it’s actually the same case with me. took my wife and parents on a ride at 90 and they didn’t know a thing until my wife said slow down. i was on my x5 though 😊
I had the RX and now drive the BMW and the nighttime driving is better with my BMW I see very well and the lights seem to be like a spotlight going around corners. I love them both!
Bought new 2023 RX350 Luxury with all options, drove it for about 18 months/10k miles and sold it. Bought a new 2025 X5 50e and couldn't be happier. I know Lexus is going through growing pains (and Toyota) with their new turbo-4 powertrains, but even at its best the turbo 2.4 was completely out of place in the RX, along with the confounding infotainment/driver interface and wind noise/vibrations. Hard to beat the B58 combo with the PHEV; averaging a bit over 59mpg in 4 months of ownership and still love the car.
I think there's no comparison, the BMW has a more powerful engine, maybe if the RX didn't ditch the V6 you can compare the two for now maybe compare the RX to the BMW X3
Yes, Lexus does not really have a car that is comparable to the X5. The RX is more of an X3 competitor even if it had the V6. The 2GR is/was a great motor, but does NOT compare to an B58, heck even the N55 is better than the 2GR. And the 2GR was not exactly trouble free either.

I own a '17 RX350 Luxury that just hit 87k miles, and last month purchased my wife a new BMW X3 with the M-Sport appearance package and every bell and whistle available. It's wonderful indeed. That got me thinking so I have spent the past month test driving '25 RX350 (Premium Plus and Luxury) and '24/'25 BMX X5. As much as I love my current V6, and the I6 of the X5, there is no doubt I will purchase a new RX350 Luxury within the next 9 months. I perceive the styling, comfort and honest unbelievable reliability of the RX to be winner for me. You mentioned the 80/20% rule for cargo, and I easily equate that to power. My '17 has more power than I need 95% of the time, and the new T4 seems to have enough guts to move me along just fine, especially since they allow me to turn off the stoopid auto-engine-cutoff!
This comment really helped me with my decision to stick with Lexus. The V4 doesn't bother me and I know that I will get value for my money with Lexus. Not sure I'd be able to say that after 10 years with BMW

Timeless class. Give me the Lexus RX 500 F Sport Hybrid Amy day, anytime, anyplace. I like BMW but would NEVER trade it with my Lex. My Lexus is more reliable than any HUSBAND. I TESTIFY TO THAT. 😂😂
I have a BMW X5 in Canada and I see approximately 10k down / year in depreciation with normal mileage 10k-15k per year approximately, however the first couple of years are absolutely brutal, more like 20k a year and maybe more, i don’t recommend buying a new BMW X5 unless you have lots of money or don’t care about losing/wasting money. I came from lexus, i had a 2018 and 2020 RX, bought a CPO 1.5 years old ‘22 X5, i have absolutely no regrets, it’s been number 1 on Consumer reports for many years now. The ride, comfort, luxuries and the smooth transmission and powerful B58 inline 6 is a dream to drive. The X5 is deep into software and like any software bugs are not options i get some little annoyances with carplay but with talking in forums it starting to look like part apple and BMW problem, but very minor stuff really. As to why i left Lexus, well quite simply the hike in price in Canada and the major downgrade to a 4 cylinder, big mistake imo, a laughable center console digital display with a low resolution, now 2025 brings in a full digital display!!! Could not be done from the beginning?!?! And for me lastly is the ridiculous touch pads on the steering wheel where you now have to look at your HUD to set the cruise control, whomever design this should be unemployed and banned from ever getting involved in car design. What i don’t understand from toyota is the blurred line between Lexus and Toyota, lexus no longer outshines its higher volume consumer base brand, you sit in some toyota like the crown and its hard visually to know your not in a lexus. In other words Lexus cheaped out and stopped making luxury cars, their entire SUV lineup is in disarray with subpar and in some case faulty powertrain. I hope this message finds it’s way up the lexus chain of command, they need a severe wake up call.
If you want to buy a reliability resale value go for a lexus if you want performance and you care about reliability or money go for a BMW for me I will be 100 % go to lexus i don't want to waste my money for BMW
I'm a die hard fan of the Lexus brand but it so hard to not like the BMW X5 with that B58 engine which had been perfected for yrs even if I know the RX will outlive that X5.
@ BMW never really has issues with their core engines, and neither did Toyota. It’s always been their niche engines. Issue is that now with modern engines require a lot of complexities to make power reliably as they are smaller engine. Toyota is not new to making turbocharged engines, neither is BMW. But BMW has been in the game now for 20 years with modern turbo engines and they seem to have master it. Their most troublesome engine, the N63 went several iterations and while no longer used and replaced by the S68, the last two iterations it became very reliable. Toyota has had similar issues in the past with new engines. The venerable 5.7 was NOT trouble free when first released as it appeared rushed to compete with Nissan’s 5.6 V8. After a few years they worked the issues and for the last decade the engine was reliable. I have been around cars for a long time. I buy what I like regardless of the logo. I have owned Lexus branded cars. The only car I ever owned that needed a transmission at less than 70K was an RX350, but that can happen to any car/brand even the best ones. Car are like Pandora’s boxes you sometimes you never know what will happen. Now, with some brands one will generally more reliable than others, but to claim that Lexus somehow is more reliable, which is true in some cases due to the lack of complexity they offered for many years. The Lexus cars were very basic (their most popular models, such as the RX, ES, etc.). The more basic, the car the less complex, the less can go wrong. In the modern day complexity is unavoidable.
B58 engine will outlast the RX. Lexus just changed almost ALL of their engines and are due to experience at least a few years of trying to "get it right". I will shift back to Lexus maybe down the road. I just leased a 2024 760i, with xdrive and idrive (gas engine) replacing my LS460. My only comment is why did I wait? There is no comparison whatsoever. Also note that BMW had serious engine issues which are resolved with the B58. Lexus is in for some rough times. Read the early reviews and you will see.
I ain't super crazy abt BMW designs, both old and new but the new current X5 looks really good to me. But ofc i hate that weird bottom angluar black bar thingy, its too much going on, but yea the X5M and the regular non-sporty looking X5s look good to me
Lexus can’t compete with BMW. The handling, the speed, the safety, the protection of yourself when come to an accident,,, just to name a fews,,, when you shut the doors of both cars you can tell, and also the bumper to bumper warranty is totally different , BMW is 50k miles . What’s the Lexus warranty?
So I have the same rx as reviewed with the 21 rims, heads up display and the 4 cylinder turbo engine. The car is very nice to drive on highway and the autonomous cruise control with lane change assist works great. That being said there are something’s I’m disappointed in as follows; 1) I’m only getting a combined 21 mpg, this I poor especially given the 4 cylinder engine. Think the bigger wheels are part of the problem. The BMW actually gets better fuel economy. 2). The LED low beams are not very good and do not illuminate far enough down the road. Once the high beams come on it’s fine but low beams are weak. 3) if I d the engine noisy at low speeds. O e final thought, a comparably equipped X5 is $15k to 18k more the the Lexus unless you get the 500h.
To me the BMW X5 is more sport than luxury. You mentioned X5 could get into the 300s and 400s. It starts at 375 HP and gets up to 600+ placing the X5 in another league. Yes I understand most people will configure theirs closer to the one shown. Lexus is a great Luxury SUV no doubt but the comparison to X5 should be Mercedes and Audi
@@ErikLewis-zr8ec i mean i come from an RX into a 22 X5, heated armrest, finished, integration of technologie and subtle details of engineering are so impressive, the overall comfort and power on the base B58 engine with a ZF transmission will blow your mind. The only thing i miss is the lexus rear cross traffic alert that is the sh…s on the X5, literally does not work. I did see that the new generation RX did improve a bit on tech. I hope that they do provide updates and new features to the software like BMW does. I use to tell my friends with lexus, whatever software you have the car will die with them, they never fix anything or update anything.
I'll take the Lexus RX any day over the BMW. Personally, I have never been a fan of BMWs. Over the years, too many of my friends and neighbors who have/have owned BMWs have had many negative issues with their cars. Friends/neighbors who own/have owned Lexus's cars, have had none to very few issues. Plus, I think the Lexus just looks much nicer......it's makes a statement of class when it pulls up to a function. As far as the 2.4 motor, I absolutely love it, I have no issues with it. Those who want a 6 cyl., well, there are other cars out there for you.
@@spacrazie check all the rating publications. BMW has the best build quality too. BMW is the number 1 selling premium brand worldwide. Have you heard of the Lexus engine failures?
Reliability is very important. Lexus is reliable. I did not like the v4 concept why do you still call it rx350 its not 3.5 litre engine right. Call it RX200T
We had a 2017 RX350 and when looking for a new car in 2025, looked at both the X5 and RX350. Mostly because of the 4cyl in the RX, we went with the X5. In retrospect, the BMW is more comfortable and powerful but the technology in it is overwhelming and horrible to try to understand. Who cares about the sound of the unlock beep!
Yes the Lexus is a snooooooze fest, so yes you can have it all day long. I take my X5, which is ultimately more reliable than the RX. Funny enough I owned a second gen RX350. VW’s of the time had better infotainment systems ohh and that was was the only car I owned that needed a transmission at 60K (Luckily Lexus does offer a 70K mile warranty, but the experience with the dealer is meh).
Lexus of course is better. It is a better car in general. BMW may drive better, but that is it. It is expensive to maintain, expensive to sell (losses value very fast), expensive to repair, especially with plastic under the hood. I mean if money part is not a problem, then of course go for BMW. But again if money is not a problem then go for Porsche.
I had really great laughs just watching this video 😂 Comparing a cheap Japanese to a well built German legend * noting I have the 2024 RX just because I couldn’t afford the X5
Just get a used X5 while the bmw unreliable image is still in peoples minds. Bmw has been on top of reliability charts for the past few years Plus RX maybe has the ugliest front face in the class, looks like a beluga whale, specially in white. (yes even uglier than bmw oversized grills)
Are you kidding me? The Lexus is using a platform related to the Toyota Camry. The engine in the RX sits sideways like the front wheel drive economy car its based on. Theres no comparison. Also, you not knowing the BMW kidney grilles have active grille shutters makes it difficult to take the rest of your video seriously. Face it, you're selling Toyotas with L badges while wearing a cheap suit.
As someone who has owned 3 RX 350s, and who is strongly considering an X5 for my upcoming purchase, what did I learn from this video? Well, the X5 wins on beep volume, but Lexus wins on less resistance from the console panel door. The X5 wins on the impressive amount of items and things the screen can do, but on the other hand Lexus wins for the simplicity of having less items and things the screen can do. And the BMW has really cool parking beeps, at least by the description. 😃
LMAO. Your post is SPOT ON!! We have been converted from Lexus since 2000 to BMW in 2024. I know the 2025's are out but that B58 engine and super transmission makes this a no brainer. I was a Lexus owner for 17 years (GS 350, ES 350, GS 350, RX 350, GX 460, RX 350,) then I switched to the BMW X5. I like BMW but I miss my Lexus.
The interior is so much nicer and better materials are used in the X5 than the RX. Looks are subjective but i love the way the X5 looks but i think the RX also looks cool. Speaking as a RX owner, but the price difference is too much for me to justify. Would love to have an X5 one day however
@@albertn.1742 do like i did, get a CPO that’s 1-2 years old max and buy in january when the showroom is empty.
Very fair comparison. Thanks
Timeless class. Give me the Lexus RX 500 F Sport Hybrid Amy day, anytime, anyplace.
I like BMW but would NEVER trade it with my Lex. My Lexus is more reliable than any HUSBAND. I TESTIFY TO THAT. 😂😂
How does the bmw compare to the Kia telluride size wise
Lexus could do more of BMW X5 quality to regain their loyal customers, and to win some new ones too.
Lexus and bmw are the only car brands I would consider when getting a new car
Very fair summary! The BMW has a lot to like. Do you know how the maintenance cost and depreciation compares for these vehicles?
@ you should seriously give it a try, the X5 is rated no1.
@@sophaman9193You do know that CR rates the X5 as a top ten and the RX is NOT there.
Lexus = Luxury + Reliability
I'm a die hard fan of the Lexus brand but it so hard to not like the BMW X5 with that B58 engine which had been perfected for yrs even if I know the RX will outlive that X5.
The RX will NOT outlive the X5.
@@AgonxOC yeah time will tell, Toyota/Lexus is not having great luck with their new powertrain.
@ I feel the same way by getting an X5 vs the RX, why did I wait!! That B58 and ZF is an absolute charm.
I ain't super crazy abt BMW designs, both old and new but the new current X5 looks really good to me. But ofc i hate that weird bottom angluar black bar thingy, its too much going on, but yea the X5M and the regular non-sporty looking X5s look good to me
My sister has the x5 and the maintenance is too much. Not only in price but how often and early you need one.
Bmw looks better
Bmw❤❤❤
2024RX is looked smaller than X5 in size
Under warranty BMW, out of warranty Lexus
Best comment yet.
Lexus lost the competition when they dropped the big front grill, it looked great !
The X5 is A LOT more luxurious than the RX. A fully loaded X5 will have things a LX does not have.
Huh? What is your definition of luxury? The x5 is more luxurious.
BNW is ranked higher than Lexus in reliability.
@@Kenyon712when n where?😮😅😂
@@spacrazie check all the rating publications. BMW has the best build quality too. BMW is the number 1 selling premium brand worldwide. Have you heard of the Lexus engine failures?

@kevinhearts616 look it up. Do research.
He doesn't mention the year... I am assuming they are both 2025....
The RX is not really a competitor to the X5 it’s closer compared to the X3, especially since Lexus ditched the 6 cylinder.
Bavarian Motor Works (Bayerische Motoren Werke) and the checker blue and white logo pays homage to their flag.
Reliability is very important. Lexus is reliable. I did not like the v4 concept why do you still call it rx350 its not 3.5 litre engine right.
Call it RX200T
I’ll choose the Lexus
We had a 2017 RX350 and when looking for a new car in 2025, looked at both the X5 and RX350. Mostly because of the 4cyl in the RX, we went with the X5. In retrospect, the BMW is more comfortable and powerful but the technology in it is overwhelming and horrible to try to understand. Who cares about the sound of the unlock beep!
My 2020 Toyota sennia XLE has the ultra luxury intelligent high beam lol
BMW is my favorite! no comparison!
BMW grill opens and shuts, depending on the need of engine cooling.
Exrerior: lexus for me. Interior bmw.
cool X5 of course
I like BMW
I am using 2024 RX 350h and I must say, its not worth the money. Soon will get something better.
Lexus RX every day
Definitely x5
Hard to pick. One keeps it's value and the other tanks like a brick in water. Hmmm.
Yes over 50 percent in 5 years ouch.
BMW FOR THE WIN 🥇 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 I\
Lexus al the way.
That kidney grill will open when the engine is on so that’s is functional bro
Lexus of course is better. It is a better car in general. BMW may drive better, but that is it. It is expensive to maintain, expensive to sell (losses value very fast), expensive to repair, especially with plastic under the hood. I mean if money part is not a problem, then of course go for BMW. But again if money is not a problem then go for Porsche.
LOL - objective comparison done by people selling Lexus 😀 😂😅 I prefer X5
Lexus
Lexus always
Fwd based car vs rwd based car. How fwd based rx is considered as premium car ? Really
Купил жене новый rx 350 2024 не понрааился ей , купил такой же х 5 и ей очень нравится
Lexus RX 350h, 37 mpg . Case closed ii u live in Cali. 4 cylinder will throw ur head back. Test drive and see!!
Lexus RX350 2025 dashboard screen will be 12.3 inch
BMW has nicer interior to me.
Is the cooling seat owned by Lexus? It’s the only car I’ve seen with both.
I love Lexus but their suvs are ugly looking.
Apples & Oranges son. RX 350 is an BMW 3 series. Get on point, or get off.

* noting I have the 2024 RX just because I couldn’t afford the X5
WTF is a performance Lexus? I'll wait...
BMW for sure over Toyota Lexus. No thanks not even comparable in my opinion.
Just get a used X5 while the bmw unreliable image is still in peoples minds.
Bmw has been on top of reliability charts for the past few years
Plus RX maybe has the ugliest front face in the class, looks like a beluga whale, specially in white.
(yes even uglier than bmw oversized grills)
Slow yo ta 🤣 using ancient tech
BMW with that long display looks like Chinese car. Lexus is better.
Nothing drives like that BMW. Lexus just drives like a Toyota RAV4 or Highlander. Super boring
Agree!!
The BMW is pig ugly compared to the Lexus and will get expensive really quick
Lexus sucks now with their week tunt v4 engine! They ruined that car.
Lexus can’t even compare with the ultimate driving machine 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Just drive them both! You will not be in doubt at all. Lexus has become a Toyota with an "L" badge. BMW is a large step up.
Not a fair comparison, the X5 is in another zip code.
Anybody who I’ve driven Bmw before will never go for any Car in terms of speed they’re ahead of other cars and stability to is best BMW is drivers Car 🖤💙🤍
