Or is it just music/songs that you don't personally enjoy? That's really the question. Cherub Rock just jumps out to me because I feel like a lot of the others are things that have been overplayed/overexposed over the years, but Cherub Rock sorta flies under the radar in that respect. Like... it was FAR from their biggest (or most annoying) hit.

Here in Italy SNA is often associated with football since the 2006 FIFA World Cup, when (I think) the riff became a sort of "football hymn", and lots of people can't stand that song for that very reason
I used to til my school band would play it non stop at pep rallies and u could hear the song in the whole school from practices. Plus the movies and commercials that overplay it

Tool fans are as pretentious as Radiohead fans; if you don't love their band they think you're clueless. That said, everyone should see Tool to see Danny Carey at least once. Guitar and bass are kinda boring and you can't decipher the lyrics unless you study at home first.
They are like the only band that doesn't make things complex for the sake of it. That's Dream Theater imo. They just add some spice here and there without losing any time with shredding or sections that go nowhere. That's my opinion though.

If I read the lyrics from that song off of a napkin, nobody would know what the fuck I was on about. That whole song is the riff. The same way that if I hum Kashmir to some rando off the street they can hum it back to me, I could hum the riff to Seven Nation Army to anyone in the world over the age of 5 and have them clapping along with the beat. Classics are decided by the everyman, not music snobs.
