One of the best male vocalist ever. Brian May said he was the only singer who could match all the notes that Freddie could during the Freddie Mercury tribute. Gone too soon!

George Michael is famous for his pop hits, but he was also the King of smooth, soulful ballads. And the cheesy, melodramatic sax line? Just ICONIC🎷 *mwah*😘🤌 His crowd control was also clearly great...One of my other, lesser known faves is "Jesus to a Child", his voice is butter smooth & had such beautiful control.

If you want to be blown away with this song watch when he performed it in Live in Rio. It’s on RUclips. He has a long strong note in the beginning that will give you chills. Voice of an angel. He also does the the song Tonight that is also unbelievable. Miss him so much. ❤️

I appreciate it when a songwriter (poet/novelist/painter) can step back from a work and allow the audience to love it as they do, even if it means putting their ego aside. See Keats 'Ode to Autumn' for my first and best example of an artist just stepping out the way of the thing that they have created. ;)

Ken, I was thinking the same thing, he's hitting every single detail of this song just like the studio version. (This is based on my indelible memory of this song carved into my brain from, conservatively, thousands of radio plays). Pretty amazing. And he sounded so good!

George Michael was never emotionally attached to this song, and he said that on many occasions

Karaoke with George Michael 😂 For sure it was! I went to 3 of the concerts in this 25Live tour and they were the best live performances I ever saw ❤

What you heard in 5:31 was the greatest present he got from his entire career...i assure you that...40k people singing like a choir in heaven in absolutely perfect harmony/ tunning...thats why he decided he wanted to be a musician in first place, that exchange, that acceptance...that energy...that little moment was special beyond any given presentation elsewhere or much less karaoke type of deal show...now i understand vocal coachs are technicians not artists so you're clear

...and indeed one of my biggest doubts about this performance stands on 6:31 as well but i guess we'll never know as you very well said yourself : the song became an entity ...

If you want an updated version of this with a gnarly guitar riff (in place of sax,) check out the cover that Seether did. It's pretty faithful to the original, but (in my opinion,) has a little more feeling, since it's openly mournful rock instead of upbeat pop.

Fak-e news ...in a 1993 radio interview he states the most liked songs of his personnal choices were the ones tha he had truthful assurance were the ones his fans like most...in a sort of self-acepptance kind of deal that he had with in his inner conflicts....and the exactly moments he was sure of that was on live stage not upon records sales reports ...so your comment goes so south side of this presentation that it almost makes me feel i've been trolled...congratulatios

@@aquariumlife2929 He said many times he never related to that song. Remember at the Unplugged show he said “You can probably guess which Wham song I’ll be playing”? Also, he once said in the late 80’s that as a song writer he was disillusioned because people liked Careless Whisper so much. I bet his manager or someone in his inner circle told him not to say that anymore. I’m sorry if his not liking that song hurts your feelings. You can find these interviews on YT if you feel like searching.

@@Julieroo28 not hurt....just doesn't ad up from the interviews i listened to, i just can't comprehend how can a songwriter be disillusioned by writing one of most beautiful songs there is in music history...maybe i lost some interviews then, feel free to dissert a little bit more about if you wish to, please, i really didn't get this prospective until now. Still one of the greatest songs in music history for me...maybe he felt pain when performing, who knows , i don't know, still don't believe the inspiration the music was written tho ( about a girl that didn't respond affectivelly to him in a sort of prom or whatever ) ...so i maybe theres more to it that we might not know...as he told himself, in this very same interview, one of most hated moments of his tv interviews life was when asked to explain the meaning/feelings/inspirirations of his own writings ( songs ) ...so i don't think he would give that one up so easily...well

@@Julieroo28 yaep i guess you're right i just caught up with some articles...i just can conceive as a lyric can have so multiple meanings and can have so much emotional silverlines as chessy song for some people....he wrote it as a 17 years old ok but maybe understood the importance of this particular lyric in his last years. People that take 'cheat' as literally like with a partner ok thats cheesy but when you get more mature you can almost feel the word 'cheat' as the mistakes you make in life and the opportunities wasted and so on...theres so much teachings in the underlines of this song not to say melody

2nd reaction: I don't agree with your last words. It was not only karaoke with George Michael, but also a great party and exchange of love, and I'm sure nobody would freak out if he would make another version of the song. At least not at the 3 concerts I went to.

I do not often watch youtube, but since you are a vioce coach, it would hav been fun to hear your reaction on Susanne Sundførs "The mountaineers" live, from Grieg-hallen. It is her own song, and she has the last ten years become an artists artist. ruclips.net/video/e97RIDmWdT0/видео.html

The "HITS" of ANY artist should be done live as close as to the recorded version as possible. Deviate on your lesser known stuff, but don't mess with the BEST stuff you ever put out. It's RUDE to the millions of people who played your songs over and over until their media (vinyl records, cassettes, and/or CDs) just wouldn't play anymore.
