Produced by John Boccardo and Jeffrey Schwarz
Armed with a limitless Rolodex and a Benedict Canyon enclave with its own disco, Allan Carr threw the Hollywood parties that defined the 1970s. A producer, manager, and marketing genius, Carr built his bombastic reputation amid a series of successes including the mega hit musical film GREASE and the Broadway sensation LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, until it all came crashing down after he produced the notorious debacle of the 1989 Academy Awards.

This man was a one-trick pony! That one trick worked in the right place at the right time, but it fucked everything else up like with the Oscar! Enough said.

His Broadway production of La Cage was NY’s biggest hit musical for years. He put Travolta and countless others on the map. The documentary said he was quietly philanthropic paying student’s’ college bills without making a big deal. He got our minds off Iran and gas lines for some good times…in addition to Grease.
