  • Take a closer look at gerrymandering, which occurs when districts are drawn in a way that unfairly favors one group of people with the intent of influencing who gets elected. Learn when and how gerrymandering occurs and explore the impact it can have on the democratic process.

Theorretical question. Can a representation gap ever just be too plain big for gerrymandering alone to even possibly account for all of it?
For example, I notice that Democrats and Republicans combined are only 62% of NC registered voters, yet somehow hold all 218 of NC's state- and federal-level elected offices.
Could zero voice for 38% of us become zero voice for 39% of us - or zero voice for 99% of us - and there still wouldn't necessarily be something else going on?
Thanks for the video, for sure. Gerrymandering is definitely dangerous, and you showed it. You made the case at a high level, but sufficiently, too. That's an art, and the main challenge in educational videos for a general audience.
I just can't stop wondering: Is gerrymandering's power/danger SO great that it doesn't even have a MATHEMATICAL limit? (less than 100%)
    Keep up the good work.

Excellent overview. Should do a follow-up on how this has worked in North Carolina, Duke's home. Textbook case!
