You ever heard of drum & bass? That's a whole grenre without guitar.
Bass does not need a guitar. It's very common to get bands without guitar but incredibly rare to get bands without basses. Bass frequencies are just more fundamental for good sounding music. I love guitar but it's like vocals to me. They're not essential but arguably bass is
I personally am a guitar player but I think having a solid bass riff and player adds so much to ur music as seen when u played can’t stop

great choice of riffs! It would be very interesting to see if these riffs had instruments isolated though, otherwise seemed a bit pointless when for example the bass is still playing in the background on the "GUITAR" riff.

Porque a pesar que había música de bandas diferentes, con estilos diferentes y de tres décadas diferentes… Un bajista tocando un bajo, el venerable Fender P-Bass, directamente en un amplificador sin pedales, no solo tocó interpretaciones reconocibles sino que hizo un buen trabajo al aproximar los diversos tonos. La Máxima con lo Mínimo.

I generally like Jazz and Blues music should I learn to play Bass or Guitar if I'm just starting out? I realize that you might be biased towards one or the other. I also have Rocksmith although I don't know if that's a good teacher or not for a beginner.

Bass was scientifically studied, along side the rest; to be the most important instrument in overall sound output/mix/composition (within relevant genres). It's the only irreplaceable instrument in a much larger volume of songs than might be apparent. If you don't really have the 'guitar bug'; I recommend you quit and try Bass. It's a vastly superior instrument in most cases.
