    For anyone who feels sorry for Edward VIII (David) just remember he had Nazi connections. It wasn’t just something made up for the series, they even show actual photos of him and Wallace meeting Hitler and other high ranking Nazi officials pre-WWII. And it’s believed he was made Governor of Bermuda in order to move him away from the war and any German connections he may have kept. Plus, it’s also thought that had the Nazis successfully invaded Britain, Hitler would have made Edward king again.
    Otherwise, this is a very good scene, one of the series’ best.
    Edit: And for anyone in the U.K., on All4 there should be a documentary, Edward VIII: Britain’s Traitor King that goes into detail on his Nazi relations, and Mrs Wallace’s too.

Wallis was completely self-interested and definitely a narcissist. She was still married to her second husband when she basically became David’s (Edwards’s pre-regal name) concubine. Edward meanwhile was quite content for a while to bring down his own government and split the country down the middle so he could marry her before he finally accepted abdication.

      De echo este es un himno que se llama "Zadok the Priest" y fue compuesto a principios del siglo XVIII por George Frédéric Handel para la coronación de S. M. El Rey Jorge ll en 1727 desde entonces pasó a formar parte de los Himnos de coronación y es entonado en cada ceremonia.
      Este himno en particular está basado en el relato bíblico de la unción de Salomón como Rey por parte Zadok el sacerdote (1er de Reyes 1, 38-40) mismo relato que se ha usado desde el siglo X para coronar a los Reyes de Inglaterra

    • @ruperttmls7985
      @ruperttmls7985 2 года назад

      @@marlongaitan4651 La primera parte del himno Zadok the priest es sencillamente magnífica, creo que solo “Land of Hope” de Elgar se le acerca pero sin superarla.
      Zadok es solo uno de los diversos himnos que escribió Handel para la coronación de Jorge II, pero parece ser que por errores en la planeacion no salió tan espectacular la primera vez que se usó.
      Además lamento destruir la idea de algunos, pero es probable (por su letra) que ese himno en particular no fuera compuesto para la coronación, es decir para el momento en que se coloca la corona, sino para el momento en que el arzobispo unge al monarca con aceite (una escena que por cierto no es publica sino oculta de todos), la unción es otro de los diversos pasos de la coronación.
