a 1GGEU in a Celica XX GA61, it was a great motor, revved to the moon and sounded amazing. I ran it low on oil and the head seized up.. I ended up putting a 1GGTE in it. The car is up in QLD now as far as I know, it was two tone silver.
How many different wheels and tyres can you fit in the boot? Because those cars are the perfect as pit vehicles when you go and skids on definitely closed courses
Was just thinking could have maybe left that one end of the axle in the rust dissolve if it would have fitted? Did like the effort out into getting it moving
As a child , my family owned at least two station wagons . I was always the runt stuck in the very back seats of the no A.C. wagon. If i never ride in a station wagon again , it will be too soon . It made me very bitter . Lol
Old boss once told me, use a grease gun to remove caliper pistons, even with stuffed seals or ceased pistons it works a treat 👌🏻 uses a bit of grease but doesnt damage anything
You could free up that axle if you just soaked the whole hub in the rust remover. Just let it sit for like a week. Should come right out. If not, you can drill an access hole in the axle tube, and pour in some of the rust remover. Attack from both sides.
@@theskidfactory Had one of those once. Got a bit of old bar that was smaller than the inside of the spines, fed it though the other side of the axle, and used a hydraulic gear puller to press against the axle though the diff. Cracked the welds clean off the pumpkin and pulled the axle tube out. Ended up cutting the guts out of the diff with a angle grinder. The real kicker, after cleaning up the welds, the tube when back in, and nothing was out of wack. Didn't even bend the flange with the puller.
a simple way to pop the pistons is with a grease gun. Just remove the push on tip, the thread on the hose will then fit most calipers and with an adapter if not. Used mine yesterday to pop out two from a 40 year old Suzuki.
Another thing you can do for old calipers is use a grease fitting and grease gun, they run a heeeap of pressure and due to the thick grease dont explode in a biolent manner when they let go 👌
The light means the clutch on the SC is engaged. Look for a smaller balancer, you'll get 14psi out of it easy, I got over 17 in my AW11 with a sc14 from a Previa
I want to know if the Crown jzs171w athlete v has a locking diff from the factory. I'm very interested to know this since I've been thinking about getting one as a daily
Hey guys, if you can’t get a water pump, maybe a Davies Craig electric pump. Then manufacture an aluminium blanking plate with an welded on inlet tube. Good lathe and mill project
watching you guys play with crowns makes me miss my jzx110. .... then i started looking. maybe 2012 Athlete....I wanna see if the Hybrid v6 is any good tho.
got my (GS131 supercharged) timing belt and tensioners via amayama. waterpump was too elusive though. i did wonder if it could be rebuilt with 1g-ge pump seals but i dont know.
You should transplant a 1GFE Beams (Altezza/IS200) then use the rods and pistons from this supercharged engine in it, then turbo on top. aswell as the 6 speed gearbox to make it manual (the is200 sport has a torsen lsd and much better gearratio by factory) It would be supergood, not expensive at all, and alot of fun to watch and follow as a project.
Woody, wouldn't a waterpump from a 1GFE fit? I'm fairly certain they share the same block as them.. Of which case.. Any is200/as200 water pump would be correct theoretically..?

Yes, they're Cheap but they WORK! Who doesn't like saving some $$$

When are you putting the OM606 in it?
try a davies craig electric water pump

5psi worth of skids... in comfort. Nice one Woodrigos
Hello absolute legends. Can you guys do something together again? Last time was an absolute blast! :D
Headroom challenge, which Crown can you wear the tallest Crown in. 👑
Aww, posted mine before seeing this!
When you're trying to get stuck brake pistons out of the calliper, just put a bolt in the hole where the flex line went en put a grease gun on the bleed nipple. Way easier and works every time.
Putting wood in the calliper as pads whilst still attached to the hub works a treat aswell.
Is even easier when not flopping about on a table.

That mango tree has been quite productive for old JDM Toyotas if I remember correctly you found the MR2 under it as well.
I also found a nice 4.5M tinny under it too!
@@theskidfactory Geez, I think I'm gonna have to plant a mango tree
Test how quick you both can put the back seats flat 👍
Are water pumps available for barra's? Timing chains?
also... will that fit on a honda?
Challenge: Find the tightest, most rediculous Mcdonalds drive through and whoever can make it through without curbing a wheel.
Knowing these boys, it'd be KFC...
Kedron KFC's drive through is a piece of garbage, I vote that.
The loser has to eat the Maccas food. ( the thought is enough to make anyone sick )
Nambour maccas.. has it hands down on the coast

It looks mint 👌

I love your slow and warm videos, when you just repairing, modding cars and having fun messing with cars)
LONG ROOF CAMPING SPECIAL!!!!!!!!!! Be the best 4WD show on the internet and take the crowns camping.

Skid Factory: All Crowns all the time 👍
I am just so happy to see some wagon love. Save the wagons!
Used to buy 1GGE's for $195. When 3TGTE's were $595 delivered. Ahh they were the days... (Weekly wages were around $250 and fuel was 62c!)
On the contrary - I'd say watching you guys work on your own cars is the best content! Park up the crowns on Hastings street and get random people to pick their favourite.😂
Cool wagon guys - I hope no barra on this cool old rig.
Roger is looking like a handsome young lad!
I love these comedy skit intros. They're friggin hilarious.
edit: Speaking of which, seeing the differences between the two cars - Who can fit more bogans in their longroof ?
Hey woody, Lexus is200 1gfe vvti water pump should fit onto your 1ggze. Also I've got a bunch of 1GGTE Parts that fit on your gze if you need any.
It will fit a GTE timing case but not the GZE unit unfortunately.
Killer info!! props!!
I fitted an IS200 water pump to my mate's GZ20 Soarer, I had to grind the housing a little to fit under the timing cover but it fit well. From memory there were 2 different IS200 water pumps and they look completely different to each other.
The medieval axle removal attempt...... gold absolute gold...... if it was successful it would have been epic.
I couldn't think of any witty challenges, but I can now head over and see what, challenges you came up with 😁
Love seeing a classic back on the road, great work lads.

lol, i feel like we hear hundreds of these clever little hacks, but forget nearly all of them..
Grease press is really good for getting pistons out from calipers, bit messy but very effective
You should drive around with Roger in the back of both cars and see which one makes him barf first.
Looking at woody on the end of that sledge, they must call him lightning!
🎵 there ain't nothing like a Crown, for boostin it up, an layin rubber down 🎶
Usually a bit messy, but I screw a grease nipple into the callipers and push the pistons out with the grease gun. Works 100%
Best intro yet, family loved it. Keep it up boys
Those crowns deserve a cross country roadtrip. Sleep in it, bring the grommet, camp on the roadside, tell jokes around a campfire..
Good work 👍
