    I installed 600 sq.ft. of the Cali Vinyl Pro "Redefined Pine" in my home and it looks awesome. It replaced 14yr old carpet in the 3 bedrooms, Hall, and old vinyl tile in both bathrooms, and completely changed the look of the house. A few things about the flooring. 1, The floor stays at room temp so it feels nice on bare feet. 2, Very easy to clean with a dust mop. 3, expect some sound from walking on it, like any old hardwood floor there will be some creeks and pops as it is a floating floor.
    Over all I think it's a very good product, and I will install more next Spring in the W/D room and back storage room after my 25 yr old moves into his new place.

      Christopher Shelton we are considering installing this in our home. Are you pleased with the durability? Scratches etc?

      We've had the aged hickory installed for 2 years now and we are pleased with the durability. Hard to see scratches at all. But it will scratch! The rest of our house has the classic acacia which is much darker and you can see scratches. I try to baby it and I put pads on every piece of furniture. My dining room chairs have scratched it, even with pads on. Hard for me to say if it is more scratch resistant than hardwood, but if you go with a lighter color it will be much harder to see the scratches. I also scratched it by sliding my dishwasher out from under the cabinet, even though the dishwasher has fairly soft plastic feet. So, it's not a miracle floor and you still need to be careful with it. But we are happy with it.

    Here's a 2 year updated review: ruclips.net/video/BmkQk0abRrs/видео.html. Product is awesome and I would recommend. They have some new lines and colors available which look really good as well. We did end up doing the rest of our home with the Cali Vinyl Pro Classic Acacia and we really like it. Only thing to watch out for is that darker colors will show dirt and scratches easier.

    Thank you 1000xs for this review. I’ve had this flooring picked out for 6 months and we’re going to be purchasing and installing soon. I’ve wondered about this product and glad that I trusted my gut on this one. Thank you for this great and informative review on this wonderful color, I can’t wait!

    Thanks for the review. I plan to buy the Cali Viny Pro Gray Ash in the next week. I already installed Cali Bamboo Java in our foyer and dining room and turned out great. The area receives allot of traffic and is holding well. Only draw back is we need to clean it allot. The darker color shows the dog hair, dust etc very easily.

    • @poodledad
      @poodledad  4 года назад +1

      Yes, darker color is a pain to clean. And actually it says that in the maintenance guide. We used the classic acacia throughout the rest of our house, and it looks great, but it is super hard to keep clean. I should have used something lighter.

    Good review, I'm considering buying this and I was wondering about the feel and sound. I really dislike the hollow sound of floating laminate. Good to hear this doesn't have that.

    • @poodledad
      @poodledad  6 лет назад +1

      Definitely not hollow or floaty feeling. It's a very impressive floor. I hope they come out with more designs as I would love to use this product throughout the rest of our house.

    Great review! We are considering this product, after much research in looking at other luxury vinyl and really impressed with the line, esp the longboards. We wanted something that looks like real hardwood and didn't have alot of color blocking so it flows nicely. We are looking at getting the Seaboard Oak or may go with the Aged Hickory. We are def having a flooring company install. Great news is that its all 20% off until the end of this month!

    • @poodledad
      @poodledad  4 года назад

      wow 20% off is pretty great! I would use the product again if I had to make the decision today. I do like the longboards.

      Which one did you go with. I love the seaboard oak color but not a fan of the scratch marks .. wonder how it looks in a large room? Maybe the aged hickory is similar color without the scratch marks?

    Cali Bamboo has a newer color called Huntington Hickory that you would probably like a lot! We're purchasing the Aged Hickory for our home. Thanks for the review - very helpful!

      Yeah that color looks awesome. So, for our major floor renovation that I mentioned when I shot this video, we waited, and waited, and waited for Calibamboo to come out with the new colors that they mentioned in the comment above but they didn't arrive and we ended up going with the Classic Acacia color in their calivinyl pro line. The floor is very pretty BUT the dark color is a bear to keep clean. Which hilariously is in the fine print on the maintenance guide of that floor. It's very good quality and we put down about 1400 square feet of it which I installed myself. Now they have a bunch of new colors with a number of options that I think we would have preferred, so it's good that there is more variety now. I do like the longer and wider planks they have available now.

      @@poodledad Dang, I'm sorry you weren't able to pick one of the newer colors! The classic Acacia is beautiful, too. Glad you are happy with the quality! Enjoy your floors. We can't wait to do the same soon.

      Yeah the Lav Mic is a game changer. I don't think the audio would have been tolerable without it given the small space.

    Jigsaw to cut an ellipse. Sometimes you have to walk it in i.e. multiple trim and mark to reach the desired fitment. Also, yes start on the square side and work toward the tub.

    • @poodledad
      @poodledad  3 года назад

      @John Karmire I did try jigsaw, but it was a challenge to do anything other than straight cuts due to how hard this flooring is with the limestone base. Maybe I didn't have the right blade on jigsaw. Agree with the square side working toward tub. When I did my second bathroom I did go that route. Thankfully caulk covers a multitude of errors.

    Do you want the floor to look like one piece (one big piece of wood), or do you want it to look like seperate wood planks? The colour variation helps with your floor.

    • @poodledad
      @poodledad  4 года назад +1

      I guess it depends on the floor you choose. Some of them have a lot of variation and you want to spread the different planks around. The Aged Hickory doesn't have a lot of distinct planks so you will notice some repeated planks. It's easiest to see if you look at the knots. But really you aren't going to notice unless you try to look for it.

    How did you fit the flooring up against your tile wall. It looks almost as it’s curved on the bottom?

    • @poodledad
      @poodledad  4 года назад

      Yes, it's curved at the bottom, which I imagine is an advantage if your floor is down first and then you tile the wall, but it was a challenge for installing the new floor. I put the vinyl floor as close to the tile as possible (probably 1/4 inch or less) and then used white caulk to close the gap. It worked pretty well and still allows the necessary expansion space under the tile. When I did my other bathrooms, I actually decided to remove the bottom row of tile first, then install the floor and then add white trim where the bottom row of tile was previously.

    hi, I am wondering. does it color fade over time?

    • @poodledad
      @poodledad  4 года назад

      I haven't noticed any. They do say to try to avoid direct sunlight. The aged hickory I installed in both bathrooms doesn't get much direct sunlight so I haven't noticed any fading. I have two spots in our house that the classic acacia gets direct sunlight for 5-6 hours a day. I try to close the curtains during that period. But I haven't noticed any fading but its been less than 2 years since install.

    I’m installing Calibamboo vinyl pro with mute step this week. It’s a beautiful product and I love how green it is. No smell at all, Certified by the external companies, etc Plus, the price was right. On the con side: MAN! I am *not* finding this to be an easy installation! Can’t score and snap it with a utility knife, at all. Broke three blades and gave up trying. Wound up buying a flooring cutter - looks kind of like a guilliotine - for about $159. Did you use a special kind of cutter or a standard utility knife? This is also the most fragile locking system I’ve ever encountered. Little gray pieces flying everywhere. I’d probably go back to an easier product that I’ve used before if I didn’t love the look & feel of this so much.

    • @poodledad
      @poodledad  4 года назад

      I gave up on the score/snap method as well. I found it took too long and didn't give great results so I used a table saw. If I had to do it over again I would buy a sliding mitre saw. The table saw was very needed for the rip cuts though. I didn't have issues with the lock system but maybe the mute step line isn't as rigid.

      How do you like your floors now?

    • @poodledad
      @poodledad  3 года назад

      The aged hickory has been great. Doesn't show dirt or scratches. We eventually did the rest of the house with the classic acacia which we also like but it shows dirt/scratches a lot more. Overall we are happy with them.

  • @lebanay

    Great video! What did you use to make the rip cuts??

    • @poodledad
      @poodledad  5 лет назад +2

      When I did the bathroom I used a jigsaw and circular saw, but that didn't work great. When I eventually did the rest of the house I used a table saw. I would definitely recommend a table saw.

    Agree, nice video Jason. We actually have a new series of Pro Vinyl right around the corner, here's a preview: bit.ly/2CvZrur Hopefully there's one that can work for the rest of your home. Also, minor, but can you correct "Cali Vinyl" in the title of the video? Thanks!
