      @@santiagoparra3861 if you're an artist who wants to use procreate, it can be enough if you want ro be. There are ways to make it enough. For example, transferring files every once in a while. But if you have the money to buy the 128 GB, I'd say do it. At the time of commenting this, I didn't have the money to buy it. Now, I'm kinda regretting not buying the 128 GB instead. Oh dear, ive spent whole evening yesterday trying to figure it out by myself, i wish i waited 24h for your video...
    some other things ive noticed - you can binge export everything when youre in the gallery view, you just need to select files you want to export. I exported my first a4 painting i made with its 10 iterations (from intial sketches to final renders) as .procreate, .psd, .png previews and 5 gifs and the whole pack was 1,5 GB. Its going to take less space if you tyrn the animation recording off, also .procreate files take more space than .psd but im not sure how combatible they are

    Just to answer the question if anyone was curious - his procreate drawing (with the recorded timelapse) was ~100 MB (or .01GB). So in 1 GB, you could store 100 drawings. So for the 32 GB budget iPad, you could store 3200 Procreate drawings.
    (This is of course based on a simplified assumption that you are solely using the ipad for procreate when in the reality the system/OS probably takes up at least 1-3GB and of course you will probably have other apps, photos, etc. taking up space).
    Extending the calculations for the common iPad storage sizes:
    32GB: 3200 procreate drawings + their timelapses
    64GB: 6400 procreate drawings + their timelapses
    128GB: 12800 procreate drawings + their timelapses
    256GB: 25600 procreate drawings + their timelapses
    (Technically, one GB has 1024 MB but I used the conversion of one GB has 1000 MB for easier calculations.)

      Samuela Sanderinos 100 MB is not 1GB, it’s 0.10GB. So 1000MB is 1GB so it’s 10x time more drawings

    Really having a hard time deciding between an iPad Air (4) 64gb with the magic keyboard and pencil or the new Pro 11” and wait/save for the extras. Wait for it to ship and wait for the pencil and keyboard as I save for a few months to get those accessories. Or get the 64 air. My budget is tight, but I’ll get the education discount. The difference between the 256 air and 128 pro is like $50. But the 64 air would give me room for those necessary accessories and no waiting. I sold my MacBook Air laptop to make this happen. I have a desktop iMac I rarely use.
    Main use for iPad will be writing papers, web browsing, email, bit of zoom, media consumption and streaming, reading, editing photos, note taking and light drawing. Playing some games. It will be my first iPad in many years and I’m really excited.
    What would you do? Is 64gb enough? I also have one terabyte of iCloud storage!

    36$ per yr so 100$ for 3 yrs usage works out to be about the same as the difference between a 256gb second hand ipad and the base 64gb model. The problem is file corruption is common so it's good to back up anyway. I'm looking at an ipad air 4th used going for 420$ usd which still has applecare+ until Nov. Apple devices are expensive here so a guy at MacStore said it's a reasonable price. Problem is there's no theft coverage and I don't want it to get stolen. 64gb seems so little. I had a iPhone X 64gb and it was full all the time even without huge games or anything. Apple should provide 256gb as a base model really. A tip I heard is to set up your ssd with a Mac before using it and that reduces corruption of files.

My use would be procreate for digital artwork to than sell, some note taking with online school, saving some shows or movies for when traveling to watch, maybe some light social media browsing and possible pictures but not tooo many. I plan to than buying a newer ipad pro and giving this one to my partner and he does RUclips videos, gaming, movie downloading, photography and photo editing maybe some video editing too. Im stuck between 256 gb and 512 gb. I want it to be enough for what i plan to use it for till i than upgrade and allow my partner to have enough space for his use. Im also stuck on 256 gb for $420 no warranty or 512gb for $630 with 2 year warranty. I dnt even know if any of those are a deal but i want a pro 12.9 thats not a newer model seeing i spoiled myself already with a iphome 13 pro max 512 gb (for the selfies) lol so refurbished older model it is for now but idk which way to go.

    My girlfriend fell in love with my iPad Air 4. I want to get her one with the Apple Pencil. I can only afford the 64gb version.
    Her usage is mainly drawing and doodling in Procreate. She also likes using the iPad for surfing the web, media streaming, Tumblr & Pinterest, and playing some games. Nothing too heavy duty. Is 64gb enough? She also has lots of cloud storage, 2TB.
    She also uses her MacBook Air laptop to store photos, videos and big files. The iPad will mostly be for streaming, sketching, surfing and a few games. Lots of cloud storage!
    I’d rather spend the money on the pencil than the extra for 256gb, since she is an artist. I figure she can eventuality offload her larger drawings to the cloud or use external storage, if she needs to free up space.
    Thoughts? 64gb is enough?

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  3 года назад +1

      iPadOS and updates will take up at least 16.5GB. So technically speaking you're only left with only 40GB of storage.
      It's usable if you don't mind moving your local files to online storage.
      I actually don't mind moving Procreate files onto iCloud via the Files app. But the problem is sometimes they thumbnails don't show so if you want to look for old art just from the file names, it's not easy. That's one downside.
      My recommendation is, if you have access to Apple's refurbished store online, get the refurbished iPad Air 4 with 256GB storage. It should be 15% off retail price. Or get the 2018 or 2020 iPad Pro 11-inch with 128GB or 256Gb storage.

      If you have actually moved the files out from Procreate to iCloud Drive, the iPad storage should drop.
      Note that iCloud has many services under it. iCloud Backup and iCloud Drive are under iCloud and share storage.
      When you move Procreate files out from the iPad, you also move them out from iCloud Backup, but when you move them to iCloud Drive, they are back under iCloud just at a different place.

      The iPad Pro seems like a better deal but third party pencil is not going to be as good as Apple Pencil. That model came put in 2018 so if you buy secondhand, I’m not sure why there will still be 2 years warranty.

    Hello, I love following your videos! I need a bit of advice however. I love procreate and the Apple Pencil and can’t give up it’s pressure sensitivity so I am pretty much stuck with Apple. I have my old iPad pro, but it’s strength is also it’s weakness, being the 12.9 screen. The mini 5 seemed like a great portable sketch option, which is what I want right now but Black Friday did nothing for them in fact because I waited assuming it would I in fact missed what had been the best offers for the mini 5…. So that brings me to my question/advice seeking, because it has to do with the ill advised and much older iPad pro 9.7, apparently only able to support 4 layers in procreate. But the prices are unbeatable. Also my use case would be sketching while out and about in an “a la prima” single layer (as far as I understand) approach, likely doing Thumbnail sketches, so I wonder could it actually with 128 gb or higher actually be kind of perfect for such a use case? Perhaps, or almost certainly I am overlooking numerous other pitfalls of the device itself?

I think hopefully I am just confused, because I remember that yes it supports procreate, just relatively poor using the 4 layers as a measure, I just hope that doesn’t indicate many other things that could ruin even a more spartan use case?

      @@SolarPunk80 All the Procreate brushes should be able to work as the processor inside that iPad is powerful even though it's old by today's standards. The main limitation really is the RAM which limits the number of layers you can create.

      Depends on what’s the price difference. If difference is small, I recommend getting the iPad Pro instead.

    Hi! whats the size of your Ipad pro? is that an 11inch? and if it is, how was it in a artist perspective? Cause I've been torn in if I would get the 12.9 or 11 inch for drawing. Thanks!

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  4 года назад +2

      12.9 require a table or support to use. With 11-inch, you can hand hold and draw. That's the main difference. 11 inch is slightly larger than A5 size which is still a good size to work with. It's also much cheaper. MIne's 12.9-inch.

      @@teohyc strange how most arttists say that 11 inch should be good to work with but almost always use the 12.9 inch version themselves. i am yet to find someone using an 11 inch ipad pro for digital art review purposes. i agree 12.9 inch is a bit too large to support or use portability wise but i think serious artists always prefer using that. further, can anyone tell me why there's almost never an offer on the 12.9 inch version and always on the 11 inch base model. which is too less of storage?

    • @teohontech7141
      @teohontech7141 3 года назад

      @@durba-718 Which screen size to get really depends on personal preference. If you have to bring the tablet out often, then the 11-inch is more appropriate. It really is significantly more portable. I'm using the tablet mostly at home so 12.9-inch is alright for me.
      The 11-inch provides more value for money simply because it's much cheaper than the 12.9-inch.
      Even if you get the 11-inch, I don't think you'll go "oh I wish I have bought the larger one". 11-inch is still quite big.
      Having said that, I recommend checking the refurbished section of Apple's website. Refurbished units are 15% off and the 2020 units are more worth the money compared to the M1 iPad Pros. E.g. US $609 vs $799 for 11-inch iPad Pro 2020 vs 2021.

    Which would you recommend between iPad 6 128GB and iPad 7 32GB? iPad 7 has a greater RAM but i don't know if that really matters for art purposes. Thank you!

    • @Shyn-Emberblossom
      @Shyn-Emberblossom 4 года назад +5

      The RAM only really matters for the amount of layers your art can have. There are some youtubers out there that explain this at length. I would advise you to take a look at the ipad air (2019) if you plan to use the pad for artwork

    As someone who creates digital art to print.. posters... tshirts.. art with many details...
    Do you think I could get away with buying the 64gb ipad 9 ??? The 258 gb version is just so expenssive..
    Right now the 64 gb ipad is 333 euros. Then still the apple pencil and accessories.
    The Samsung galaxy tab 6lite 2022 is 270 euros..
    What do you think? Its driving me crazy. But I'm afraid the drawing on the tabs6 lite will be too slow.. too anoying and too pixely?
    Could that be an issue with the 64 gb ipad as well ?

    Ipad pro 11 inch 128 gb or ipad air 64 gb? The main reason I want to buy is because I'm a student and I will use for my notes. But at the same time i want to use procreate and i will probably download some apps too. People say that ipad air is better to buy because of a14 but i'm kind of hesitating. I'm not sure if 64 gb storage would be enough for me. I also don't want to spend too much money so... yeah I'm helpless right now :')
