      It was a great outcome, that's for sure. And not just that, it's protected and pops in the tux.

    Fantastic Reveal here John. All fantastic and I always love some 1954 Topps and the Braves have some nice cards and players from that year. Cool seeing a soto as well. Thanks for sharing with us.

      You're right about nice Braves cards in '54, starting with Hammerin' Hank of course. I also really like the Del Crandall (card #12 I believe). Thank you for watching!

      Was thinking the same thing. Once I heard the taxi story, I knew his dad got him hooked for life and he never let go. I love it.

    Great reveal John! Some really solid grades! Thought the 70 Aaron should have been a 6, still a really nice-looking card. Love the two 54's especially the Mathews. The 59 Kaline and 57 Snider are both beautiful cards and great grades. The Rosen is a really sweet card, loved hearing the Rosen story again that is such a cool story! Finally a 5 on a T205...that is awesome, what a beauty! Congrats John and thanks for sharing.

      I agree about the Kaline and Snider in particular -- they look great in their tuxes. I still really like the Aaron -- it's one of my favorites of his Topps run, top 5 for sure. The T205 was a big surprise. It's hard to know to what extent it impacts value, but "on paper" it would appear to be a very nice outcome. Thanks for watching, Steve!

    Nice cards!
    If you reholder the Jordan, get it regraded to see if it can get an 8.5. They didn’t do half grades back then when it was graded.

    I"m starting to feel like SGC is a much tougher grader than PSA. Any iota of off center and they'll ding you 1 or 2 grades. PSA allows 60/40 centering to still be GM10's.

    • @jpcards
      @jpcards  3 месяца назад

      From what I've read and otherwise absorbed, I think SGC may be more consistent -- maybe that's consistently tough? Not sure, but with my experience with SGC I tend to see them kind of "reward" particularly strong centering. That might not be the best or right way to look at it, but it's just my interpretation of how they roll. Thanks for watching and commenting -- I really appreciate it.

  • @ASMRPeople

    Yeah you got lucky with that t206, but it probably made up for a few card where got unlucky. It's the game of grading I suppose.

  • @cryptonite8495

    SGC must cut tobacco cards more slack. No way a 1950s or '60s card with that edge wear would have earned a 5. Maybe they should cut more slack for cards that are half a century older. At any rate, congrats on that result! I might be tempted to sell it and use part of the proceeds to acquire a 2 or a 3 with nice eye appeal ... or several.

    I like your approach. Stick with “vintage” They ironically are the FUTURE. Would love for you to possibly pursue Jim Brown and Lew Alcindor cardboard as i firmly believe their early issues are extremely underpriced

    I just found and subscribe because you simply turn over cards showing the grade rather than putting your thumb over the grade for “drama”. Think that is silly. Maybe just me but good video and love vintage
