Banks have been sued over the over draft fees. I was a plaintiff in one of the cases against my bank. I can talk about it because it was years ago and the case is closed and it was years ago. I saved my reciepts and proved that the order of transactions did not match what the bank said. It wasn't hours, it was days apart. They literally took an entire week of transactions and ordered them in the highest amount to the lowest amount and charged me 35$ for every charge that was over drafted, one of them was for a pack of gum. We won the case because my evidence was physical, I had the receipts. One of the charges was from over a week prior but they claimed it was after. Save your reciepts and sue.

I later found, when I received my statement, that I had been charged a hefty overdraft fee. The bank claimed that debits hit the account immediately, while deposits aren't credited until the end of the day! Moreover, that one overdraft fee caused me to have less money than my bookkeeping said that I had----leading to 2 more overdraft charges. "If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered...I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies... Since 2020, the banks have been over-leveraging their assets, which was one of the reasons for SVB's implosion. I have never been okay with keeping much money in the bank. I simply focus on diversified investments through a financial advisor, collect my profits, which I either spend or repeat the process. Never been this comfortable with my finances.
I have learnt not to trust corporations, especially these banks. I was badly hit by the '08 financial crisis. Since 2019, I've just been focused on investing through a financial advisor and it has been paying off. No major loss has ever been recorded since 2019 i started. I'm closer to having a million now than i ever was with the banks. I'm never going back to banks full time.

Your joking right. Biden is a joke and Harris is even worse. Thank the Lord they didn’t get into office. We’d surely be in a full blown war with Russia along with NATO
My granddaughter bought me a Firestick, I can watch many shows. With smart tvs, who needs cable. I can watch RUclips, Newmax, movies and other shows for free. I haven't had cable in years.
Nope, no pay-TV services anymore. I got rid of cable and use an antenna to get local broadcast channels (the major stations still broadcast over the airwaves) and sometimes free streaming services (they have far too many commercials). My main use of a TV is for watching DVDs I pick up for cheap or check out of my local public library.
Actually B of A invented that. I was victimized by this when I was 19. B of A was sued for this practice and fined, but I recieved nothing from the fine. Banks get no sympathy from me.
My mom is in her mid seventies and on social security. She is paying fees to BofA every month. She forgets things and is learning disabled. I feel like they are taking advantage of people who don’t understand.
People have forgotten that the senator from MBNA allowed credit card companies to charge interest rates above the 25% that NY state considers usury. Years ago this happened.
People who can't control their spending probably shouldn't apply for credit. If they are not paying it off every month then they are spending beyond their means.
Went out for cheese burger and fries, plus wife had burito/rice/beans. $37 including tip. No drinks. Might be the last time I ever eat out. Low to medium restaurant.
My husband and my birthday are 2 weeks apart, there's this restaurant we always go to that does hibachi .on your birthday you get a free meal so we always take advantage. We noticed this year the restaurant wasn't as busy as it normally is and they were closing earlier. When we looked at the menu we got our answer. Everything on the menu went up 10 dollars. Soda went up 3
Banks always have the option of closing someone's account if they're deadbeats and regularly overdraft their checking or credit accounts. Tough love, but some people need a 'smack-in-the-face' reality check (pun intended).
Just in the last week by me, a Hard Rock Cafe, a restaurant that's been open 30 years and a chain Franchised hair salon has announced their closure by the end of December.
Great video Dan! Yes thats RIGHT! the OVERDRAFT FEES practices and games were a practice of B or A & Hells Fargo way back in 1987!!! Yes over 37yrs ago! I personally know of this and that is why i DUMPED>>>> hells fargo & (BigAsses) B of A 37yrs ago!
Great video. I really enjoy your content. I could not agree more with you on the buy now pay later (BNPL) programs. These are very predatory. Sure, it speaks to the state of the economy, and yes it's sad when someone has to use these programs to buy groceries, however it does nothing to help people with financial health. I'm conflicted on your point about overdraft fees. Sure, we have all been impacted by a deposit not landing in our account on time, that said I do feel people need to be more responsible with their money. I would submit often times those who over draw their account(s) are not doing so in an isolated manner but rather it occurs with greater frequency. If I am right, then there should be some remuneration to the bank who is also taking on expense on their end. We can debate what is an acceptable amount versus what is considered excessive. Thank you for all you do. These stories are really great.
I just wrote a post asking where Dan was today and then I see you answered it in your post. I like that green train, it reminds me of the train that was at Descanso Gardens. Thanks for posting.
The U.S. economy can actually get better if only the govt can start making better decisions for the sake of it's citizens, cos' they've really made life more difficult for its residents.inflation has left the less haves bearing the brunt of the burden. Its already eating into my entire $620k retirement portfolio. Like where else can we invest our money with less risks?
Knowledgeable Investors know where and how to put money during a crisis in order to reduce risk and maximize returns. See a market strategist with experience if you are unable to manage these market conditions.
Agreed! this is why I work with one. My $520k portfolio is well-matched for every market season yielding 85% rise from early last year to date. I and my advisor are working on more figures for this year. IMO, financial advisors are the most sought-after professionals after doctors.
Talking about advisors, do u consider anyone worthy of recommendations? I have about 100k to taste the water now that large cap stocks are at a discount... Thanks.
”Amy Lea Kohlert” is the licensed fiduciary I use. Just research the name. You’d find necessary details to work with a correspondence to set up an appointment.
The overdraft fees are crazy!! I recall when I was younger and made a check deposit. I then had numerous overdraft fees!!! I went to the bank after a work day and inquired about it. Seems that they didn’t deposit my paycheck. Well, good think I ask for and keep my receipts!! That was my proof of deposit and they had to reimburse my overdraft fees. Not sure how they fixed my deposit they had no record of…. But they did. Wells Fargo of course.
The rest of the story with questions. 1. all over drafts are not the fault of a bank. 2. Attempting to pay bills at the last possible moment, buying things you really don't need, spending money that you don't have lead to substantially more overdrafts than a bank's software. I don't own stock in a bank, work for a bank, haven't written an overdraft. 1. go ahead and reduce over draft fees to zero. It doesn't affect me. 2. reducing over draft fees is like YOU, the voters, raising wages in california fast food restaurants to $20 and hour and now the Los Angeles City Counsel raising the minimum wage for people who clean hotel toilets near the airport to $28 an hour. Only truly stupid people feel that all banks, all hotels, all corporations are blood suckers and will not react to stringent, changed regulations. 3. Someone at a bank is saying to himself right now, with the growing restrictions on how we make money, I think we should stop lending to bad risks. I think that we should make a rule that two overdrafts a year will trigger us not extending any credit to the customer or perhaps freezing his account until he makes a deposit covering his overdraft.
Wouldn't clean toilets for less than $45 hr, too much risk getting diseases. Agree with your analysis on banks, people need to learn how to count, add, and subtract!
Key phrase in Dan's opening, "Say you have $500 in your checking account and you go out over the weekend and spend $900...". Banks and credit Unions tell you up front not to bounce any checks and if you do so there will be a fee. They also tell you up front what those fees will be if you do break that agreement and bounce a check. Of course no one bothers to read the disclosures and they don't feel as if an agreement should be enforced. Total bullshit.
I miss the "brick and mortar" stores; I want to see it before I pay for it. I've been cheated when a delivery was not made or Amazon sent the wrong crap. Just lost $75 with Ubereat; the delivery person took a picture of some other house and it was considered ""completed". No way to talk to a person (faceless and not responsible ) I'm house bound and way older than Dan. Thanks for your posts; I look forward to seeing you daily, like I know you.
Pay with credit card, dispute charge if problem. Being old and housebound is no excuse for being dumb. And, if you are truly housebound how can you go to a brick and mortar store to look at stuff?
I made a Gorton’s crispy fish fillet sammich just now. Tasty and fresh hard roll from local bakery, shredded cheese from Wisconsin cows, artisan tartar sauce. Cost about $2.00 and I didn’t idle at a ghetto drive thru. (I live in a great neighborhood but all drive throughs and fast food are ghetto/low end.)
The bank crisis isn't over yet, and experienced individuals know credit crises don't end quickly. Some find it amusing that some think it's resolved, but in reality, we're headed for a major economic downturn due to this credit contraction.
After the '08 financial crisis, I've learned not to trust corporations. Since 2020, I've been investing with a financial advisor and have had no major losses, so I'm not going back to relying solely on banks.
A common oversight is that banks operate solely in the service of yield. Personally, I am hesitant to keep substantial sums of money in a bank. Instead, I opt to invest under the guidance of experts, reap the advantages, and diligently save for my retirement.
That's grand! I believe the high-value gains are backed by years of study/experience in knowing what makes what tick. the portfolio-advisor that guides you is who though?

Our trucking company uses a private firm but any driver can use a firm out of Denver called ATBS... if you're in trouble our need help contact them Thanks Dan for bringing this subject up
The problem with using silver coins for normal merchant transactions is myriad: A. they likely won't give you silver coinage back as change; B. Are they going to honor the current Troy price per ounce, or the face value of the coin itself? For example, pre 1965 coinage (dimes, quarters, halves) have the same stamped nominal value as our current non- silver circulated coins but are 90% silver? This will be tricky at best, if it even happens.
All these issues stem from an economy grappling with uncertainties, including housing problems, foreclosures, global fluctuations, and the aftermath of the pandemic, leading to instability. Rising inflation, sluggish growth, and trade disruptions demand urgent attention from all sectors to restore stability and stimulate growth.

I’ve actually had stuff come out unexpectedly, but what you can do is schedule your bills to come out on certain days If you get paid on the first, for instance, schedule all of your bills to come out on that day and just wait to buy anything until every single payment comes out and checks clear Then, get what you need with what’s left of the money and then put the rest into savings If you follow a simple banking strategy, you’ll have few to no surprises
But, banks take your money and lend it out knowing they don't have enough money to pay off all the loans they let people have. We should charge them interest for using our money.
I had an employer that was constantly passing bad checks. Our payroll would bounce, and so would the checks for outside contracts for other services. So although the banks are mad I do think that the penalty should be higher so people balance a budget and live responsibly
It’s about time banks must live on a budget, because some people these days are scraping by financially, and barely making it If banks must live on a budget, they’ll they’ll see what the other half goes through!
That asinine to think gold coins be used as daily currency.. 'Gold Backs' be the closest 'gold' you safely get. Small denomination Silver is feasible to use as long as they NOT 1 oz coins (they counterfeiting those)
Over the past couple of years, King Soopers here in Colorado has started charging a 75 cent fee if you want cash back if you pay with your debit card. Absolutely infuriating
I have a line of credit with my bank. If I'm overdrawn they advance money for a very low fee, based on number of days I use it. I would never bank at 1 that charges 35.00 per oder and drains my bank account.
I have RUclips TV. I looked at other services but all about the same price. On RUclips TV you can stream up to 4 TVs at a time. But at $83/ month it’s getting ridiculous.
Same here I literally just got RUclips TV the other day and Sunday ticket as well but I watch a lot of football and I don't have any other streaming services so it made sense for me.
@ It’s not bad considering me and my 3 daughters all watch it Plus when traveling I can watch through the Firestick app but not on the RUclips TV app So 20$ per viewer not terrible!
👵🏽 i have banked with Disney for roughly 40 years and they are excellent. They don’t charge all of those idiotic fees…. 👵🏽 Happy holidays, Beverly Hills. Thank you for working so diligently in the Public behalf. 💞🙏🏽
Dan, Every armed service, police, fireman, post office has to take the OATH. If they refuse they are not excepted in America. So why happens if you dishonor the OATH? What do you think about the OATH to America? Semper Fi. Thanks.
That's weird because I bought cheese and you can get a 1 pound 'cube for free if you buy two 1lb cubes (and you can mix varieties of cheese). I thought milk sales were going down these days, so why should yogurt go up?
Banks are the biggest rips offs when it comes to these overdraft and other fees. Years ago, I used to bank at a mid-size bank, and they charged me $350 overdraft charges because they deducted a $900 check first, even though the time stamp was after the 10 small debit charges that came before it. I should have just been charged $35 for the $900 overdraft instead of 10 small micro charges of $1-2. I did not pay these charges and closed the account.
Having the least $4,000 without investing it is just useless and a waste, how do banks grow? They continually invest with our money we saved with them to grow more than we all.
Investing is beneficial as it paves a promising future for our children to maximize your wealth, it is crucial to allocate your funds in high-yielding investment.

I cut off cable and use my amazon prime on occassion. But I have a antique VHS collection with all happy and normal movies before everything went woke.
Why are credit cards raising their interest rates with less than 30 days notice from 20% to 39% with not only my handicap brother who has fair credit, paying on time but limited income and even my credit cards have soared the same. I think the answer is they are pushing people to bankruptcy or those who can, will pay off their highest interest rate bills first. It’s insane what the cr card companies are doing. How many more people are going thru the same thing?
I have RUclips TV Dan. I get all my college football stations on it. I also share it with 3 other family members so it ends up costing $20 a month for each house ( I pay it all because I am DAD). There are plenty of movies to watch and you also get unlimited DVR recording for each family member and you can access it from multiple devices. Not too bad a deal.
I live where native people were undisturbed by whites until 140 years ago. They knew of gold deposits, but didn’t value it. What had value were things like fish oil, dried fish, woven garments, storage boxes, etc. They needed no currency.
Why oh why do we NEVER teach the consumer to only spend money that they have ?????? If people are fed up, QUIT SPENDING MONEY they don’t have. Problem solved.

Don’t blame Biden. Blame the voter…. Guys didn’t vote for Biden or Harris
Your joking right. Biden is a joke and Harris is even worse. Thank the Lord they didn’t get into office. We’d surely be in a full blown war with Russia along with NATO
Regardless, who voters voter for, yes, blame Biden. He and his henchmen have done everything they can to ruin this country at every level.
We cut the "cable" cord over a decade ago. Discretionary income does not allow for many such things.
My granddaughter bought me a Firestick,
I can watch many shows. With smart tvs, who needs cable. I can watch RUclips, Newmax, movies and other shows for free. I haven't had cable in years.
Saved 220 month cancelling spectrum

Nope, no pay-TV services anymore. I got rid of cable and use an antenna to get local broadcast channels (the major stations still broadcast over the airwaves) and sometimes free streaming services (they have far too many commercials). My main use of a TV is for watching DVDs I pick up for cheap or check out of my local public library.
@johnmusser8925
Great
Thank you for the video Dan ❤
Congrats on 300K subs!
Good morning Dan from Yuma, AZ.
Keep up the great work and Merry Christmas to you.
How's the weather 😊 Michigan cold.
@djdj-qx3hb A nice and balmy 70 degrees today!
That watch-dog group has done NOTHING...limiting over-draft fees is ridiculous. They should not exist in the first place.
Back in the day 30% interest and more was called usury and was illegal. The banks are making a killing.
Merry Christmas 🎄
People have forgotten that the senator from MBNA allowed credit card companies to charge interest rates above the 25% that NY state considers usury. Years ago this happened.
People who can't control their spending probably shouldn't apply for credit. If they are not paying it off every month then they are spending beyond their means.
Went out for cheese burger and fries, plus wife had burito/rice/beans. $37 including tip. No drinks. Might be the last time I ever eat out. Low to medium restaurant.
If you like Chinese ‘fast food’ then Panda Express is a good deal now, two people can eat for $ 25, no tip required
Thank you for your advice!
People can't make change for the dollar now.. How will they make change for silver that changes value daily?
My husband and my birthday are 2 weeks apart, there's this restaurant we always go to that does hibachi .on your birthday you get a free meal so we always take advantage. We noticed this year the restaurant wasn't as busy as it normally is and they were closing earlier. When we looked at the menu we got our answer. Everything on the menu went up 10 dollars. Soda went up 3
Love it Dan. Merry Christmas
I can agree with $5 for first overdraft, but it should ratchet up $10 apiece from there, no limit. One is minor mistake, more is abusing the banks.
Banks always have the option of closing someone's account if they're deadbeats and regularly overdraft their checking or credit accounts. Tough love, but some people need a 'smack-in-the-face' reality check (pun intended).
Thank you, Dan!
Just in the last week by me, a Hard Rock Cafe, a restaurant that's been open 30 years and a chain Franchised hair salon has announced their closure by the end of December.
OMG it's the end! Never before has a business closed!
Thanks for the video Dan! Good to see you at Irvine regional park as well!

I just looked her up on the web and I would say she really has an impressive background in investing. I will write her an email shortly.
Those fees are usurious 😩
@@elw6150 You would be lucky to get 10% of that, and if you don't take it 100 others will be in line to take it.
Hi Dan. Nice to be back following you! All the best!
My exbrother inlaw, didn't pay his payroll taxes.. bye,bye business & wife!
Yikes!!
his wife left him because he did not pay payroll tax? she must be extremely patriotic.
@tommak6516 They filed jointly
TU 4 ALL u do Dan💖 Merry Christmas!!!
Amazon just sent me the wrong thing today.
Pay with credit card, dispute charge if problem. Being old and housebound is no excuse for being dumb. And, if you are truly housebound how can you go to a brick and mortar store to look at stuff?
McD gripe- my beloved fish sandwich has a hard bun, a spit of tartar sauce and hard to find cheese. Serenity NOW.
Thanks Dan for bringing Jack back on the show (9:43). 👍

As a trucking company I know that you have to file and have to pay. Truckers have the hardest time with doing taxes. I reccomend a service. Our trucking company uses a private firm but any driver can use a firm out of Denver called ATBS... if you're in trouble our need help contact them Thanks Dan for bringing this subject up
The problem with using silver coins for normal merchant transactions is myriad:
A. they likely won't give you silver coinage back as change; B. Are they going to honor the current Troy price per ounce, or the face value of the coin itself? For example, pre 1965 coinage (dimes, quarters, halves) have the same stamped nominal value as our current non- silver circulated coins but are 90% silver? This will be tricky at best, if it even happens.
Merry Christmas Dan!!! Enjoy the parties and soak up good cheer!!!
I have been hit by the multi overdraft scheme many years ago. It is the banks scam to rake in the overdraft charges. Not ethical at all.
Why can't people better manage their finances? Its YOUR FAULT for letting account go negative!
Sometimes we make a mistake in our register.

As a banker, once told me checking accounts are king fees are queen.
I’ve actually had stuff come out unexpectedly, but what you can do is schedule your bills to come out on certain days
If you get paid on the first, for instance, schedule all of your bills to come out on that day and just wait to buy anything until every single payment comes out and checks clear
Then, get what you need with what’s left of the money and then put the rest into savings
If you follow a simple banking strategy, you’ll have few to no surprises
Number 1 . That?a good one today!
Sorry like 9
I have YT Premium for no adds but I cut all cable and broadcast off 7 years ago. When I stay at hotels, the TV stays off.
But, banks take your money and lend it out knowing they don't have enough money to pay off all the loans they let people have. We should charge them interest for using our money.
Then they wouldn't loan any money at all...
@@bamahama707 They need to make it fair and stop charging us ridiculous fees while it's the people that own the money.
I had an employer that was constantly passing bad checks. Our payroll would bounce, and so would the checks for outside contracts for other services. So although the banks are mad I do think that the penalty should be higher so people balance a budget and live responsibly
Thank you Dan
It’s about time banks must live on a budget, because some people these days are scraping by financially, and barely making it
If banks must live on a budget, they’ll they’ll see what the other half goes through!
That asinine to think gold coins be used as daily currency.. 'Gold Backs' be the closest 'gold' you safely get. Small denomination Silver is feasible to use as long as they NOT 1 oz coins (they counterfeiting those)

Hey Dan.....the name Santa...take the letter N out and put it in the back and tell us what it says....😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
You should see what OUR provider charges...
@ It’s not bad considering me and my 3 daughters all watch it
Plus when traveling I can watch through the Firestick app but not on the RUclips TV app
So 20$ per viewer not terrible!
It went up nearly 14%. Google is very greedy.

Dan, Every armed service, police, fireman, post office has to take the OATH. If they refuse they are not excepted in America. So why happens if you dishonor the OATH? What do you think about the OATH to America? Semper Fi. Thanks.
Semper Fi, brother. Nothing happens when the big guy dishonors the oath.; they think we are fools that don't get the game.
a fireman takes an oath? to do what exactly?

Happened to us, took the big charge first
Costco just raised their Kirkland Greek Yogurt from 5.99 to 6.79 a 14% increase. Yeah but there's no inflation.
That's weird because I bought cheese and you can get a 1 pound 'cube for free if you buy two 1lb cubes (and you can mix varieties of cheese). I thought milk sales were going down these days, so why should yogurt go up?
OMG. Try complaining to Costco.
Where can we buy that big inflatable Santa Clause?
People want to know :-)!
Everyone needs a different stream of income, such as where one can invest some part of his / her monthly salary
Investing is beneficial as it paves a promising future for our children to maximize your wealth, it is crucial to allocate your funds in high-yielding investment.
That is true my dear, investment is the best idea presently and without it, human struggles are worthless.
Of course I rather invest than saving my money in the bank, amazing comments here🎉

Very nice simulation to help eliminate cash for good....

Gold has only been used as a currency since Lydia 600 bc
I live where native people were undisturbed by whites until 140 years ago. They knew of gold deposits, but didn’t value it. What had value were things like fish oil, dried fish, woven garments, storage boxes, etc.
They needed no currency.
HULU is 97$. That's what I pay. Crazy
I cant be broke i still got checks🤠
Agreed😊

Definitely Wells Fargo and Bank of America need to go
"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered...I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies... The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs." Thomas Jefferson.
I'm closer to having over a million dollars now than i ever was with the banks. I'm never going back to banks full time.
I think this is something I should do, but I've been stalling for a long time now. I don't really know which firm to work with; I feel they are all the same but it seems you’ve got it all worked out with the firm you work with so i surely wouldn’t mind a recommendation.
