If you want the best fish and chips, you go up north to Yorkshire. Whiteheads Fish and Chip Takeaway in Hornsea, East Yorkshire won best chip shop of year 2023 but Yorkshire is considered the best place for fish and chips in general. It's a considered northern thing.
Have gotten a lot of suggestions to head up to Yorkshire and more up north in England and I'll definitely be doing it! Thank you for the suggestion.@@carltonlambert7608
Go to the Magpie fish and chip restaurant in Whitby, Yorkshire. Known for the best fish and chips, plus Whitby is very old and of great historical interest. You’ll love it!
Nice. I loved the guy who said he didn't know if he believed in ghost but expressed that he wanted to maintain a good relationship. That was awesome. This is a great travel doc. Mucha Gracias Hermano David. Fue un placer to watch tu pelicula! Hablo espanol poquito senor.
Great Vlog Dave! The first Pub has so much fascinating history and fully needed this longer vlog. Also, Beaconsfield is very close to my home so was cool to see you visited near by. Hope you enjoyed the UK🇬🇧 BRO 👊🏾
The interior of the pubs.....does look Historical....really really awesome!!!.....roasted nuts ale....the fiireplace....really calm atmosphere....Nice....Thanks David...Nate...safe travels...Blessings and Peace Always..
Thank you so much Katy! Welcome to the channel and I try my best to be as open and respectful as possible. I really appreciate the support and thank you again!
Great bit of history at the end regarding the civil war. In my hometown, we have the 3rd oldest pub in England, Ye Olde Man & Scythe. During the civil war the Royalists massacred the town (Bolton Massacre) under the orders of James 7th earl of Derby. Years later after the royalists were defeated he was captured and beheaded on the street outside the pub. There’s a cross in its spot today. It’s said he stayed his last night at Ye olde Man & Scythe and they even have the chair he sat in. Also ghost hunters say he haunts the bar… cool history all over England.
There is 3 more London videos although this video is the end of the regular series. Will be out this week! I'll be back to London very soon though, probably within the year for a continuation of the series and going to many of the places I didn't get to visit. Plus I want to visit the rest of the UK too!
we just came back from our trip to London. I had a great beer and Fish N Chips at a bar in Shakespeare's town - Stratford-Upon-Avon. London is sucha a amazing plalce, everywhere you go, so much history and interesting stories.. Thanks for sharing ..
I shall add the Standard and its food to my to do list. So glad the kitchen was featured as it shows what effort is being put in to produce top notch grub.
So much to unpack from this!! Love this video and seeing that you experienced as much as you could of London/surrounding areas in the short time you had. Samuel Smiths brewery is run by Humphrey Smith, who HATES mobile phones, music, jukeboxes, radios - and will regularly stroll into one of his pubs and fire someone on the spot for the most ridiculous reason. The fact you got in there with a camera was an actual Christmas miracle!!! 🤣🤣 Humphrey will also go mad at people swearing (don't say f**k in my pub!) and isn't keen on gay people either. No idea why, just reporting back! The group at the end were lovely but what a shame that they haven't taken the opportunity to travel a short distance to Southall for incredible Indian food. I grew up in London (Arsenal supporter!) and I love the diversity of the city. Thanks for your open minded insight, fab video x
I've been in the Olde Cheshire Cheese many times. I used to work about a five minute walk from it, so we would often go there at lunchtime for some food and a pint, or after work for quite a few more pints! We sat at those tables in the cellar bar more times than I care to remember! Happy times. 😊
Love it when people from other countries make the effort to scratch beneath the surface (especially Americans) There seems to be a point where it consumes them in a positive way & they jump into the culture taking themselves completely by surprise, it’s really part of the reason we conserve many things, it gives us a buzz when people fall in love
Great video love the pub crawling the most... 😀 you should travel to Yorkshire sometime not many people who visit the UK actually go to Yorkshire and there is some amazing history here...
I love English pub food! Watching this makes me want to head back to the "old country" for a long-overdue visit. I don't know where (in LA) to find good steak & kidney pie!! Alas.
Hi David, I love this Vid you look at my country objectively, despite its dark past. I love the way you absorb cultures and lingo. I hope i am like you. I go to the Netherlands occasionally and I speak a little Dutch. Its important to me I do this. I respect their langauge and culture and do this. David I have been to the USA and love it. The most friendliest people South of the 49th parrel .......sorry David I love Canadians. David i live in the East of England and we have USAAF bases here which reminds me daily of the part Uncle Sam played into our freedom. Glen Miller flew on his last flight from here. David I value you, but please don't put your life in danger for us. Take care Mate. Steve
Thank you so much for your thoughtful and caring comment Steve. I really do appreciate getting comments like this and I am grateful for your support. I have my Netherlands series coming out next (probably two weeks away). I also love Canadians, in the US we give them a hard time jokingly but they are such awesome people and some of my best friends are from there. Anyway thanks again Steve, wishing you a great week ahead!
It's said that Londoners don't appreciate being addressed by strangers, but David is clearly undeterred by that. As a Scot who lived in central London for 20 years, I can confirm that the no-speak rules don't apply in the better London pubs. I wouldn't try it on the tube or the bus though. 😏
@@Davidsbeenhere bro i started watching your videos long ago. First time i saw your Pakistani food vlog video. When you were first came to Pakistan🇵🇰. I have a dream to meet you and invite you to my city
Great pub I went there back in the 1980s I had 6 glasses of old RODGER I was pissed as a parrot those were the great old days I must return there again now in 2024 do they still sell old roger i wonder .?
8:14 No expert on heraldry but the cloth suggests the union of England, Scotland and Ireland and a still refers to a claim to the French crown. If it's got a King Charles Room then it definitely sounds like a Royalist tavern during the ECW.
If you want fish and chips, ironically you have to ignore fish and chips shops, like 99% of them are just average, the best places are pubs. Ps the hand beer pump is called a beer engine.
Seeing ghosts👻 is a normal thing. Actually, five ghosts live in my kitchen, and I see them every day going in and out without a problem, The only thing I don't like is that they are stinky. the kitchen smells like butter and sulfur all day long man you know.
Oh my goodness he keeps asking the locals if they are English he can't differentiate the locals English accents. Can't blame him there's loads. You won't know unless you're a Brit ❤
I get that establishments need to evolve somewhat to stay in business. I do think that at this point, a greater selling point would be when in a 900-year-old inn, pub, or tavern to have food like someone would have had 900 years ago, even 500 years ago, or 200 years ago. Too many of these establishments love to claim their age, but do not act their age. I do not want to go into an old, historic English pub and have modern, or international cuisine. That totally defeats the point and spoils the experience. A 300-year-old pub that serves hamburger sandwiches seems very off to me, though not as much as one that serves nachos. This is a problem throughout the United Kingdom, and throughout much of Europe. Many people want a more authentic experience. Imagine visiting an historic Chinese establishment and eating modern American food there. Very off. People that visit for the history want the history. I would also not want to visit a historic English pub and drink a lagered beer. I would like to visit and have a traditional English ale, for an authentic traditional experience.
Watch till the end to see the ghost!! 🤣👻🍺

David! You would have been 3 sheets to the wind by the end of that session in the last pub. Lol.
Now the last pub, Ye Olde Mitre, shows the true atmosphere of pubs throughout Britain. So good!!
Yes! It was truly magical. I'll always remember it!!
I always visit it when I'm in London, plus those riverside ones in Wapping.👍⚒️
I haven't watched it yet but it seems to be a very interesting video. Is this the last video of England?
More or less although there may be a surprise or two coming in the relatively near future. As for now we are moving on to the next series!
This makes me soooo hungry! What a Great Pub! ❤
Great video.... enjoying and entertaining

51:32 What you have there is what was known as a half-and-half. Though it would be half an IPA with half a stout.

Hi david im from england 🇬🇧. Weres your fish and chips today?
Id luv to metal detect around that area

David, take time to enjoy every bites of your meal. You eat too fast.
Ye Old Cheshire Cheese IS NOT the oldest pub in London. Not even in top five. Do your homework.
You've used the wrong flag.

The Royal Standard Of England is not in London. Same pubs over and over on RUclips.
Only a tourist would eat fish and chips in a pub.
hilarious. i would wager 99% of an english pub’s clientele is english. and none of them eat the fish n chips? 😅 that’s a lot of wasted fish then
