Bert Convy was the best. He left us way too soon. His version of this game show made laugh the most.
Allen Ludden, Betty White, Tom Kennedy, Gene Rayburn, and others are laughing their asses off up there remembering this stuff! 🤣 Rest in wonderful peace, all of you ❤❤❤
Bloopers and gaffes make the world so much better. Bert, Allen and Tom made this show memorable and down to earth 🥰
Allen was cute when he messed up, but Bert was cute and sooo funny when he messed up; he makes me laugh and laugh. Thank you, Bert! 🥰
This is why I like old game shows. Leaving stuff like this in for is to see is much more entertaining than the overly polished game shows of today
Agreed it shows how human game show hosts are.
@tinwoods case in point WoF. 1997 I believe was the last year that Pat had spun a Bankrupt on the final spin after that all Bankrupts hits were edited out.
@@bmhedgehog2 Actually, the last time Pat hit Bankrupt was on a January 1998 episode.
boy are you gonna love people puzzler
Well they kept Kekes mistake lol 😆
Gene Rayburn and his famous funny flipping out. Using his favourite term, "Dingbat". Gene stole that show. The bloopers they did showed just how chaotic the show could get, especially Bert Convy always blurting our the answers to the puzzles. Just made the show comedy.
Gene Rayburn was angry.
Can you imagine how Gene would have reacted every time Bert did that?!
I love Betty White's reaction, when Bert said "mmm cloth".
She was like “bitch what?” 😂
How long have you been taping this show
"IS BETTY WHITE GONNA HAVE TO CHOKE A BITCH?!"
*mmmm*
*cloth*
Why did he do that
I'd think somewhere in Heaven Bert Convy would love this video because it shows he wasn't the only Password host to mess up.
I think Mr. Potato Head was a game.
he would get flak no matter what because he wasn’t Allen…even though Allen had worse goofs
On the most recent version, Keke Palmer has apparently messed up on one occasion as well.
@@bluebear1985 That's apparently noted in a commercial, but I have seen no footage of it.
Bert Convy is a legend. Someone needed to give that lovely man some tape during the rounds so he wouldn’t keep steeping in it thousands of times. XD
That dead state from Betty White at the end was probably Allen Ludden channeling from the grave 😂😂😂
All three were great hosts.
Allen unintentionally saying the clue without knowing it is golden, especially as he knows he goofed without intending to
I miss Burt he was a light hearted guy made all his shows fun to watch
I just spent a whole weekend watching him host Super Password. He really was fun.
Allan too. He could be quite funny.
Bert had such a wonderful impish quality…I bet he was fun to be around.
0:47
Even the announcer is laughing
RIP to Allen Ludden (a former Corpus Christi resident), Tom Kennedy, and Bert Convy. Convy was fun to watch on "Tattletales" on CBS back in the 1970's. Kennedy jumped from network to network to host game shows, but never on FOX.
Dear old Bert...they oughta started calling him "Blurt Convy" with how bad he was about giving away the puzzles.
The Bert Convy "Potato Head" moment may be the best Password blunder ever, not just for the blunder itself but for all the reactions as it was happening. First you hear Patty react, and then Nathan completely falls into hysterics, and THEN Bert realizes what's happened. This is never not funny.
Unfortunately, the biggest flaw with these blunders is that they prolong the game and more often than not prevent the more important bonus round from being played in a single episode.
Later episodes would replace these botched puzzles to fix the flow. The disclaimer at the end of the 1987 episode in the following link will prove it:
ruclips.net/video/RacTHUVX9Cw/видео.html
He opens his mouth too much, Which is funny. Shows how good Alan Ludden was.
oh to hell with it
@@lilsminingco4682 POTATO HEAD! POTATO HEAD! POTATO HEAD!
You’re right! The slowly rising reactions really do add to it! Too cute. And the fact it happened twice in a row, or at least in the same episode! I just think he’s so endearing…I can’t help but love him.
Once Bert's giving away the answer became an ongoing thing during tapings, I'll bet they had at least one person on the studio floor crew have a roll of tape ready to go if he gave too much information to a puzzle.😁
RIP!! I CAN IMAGINE ALLEN LUDDEN TOM KENNEDY & BERT CONVY ARE IN HEAVEN TOGETHER TALKING ABOUT PASSWORD & JUST 😂😂😂 LAUGHING THEIR ASSES OFF!!
Sometimes the bloopers are just as entertaining as the game play
8:55 "Bert gave away the second puzzle." Classic line from Gene Wood.
too funny lol
He was helping
@@Dim4323 *NO*
"Oh, shut up, Gene!" - Bert's usual quip to Gene Wood when Gene fires shots at Bert.
@@TBONE_2004 I thought Gene Rayburn was in the audience and the comment was directed at him
Bert had a bad habit of accidentally saying the answers and that got me dying laughing.
😂😂😂😂
There was one case where a celebrity gave away the puzzle a bit too early, in that case Marty Cohen. After he made a guess with the clues BROAD and SHOULDERS revealed, he quickly made a joke guess, which turned out to be the correct answer. Bert joked that he was glad that it wasn't him who gave away the puzzle this time. In case you're wondering, I think the answer was JOAN CRAWFORD.
That clip was on here, or even the entire episode too. Still is. That was one of the rare times Bert voluntarily asked for the tape when Marty blew the puzzle when Bert threw to commercial. I believe during the commercial break the producers gave Marty the sarcastic treatment and had him put his hands to his mouth when they got back from commercial. It was hilarious.
Bert is very funny in his bloopers.potatoe head was the best. This shows how good Alen Luden was!
1:55 LOL, RAYBURN RAGE!
These were hilarious bloopers. Thank you for sharing this.
I loved watching this video. I also greatly enjoyed Bert Convy's forays with that tape.
Whenever Bert facepalms, everyone knows he messed up.
Bert Convey kept giving away the answer, but I'm wondering if that was the time he had a brain tumor and didn't know it yet. He died young with a brain tumor.
R I P Burt seemed like such a nice man
They all were, Ludden, Kennedy, Convy, and Philbin were all nice guys...now they're all gone.
I saw an episode on Buzzr yesterday where Bert blew another puzzle where he said "For the Coliseum" instead of "For the game" when the answer to the puzzle was "coliseum" and they had to throw out the puzzle.
I saw that too and it reminded me of his other gaffes. I loved that they left them in the broadcast, makes me laugh.
@@marioyoung2645 Bert we love you man amen
if memory serves me correctly, a noisemaker like sound was heard
I remember the "coliseum" incident when it first aired when I was in college.
There should be a video for that one.
Man, Bert Convy was a funny dude, it’s super sad how he passed
He died of the worst brain tumor you could get: a glioblastoma
I saw the Mr Potato one tonight on Buzzr. I had it muted when i was getting ready for bed and i was looking over every once in a while and saw something off. Unmuted to late and then there was a commercial. I was curious to know what happened and then it was mentioned after it came back. Still didn’t really understand fully what happened still cause i wasn’t really watching. So, i’m glad i found it here in this compilation. It’s So satisfying when you find online exactly what you are searching for.
They're all funny moments, but
"(Mr.) Potato Head" is the funniest to me.
12:15 whos mary 😂😂😂😂😂
12:45 Cloth 😂😂😂😂😂
Even with all his blunders,Bert Convy was the best game show host,so smart and funny, amazing guy
Bert made more bloopers than any password host
I have a feeling it would have actually gone _more_ smoothly if they let the hosts know the puzzles in advance.
But where’s the fun in that.
I don't think that would be allowed because of the quiz show scandals
Game shows developed in the 60's-80's time frame took a lot of care to prevent the appearance of the game being fixed or fake. The hosts had to be in the dark on quiz-type shows like this to plug a potential leak.
well if Bert knew hed give it away accidentally consistently
I like in the Password Plus every time Allen says a mistake the crew goes like "bum bum bum bum"
Straight up hilarious.
@@bkachief i meant Tom
Cookie Dylan the bit is still hilarious
I think that was producer Robert Sherman who did that.
Allen Ludden: 10 points, I'll keep my mouth shut.
Bert Convy was a legend of his time, gone too soon...
he was so funny
It kind of makes you wonder how he would have done with "Match Game" in 1990 had he been able to host. He did a week of pilot episodes in 1989 (two of which I think are on RUclips), but he couldn't continue once it was ordered for series by ABC due to a brain tumor diagnosis.
Bert is my forever crush permanently separated through the time space continuum 😍👑
Poor Bert 🤣🤣
Two OYSTER puzzles 🧩 both of them were thrown out. The first OYSTER puzzle wasn’t Bert’s fault. The board operator messed that one ☝️ up!!
ROFL Rayburn calling Tom "Dingbat"! Priceless
12:49 such a funny moment!😂 and omg what a beautiful elegant woman Betty White is!!!
@4:47, Nathan Cook had a very infectious laugh, he passed too soon.
I had to look him up since I had no clue who he was. You're not kidding. He was younger than me.
I didn't even know he passed....😥
he died from an allergic reaction to penicillin in 1988. I was way too young to have known that one off the tip of my hat.
And at 6:05 too
8:02 all the sound effects play 🤣🤣
I’d like to imagine the sound guy burst out laughing and accidentally hit every button lol
You know something went *HORRIBLY* wrong when all the sound effects play.
Even the NBC klaxon played, that's when you know you messed up
I loved this version of password
"Mary? Who's Mary?" 😅😅😅😅
And they say Twenty-One was a problem lol.
Producer Bobby Sherman must have been a big fan of "Dragnet" because he vocalized its theme a few times over the years. Aside from the two times he sang it to Tom Kennedy, if you listen closely to the "Super Password" clips, you can hear "Dragnet" at least two more times.
There's no words to Dragnet theme.
Ah, yes, the Pulitzer Prize Winner - "Author Godfrey"
9:39: This is the producers way of them really pissed at Bert. Poor Bert. LOL
TOM KENNEDY IS A GREAT HOST
Uh, oh!(8:50ish). I, never, had seen this. I'm not giving it, away. Mr. Convy!(r.i.p.)
Poor Bert was too young!
Well now you can add Kiki Palmer to this list.
😂 i just can't stop laughing at each blooper.
RIP Tom Kennedy, Allen Ludden, Bert Convy, Gene Rayburn, Fred Travalena, Marcia Wallace, Nathan Cook, Gene Wood, and Patty Duke Astin!
I am admiring something, which, never before, have I seen: impeccable spelling, of all persons' names mentioned.

"How long have you been Taping the show ?" 😊
4:22 Hey, fellow NCIS fans... was that a Gibbs Slap? I think it is!
No, a Gibbs slap is along the back of the head.
1:34 All 3 men here hosted NBC game shows at the same time in the 1960s, when Wink Martindale hosted WHAT'S THIS SONG?, Tom Kennedy hosted YOU DON'T SAY!, and Gene Rayburn hosted MATCH GAME. Wink & Tom made guest appearances on each other's shows for 2 different weeks in April 1965.

Brian turned into Bert Convy 🤣
Somebody call up Bert Convey, he isn’t the biggest screw up yet
I ve seem so many comments saying Bert's gaffes were due to his brain tumor....he wasnt diagnosed until 1990 and died in 1991. The show ended in 89. He hosted the show for it's entire 5 year run....so really not that many gaffes when you consider the 5 year time period. The goofs really were just innocent and funny mistakes I think. People read into them to much.
Potato Head! Potato Head! That part got a bit creepy for me...
Burt Convy was so great.
I think Bert Convey suffered from short-term memory loss. Though the term is somewhat a misnomer because it's not a loss of memory. It just when information is in the process of being transferred from short term memory to long term memory, and cannot be accessed during the transition.
considering he developed a nasty brain cancer, it might have been an early sign of things to come
3:46 UH-OH HE BLEW IT

Bert was just batting 1000
6:37 No, you're not the first. Tom Kennedy did this on Password Plus. 2:38 3:10.

"Hmmm. Cloth." LMAO!
Tom Kennedy got in trouble 3 times, same for Bert Convy. Tom Kennedy admitted it, Bert Convy never knew that happened before.
Gene Rayburn made Tom Kennedy cry, after he made a mistake, for saying "Prune".
@@paullarue2010 Did he really?
Yep.
I just realized something. Allen only made two mistakes as hosting password, while almost everyone else did at least 3 mistakes.
Was He starting to mess up do you his brain cancer?
This is just a small sampling of the many yrs. of (Super) Password (Plus). I'm sure there were others.
According to someone I know who worked on Password Plus, Allen had his moments too, but they usually ended up on the cutting room floor, because instead of laughing them off like Tom or Bert, Allen would get visibly pissed off, and the producers didn't think that was good television.
Allen’s early shows were mostly lost so the number was likely a lot higher than that
@@blozier2006 that’s in addition to the earlier shows being all but lost except for a few episodes

How long have you been TAPEing the show
He died right after MG91 was cancelled.
Bert Convy was a good host, before he died in 1991.
I was thinking about these Password incidents because I saw a Wheel of Fortune clip where Pat Sajak gave away the puzzle.
@Cassidy he said “ I’d rather be the host than the contestant, quite frankly” when there weren’t enough letters to solve the bonus puzzle, which happened to be “quite frankly.” After the show, Vanna says “Do you know what you just said?”
