The LiDAR Range Finder on my Ronin 4D is AMAZING!! I am looking at adding this to my RS3 Pro rig. This is an absolute game changer and a must-have for any videographer.
I would love to see this being sold as a standalone FIZ system that can be mounted to multiple rigs for higher-end and heavier packages similar to the Redrock Micro Eclipse or Nucleus Nano M
@Djitutorials, a stand alone version of the LiDAR focus system which has it own interface would be awesome. It will help those that work on documentaries and music videos but prefer to use cinema lenses and cameras like Arri.
Really pleased with the lidar/rs3pro but is there anyway to kill the auto focus when the subject leaves frame? Focus holds on subject but then when they leave frame, it instantly pings to the background, when in many instances it would be better to just stay put.

I have the ronin rs3 pro and the Lidar range finder. The remote focus selection should be an app. All modern Sony and Canon cameras, some which cost less than than just the rangefinder unit, have this ability from their apps. I'm not going to buy all this other gear, the rangefinder was an accessory I initially thought was included and am still reeling a bit from the purchase since the active tracking has issues and this tech is already hitting the consumer market for under $100. I fail to see a good use case except for either vintage lenses or expensive cinema lenses, or if theres a very particular manual lens you want to use for a project. I have Samyang XP F1.2's and they do look great but I find having to get up and reach the gimbal to reset active track or switch focus object on this little screen to be impractical for any type of self blogging work. Also as a tall person I have to scrunch down to see the screen on the gimbal if Im holding it if I were doing on location shooting. I feel like for the money we should be getting a whole lot more.
What is the LIDAR type (wavelength, power, and pulse rate)? I can't find any information on that. Is it safe for the eye assuming frequently shotting one human subject? Thanks.

I have a DJI RS 3 Pro and an a7iii. I film with a Sigma 24-70. I control the zoom with the gimbal while filming. Question: Does the Lidar system also work if you have a standard zoom lens on it and change the focal length?
if your camera is an old one like the GH4, can you use an adapter to connect the Lidar to the camera? The GH4 has USB mini...so I thought I could use a female USB C to USB mini adapter.....Please let me know what you think

Is there a way to adjust the speed of the focus motor? What if I don't want it to ease into the focal point rather than spin super fast and find it immediately?
What amount of power does the focus motor need to power separate from the gimbal? My VMount says it is delivering 5.2 but I'm getting a red light on the follow focus motor and not a green light.. Thx.
@@muen1842 trying this combo now. The 3D Focus printed hard stop ring and the sigma 18-35. The motor seems to just want to keep spinning when it gets to the bottom hard stop during the lens calibration process. Any tips?

Can lift 30kg and fly 120kph with unlimited range using phone towers and hybrid tech (fuel and battery) plus magnetic on the fly recharge system. -> yes, I am a R&D nerd working for the military. So, I build and program lots of stuff. My drone has nanocarbon with self healing. 20x stronger than carbon fibre and at temps over 15deg C and bang and it warps back into form.. like T-1000 but slower. at 30 deg C it happens fast. Anyway, this is a bargain and I want it... as to help my harpoon system target snakes near my house :D
I got this today and am banging my head on the table because I did everything in the video and it does nothing. It shows the box on the head and even shows the range when walking away and forward but does not move the focus motor one bit. What am I doing wrong?

Is it true that it has only 3 presets?! Only one question... WHY????? WHYyyyyy... Why not 50, why not 1000 profiles... How many kb does this profiles weight?! Even if megabites, it is just no words... Just why, it is just stick in the wheel, why should I want to buy expensive lidar and pair it with expensive gimbal to use only 3 lenses or calibrate it every single time I want to change a lens. Just make it 1000 profiles, if you physically can't, make it 100 profiles....
Your video is not for beginners. All explanations start from the middle. Not a word about how to connect to the camera first. And then everything doesn't make sense. I will look for something else, a clearer explanation.
When I am tracking someone's face the LiDAR winds up with the image from the video camera only capturing the bottom half of their face. The LiDAR shows it's tracking their whole head, but when it's a lens that has a narrow field of view compared to what the image on the back of the RS3 Pro is showing I have this problem. What can I do to fix this?

As an FYI, if I cannot obtain a solution in a few days I will have to return the RS3 and the LiDAR sensor before the refund window closes. Would much rather get a response on how I can fix this though.
Just buy a Sony FX3 with active track. Its world class. This lidar sucks if trying to rig it with Pocket 6k on SR3 gimbal and full of issues even after firmware updates. Firstly, biggest issue is that it cannot power its self and relies on 7-14v. Just more crap to add onto your rig. A serious huge flog from DJI. It took me days of trying to fix issues and rig properly until I realized the power issue. Like come'on.

Why not make the LiDar compatible with the RS2 gimbal via a firmware update? Shouldn't have to go out and buy a brand new gimbal for this to work.

Not having lidar available for RS3 is like a knife in back for regular RS3 users. I have pull focus and raven eye and yet cannot use this. Thanks.

1. Yes, you should! Power supply with lidar is about 2hours. 2. You can't use Raveneye and lidar at the same time.

Is it possible using with non cinema lenses, for example EF canon lenses?
Yes. If you have a cine gear attached. You can find 3d printed ones at places like 3dfocus. I have my sigma 18-35 working just fine

Does utilizing it alone gives us the opportunity to calibrate from scratch ? Like using it without having the DJI RS3 Pro at all
Unfortunately it requires the gimbal for calibration. Then we can use it separately

I agree. They should have atleast had the option to backup profiles on your phone or PC to load later.
Is it possible to add manual Focus start and end points ? When you use a Non Cinema lens?
you can set them with any lens, I use older Canon FL glass with no problems

#1, before you do anything, update FW on both RS3 and lidar, otherwise it doesn't work
