  • While your budgie is safe at home, the wilderness does not assure him that kind of protection. The moment you release him (or he frees himself) into the wild, a variety of ferocious predators await him.

    I live in a village in the Italian countryside. Today we had a buzzard 😱 trying to get through the garden window as it saw my budgies! We never had this before...It was a terrifying experience for the budgies and myself! Can you imagine if they were to escape in the wild?! No chance to survive! This video is very useful, thank you and it should be shown to all budgies owners as a must watch!

    Very informative video and a very important topic to talk about. Although I think a change of the video name might be in order because as it reads now it suggests that: you are releasing budgies outside to die. Which is a complete opposite to the message you wish to share with us but I think it might catch people by surprise or bring in some unwanted attention. I think a disclaimer such as: Important topic to talk about: Releasing Budgies Outside do Die - could straighten it out a bit. Sorry if I come across as nosy but my heart skipped a beat when I saw the video name before my brain realized WHO is it that is posting this and that it would never ever happen :D

    • @alenaxp
      @alenaxp  Год назад +10

      well, that was the point! To get attention. Sadly, I got messages, That I should release my own budgies outside, to be free. That is insane! Releasing Budgies outside is the death penalty to them. Keeping budgies safe and healthy is my main priority, as other my pets. Wish you all the best! Take care!

    My cousins conure once ended up flying out of the house probably a door was left open by someone else in the house for a few seconds and he escaped. My cousin went to find him and found him at their local park. He was never the same, he was a very calm nice bird before and then he became an aggressive bird but he loves my cousin because my cousin rescued him. Yes house birds are not meant for the wild.

    When my neighbors found a blue budgie on their driveway he was in a state of near complete exhaustion. It was a joy to bring him into our home. He is a great companion for the budgie l already have. I urge people not to release a budgie into the wild! My Bluie was extremely lucky! An animal shelter or bird Sanctuary can be contacted if for any reason a bird can no longer be kept at home.

    Here in Spain, they have banned the sale of parakeets and all domestic pets, I'm glad because many people let birds escape because they don't know how to take care of them, when I go to the store there are many photos of lost birds and I don't like that, Most of them are bought for the elderly to keep them company or children in which they are neglected and lose them, When there was the pandemic, I rescued a parakeet that was on the street where I live doing a typical budgie song, I heard it and as soon as I saw it I went out for it, It hurt me a lot to see him out there, I couldn't keep it so I took it to the store and she said she would see if the owner came or if he didn't give it to his partner.

    My nextdoor neighbour has budgies outside, minus temperature to high temperature, they've endured well, I think we put too much emphasis on heat and cold, now if you're putting your bird out in snow, that's a different story. Flight training can stop budgies flying off into the unknown

    • @neelubird
      @neelubird Год назад

      Some budgies can learn to adapt to living together in the same cage and befriend each other but there are cases in which budgies simply wont get along no matter how hard you try because one will be more dominant and bully or frighten the other. Even on this channel, Alen had to keep Cookie in a separate cage because he really couldn't adjust to living in the same cage with other budgies, although most of the other budgies seem fine with living together in the same cage.

    On my way home today, I saw a budgie on the sidewalk while I was driving. I parked and went to her. She came to me. And is clearly well trained/tamed. I am making effort to find her owner in case she was lost accidently. I understand that things can happen. But if I can't find her owner, she will have a good and safe home with me.

    At most some would surviveif they escaped in Australia and if they find a flock of wild budgies. But if they have non-green colouration, they will be easily hunted down. In colder countries they won't survive the winter

    I can't believe there are people out there thinking it's O.K. to release a domesticated pet budgie outside. If they want their pet/s to die that's the surest way to have that happen. Even wild budgies struggle to survive in the Australian outback, their natural habitat. Budgies don't live in snowy environments, only semi-arid outback areas of Oz. Wild budgies only live about an average of 2 years due to predators like Wedge-Tailed Eagles, feral cats and Goannas (huge reptile lizards). Gift the dear little budgies to someone who will look after them properly. They are a very friendly, chatty & social animal. Even the wild budgies are curious about people and will sometimes alight on cars to peer into the interior....happened to me.😊🐨🦘

    is not ''hard'' for a domesticated bird to survive being released, its almost impossible.
    most bird's survival techniques are behaviors learned from the parents, these birds dont have that, they may not even be afraid of cats if they were living with one, may not be afraid of birds of prey,
    they dont know they even have to search for food, they are used to food magically appearing in their cage.
    the only real chance they have to survive, and this often happens, is that since domestic birds are not afraid of humans, they might try and get close to people, and people will often take them and feed them and prolly adopt them.

I’ve followed along with a lot of your vids for advice, but, I’m trying to learn about millet. I give Tommy a millet every other day, but, I’m finding it’s very dry. Is it suppose to be so dry? If not, how do I keep it hydrated whilst it’s in store. Thankyou for your very helpful vids xxxx

    • @paulad.4578

      Generally, millet is dry and looks dry. Nonetheless, budgies love it. Don't be afraid to give Tommy some millet as he will probably love it, and love you for it. However, millet is meant to only be a treat. It is not healthy to give budgies millet as a daily feed. They have additional dietary needs that cannot be met with a straight millet diet. Best of luck with your little budgie friend Tommy. 👍❤
