A few days ago, the same thing happened to me. When I add gas above 2500 revs, the car goes into safety mode. It does not allow more than 2300 revs. My wife drives that car (Opel Insignia). The diagnostics showed that the turbine pressure was too high. The vacuum pump is fine. The solenoid valve that controls the curvature of the vanes in the turbine itself is fine. The control lever on the turbine itself is stuck, so it does not close the wings, so the turbine has been working non-stop at maximum for a year. Do you know what the problem was? One hole in the air cooler (Intercooler) caused the computer, measuring the pressure in the turbine, to conclude that the pressure is insufficient, thereby opening the wings to the maximum, due to air leakage in the Intercooler. The result? The turbine works non-stop with the maximum number of revolutions...so we have curved blades in the turbine, which were bent due to excessive temperature and therefore a broken turbine. It is fortunate that here in Germany, a repaired turbine costs only 250-350 euros. Of course, look at the condition of your Intercooler, because the same Cooler rubs against its support due to vibrations, where a hole will certainly appear. If your car is more than 3 years old, be sure to have someone clean your EGR valve, it is certainly full of soot. An engine that sucks in a large amount of soot will certainly not last long. I am speaking from personal experience. I apologize for my poor knowledge of the English language.

You did some good inspection in order to diagnose the problem,,if shaft in the turbo has no play is worth it dismantle the turbo of the car and clean it 👍 ,,nice one

I always use injector cleaner in my pd tdi about every six months and some times undiluted in the filter housing with a new filter, then give it a good run in third gear and that helps clean out lots of crud and brings down the emissions for mot👍. Good vid that 👍

Hi can I ask...always been a bit unsure testing the boost solenoid...am I correct in thinking when car is started solenoid opens and allows vacuum to flow through it and when you reach higher revs closes ?

exactly the same problem as mine, limp mode and engine light came on no boost. had it diagnosed and it said the same but garage told me I need new turbo. but another said turbo is fine could be split in pipe but not sure what to believe. I'm guessing its worth buying that turbo cleaner first?

Respected, how much of this liquid goes, and whether this injection goes in three cycles, and whether this is effective, for some time.

i get it that that stuff works in a fashion as car was bit better but i think the limit movement of the actuator rod is just a "sticking plaster" over the problem that will surely come back. In my mind the customer needs to decide if he wants to spend money on a new turbo and egr valve.

Would DPF cleaner free up a turbo also?

Been watching all your vids on dpf cleaning . I’ve a 2016 merc Vito 1.6 diesel . Every now and then loses power and goes into limp mode. When I turn it off and back on again it goes back to normal apart from engine management light on . Could that be the start of a dpf problem

Sounds exactly like what this car was doing. Usually caused by Underboost or Overboost when you use more than 50% acceleration or going uphill or towing triggers it more often. Limp mode and Turbo issues can then lead to DPF issues

I can’t seem to see a “rod” on the turbo 🤔

Hey great job ..who keeps putting fuel in the car ..it had fuel light on ..then quarter tank ..then 3/4 tank

So the fuel level was too low for me to run the car for the cleaning process and test drive. I carry 20L fuel cans in the van for scenarios like this. The ignition was on when I filled it so it takes some time for the gauge to catch up 👍🏻

All that shit in the turbo will get pushed down into the intake manifold and covering the sensors in gunk this is a very short term fix. Expect further issues and money spent. Not a good idea
