Looks like Monty is part woodpecker! LOL I didn't know that broken clouds have stronger UV rays than a clear cloudless day. Thank you for a very well thought out video!

I recently lost both of my budgies due to putting them outside in a windy day and the cage falling over, wish I would have known some of this information sooner. Thanks for sharing so that others don't have the same fate

I'd have ptsd if that happen to my feather family and would have eaten the damn cat- nothing against cats but they are my family so it's a very offensive situation.

Such great tips ❤️. I remember years ago (when I was a teenager) my friends and I headed to wasaga beach...the day we went was warm but overcast....when we got home we were lobsters 😳. That was when I learned about UV rays going through clouds 😂🥺. I bring my birdies outside sometimes too....but I need a new transport cage because my doves cage is way too big and my carrier just fits them without much room to do much 😕. I need an outdoor avary for sure

Thank you Donna! This was such a practical and important video for bird owners. I really like your point about using zip ties or other metal fasteners to prevent doors on the bird cages from being opened by others or by the birds themselves. We want to keep our bird companions happy healthy and also safe!

Wow; lots and lots of great tips on taking the birds outside safely. I never realized all the factors that need to be considered for the birds to be able to enjoy the outside. I watched the video 3 times and counted up 27 things that I had not considered when taking birds outside. Enjoyed seeing your birds; they look great. Do you have any birds that you do not take outside ?

Hello Donna, very informative video.I no longer own my own home but if i did i would do exactly what you do as iam extremely careful.I even tape the carrier besides locking it but i like the little ring clips and ties that you use better. When my bird is out in my home in the warmer mos., i put my blinds down but leave them open.I always worry that if my bird were to fly to the screen it could be capable of falling out of the window..Much better safer then sorry..I would always worry about hawks and do not care for most hawks, with the exception of the Ospray as i read they do not go after birds..Donna , you leave nothing to chance and your birds are sooo happy and show it.My Stormy is having a hatchday today he is 8 yrs old. Thanks again Donna!!!

I mean I am not the best bird owner however I keep my birds in a outside shed made of wood and if it’s a hot day I will keep the door of the shed open and the door of my house open to make sure no cat comes and a also like in the video I use zip ties since my birds are very active and can easily open the door.(it wasn’t my decision to keep them in the shed it was my parents because apparently they make to much mess) but I meet them for 2-4 hours a day) and sometimes I get them out.

i think my budgie cannot be recall trained 'cause she is kind of an independent bird she is very tamed and also hangs out with me but when i try to recall train her on day 1 she will be a little bit interested and other day she will ignore it (BTW i constantly change positions to not make her bored of the same position) so if u think she can be recall trained guide me (Still i don't think so, she really is kind of independent when she comes by herself she will stay for a long time and then leave 'cause i also have other budgies and when I bring her by myself she stays for like 3 minutes) i have been trying this for 2 months

I have a harness for my King Parrot. He doesn't mind putting it on. Harnesses are okay as long as your bird is okay with wearing them.

Important detail that I am really surprised not anyone has seemed to mention, what about air born insects?? Fleas, lice, ticks
    ??
Plus flies and mosquitos can carry diseases and also parasites.
If you keep your dogs outdoors then you certainly get them.taken to the vet for shots, flea protection, etc.
Also of course you have the irresponsible people whom let their cats put- totally AGAINST- and we have enough of that amd strays.

I just have a Bourke's parakeet. She has a "camp cage" (we use it while we are traveling, when she goes to my friend's house for "summer camp") and I bring her out whenever the weather is nice. I also have a backpack carrier and I take her with me just about everywhere when the weather is not terrible. Thank you for these videos!

i just have a really big aviary with 4 cockatiels split in 2 which ive designed so that if it gets cold they can enter the other half of the cage where its basically closed to any wind and cant get cold in there

it's only 'a lot of work' if you have many cages to bring out. for the most part these are all really simple tips for bird owners to move a cage outside responsibly. Of course she does this every time she takes them out, she made videos last summer figuring out her aviary. It also depends where people live. some places have consistently warm temperatures, but in Canada things can change from hour to hour so you have to keep a close eye on what is going on.
