    This car was meant to be leased, driven for 36 months then turned in, Ideally you can tax deduct lease, lease on this vehicle is $1500 a month. Even with excellent credit. That's how Mercedes structures their business in the states for automobiles more or less. These vehicles arent meant to be driven around for numerous of years go anywhere do anything. It's not profitable, they tried that and in the early 90's Mercedes Benz almost went bankrupt. However, you get some of the automobiles best technology and comfort. if you go further than the 3 years, your looking at a much lower residual value and if your talking about 18k mileage allowance, then your looking at higher lease terms. From my experience with various leases, from Japanese to German most vehicles you lease will run roughly 55-60% of the vehicle's MSRP. That's a crude but fair and reliable way of quickly calculating your lease.At a base price of $100k with zero down. ( never pay anything down for a rental, aside from small fees of plates, and other expenses) lease rates are based on depreciation rate, money factor ,which is depended on credit on, and Milage which also affects overall residual value and the lease length your looking to get loaned $55k and 0 down, assuming you opt for 18k miles a year allowance( which is the national average of driving yearly now and above the 12k they start with that will increase payments by another 100 dollars a month from Mercedes to your overall payments. ) that's about 18,500, call it 19k a year. Your looking at $1500 a month.

      over 50 grand in 36 months and you dont even own it..not to mention gas and insurance. Unless its a dirt cheap lease, people who lease are absolute fools, same with financing shit they cant afford to buy cash. if you cant buy it twice, you cant afford it.

      The Sounds of the Suburbs can you please elaborate?

    • @thesoundofthesuburbs
      @thesoundofthesuburbs 4 года назад +7

      @@atreidy First of all, cars, including Mercedes-Benzes, are as durable as ever. It's not true to say that they are disposable. Second, leasing is much more common in the United States than it is in the rest of the world. Leasing is far from an overarching profit-making strategy. The primary role of leasing in Daimler's bottom line is that it moves product. The captive lender does make some money from leasing, but it is not the most important factor. A sale is a sale. Whether it is leased, financed, or purchased outright, Mercedes is making virtually the same amount.

    Im sitting here thinking 🤔, can you imagine the cost if anything were to go out, out of warranty? Slowly im starting to think even the cheaper cars are starting to get pretty tech savvy and Im like, even though the cost of the car is cheap, repair out of warranty isnt,. For example, radar guided cruise control on a corolla standard. Vehicle is cheap, however, I wonder what the cost would be out of warranty.

    • @mrubuntuking5257
      @mrubuntuking5257 4 года назад

      If you've got volume knob, tuner knob, and a switch input button for USB or Bluetooth, IMO you've got all you need. I love all of the screen features, but if they broke I could still access everything I actually use. i My one-touch windows are finicky, but I never noticed until it was pointed out because, out of muscle memory, I always held the switch down the peasant way anyway. Without radar, it still becomes regular cruise control, although luxury brands will probably intertwine the two more. Most cars post-2000 are difficult and unsafe to drive without ABS/ESC, not just new ones. Kind of like fighter jets that a computer stabilizes because they're so precisely balanced to get the best payload and speed, a human pilot would crash. If you look at cars that keep ESC off between restarts, like the Honda S2000, McLaren Senna, or Mustang Shelby, they were specifically designed to be better for human drivers.

      Mercedes, bmw and audi will put any little techy thing in the car to raise the price and drop the reliability. Technology is whats killing cars reliability today, of course cheaper plastic parts and cutting corners for profit but stuffing more and more technology in cars is not good.

    • @derschutzsargent5490

      Look Into It well that is the case when you live in America etc. Mercedes in Europe isn’t the same as in America. If they are produced in Germany you really don’t need to worry for years. And if you live in Europe especially in Germany it isn’t very overpriced, and even if sth. don’t work anymore. Here in Europe all American cars and reliable brands like Lexus are one of the most unreliable cars. It’s a matter where you live and where the car is produced. Because Mercedes has factories all over the world, and you need to look where the Mercedes you want was produced.

    The refreshrate on the digital speedos seem to be intentionally low, which is super annoying. That has always bugged me, but I never really understood how much until I got my Raptor which shows every single digit as you accellerate or decellerate. Just seems so much crisper! For such an expensive SUV I'm surprised Mercedes haven't figured that out... or I don't understand why they have chosen not to do it correctly?

    Have GLS450 and it’s a total lemon. Few days into the ownership, in the middle of the highway, all infotainment system shuts down, no safety system works, had to pull over and restart the car. Currently waiting for trunk mechanism part because it’s malfunctioning, trunk won’t completely open or close. Key fob keep gets unsynced. And best part is dealership wont do anything about it! :) all these problem happened literally within a week of receiving the car.

      Windshield fluid keeps emptying itself even though I never use it.
      Trunk was fixed, but now the panel doesn’t match after the fix.
      All those problems aside, it really depends on what kind of driver you are, but I don’t recommend GLS. Even if it didn’t have a problem that is. Make sure you test drive one, and compare it to its competitors. I test drove X7 M50i and X5 M Comp few weeks ago, and it drives amazing and miles better than GLS.

I can see why people who are ok with spending $54,000 on a 3 year lease would be ok with this, but for the rest of us, it makes no sense. You'd have the Telluride purchased for a few grand less than that. This isn't a rant on how good the Kia is, but a question as to when will vehicle costs reach the point when buyers collective say, "No thanks."

      I was just thinking the same thing. It’s the old Highlander with a nicer interior and hydraulics.

    This would be a perfect vehicle for my 70 year old father. I say this because the exterior design just screams old man. Lol.

      TrollstationFM 96.5 Haha the front screams old man, but I thought the rear screams Karen demanding satisfaction at Starbucks.

    I think electric is the way to go. When it accelerates, you can still hear it. I guess it is quiet but electrics are more quiet, particularly when you accelerate. Can still hear how the wheels sound going over different surfaces. The interior is conservative with the expected infotainment system. I guess you want to show its performance capabilities so you gun it a lot but this thing is a cruiser that doesn't get sloppy in corners so that's where it's best.

    It will probably be a real pain in the ass to repair this thing in case it fails. Especially if you have to do a transmission replacement. I always hear that the maintenance on these new Mercedes is complicated as hell. I don’t know much about cars but I can agree with that. With all of this technology, surely, the mechanics have to remove a lot of parts to get access to what they need to repair in the first place.

      You said it yourself. You don't know what you're talking about.
      It's not much more difficult than any other comparable SUV.
      If there is a fault with a transmission due to QC or a design flaw, it will likely fail under warranty or be covered through recall.

    They’ve got to put a wood steering wheel on that bad boy. Plain wheel looks out of place with the rest of that cabin.
