The decisions and outcomes shown in this video are what Bioware considers the "default" canon, moving forward to Dragon Age: Inquisition. Footage provided from base world state in Keep.
Dragon Age II is an action role-playing video game developed by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and OS X. It is the second major game in the Dragon Age series, and was released worldwide in March 2011.
Varric: “It is our last, and perhaps our only chance for pea-“
*BOOOOOM*
Varric: “.....Well, shit..”
I like Hawke, they're the only main protagonist in Dragon Age that isn't "destined" to be a hero, or have to save the world (on a larger scale). Not to mention, their skills are entirely self-taught. Unlike all the other protagonists you make which all have formal (class) training.
City Elf didn't recieve "formal" training per say, and Commoner Dwarf didnt recieve any training at all. Mage Hawke was trained by his father
I never finished DA 2, and just played Inquisition recenty. Came here to fill gap between Origin and Iqusition, thank you, now i know DA 2 Epilogue is Conclave between Mage and Templar which is very begining of Inquisition
Happy to help!
This was very helpful. I started dragon age inquisition without realizing there we 2 games before it. Naturally it made much of the beginning confusing. So this helps clarify it :) but without totally ruining any desire to play the first 2 (which i do, just not right now)
Thank you! Dragon Age: Inquisition is totally great. As for the first two: Origins is also a blast if you can withstand a plethora of bugs and glitches. Dragon Age 2 is... very different but still some good moments. Inquisition *might* be the best one of all, though.
I know I'm a bit late, but thank you so much for making this video! It was extremely helpful.
Joanna great! I'm glad you enjoy. Any other games you'd like to see this for?
JumpFoxJump Maybe Bloodborne? it's the only souls game I haven't played, so it'd be pretty cool to see a video for that.
Cheers man 👍🏻🐉🐲 just about to begin inquisition
you're gonna enjoy it!
Thank you, I beat Origins and adored it, but I'm about halfway through DAII and I just...can't. I wasn't expecting much and I'm still disappointed lol.
I completely agree. It's one of the only games I've ever intentionally skipped most cut-scenes for. I couldn't stand how it felt.
@@JumpFoxJump thanks to you now I'm back on track with Inquisition!
@@sinny721 Inquisition is sick ; so much better. I'm one trophy away from the platinum in that game. Beating it on the Nightmare difficulty, I believe. Maybe one day.
exactly what I needed, thanks!
Glad I could help. DA2 was a little hard to get through for most DA:O fans.
Thanks, i can't bare to play DA2 but i want to know what happens there.
That's what we're here for! Any other games you'd like to see this for?
Ccjetnbfi 99 Dragon Age 2 isn’t a bad game whatsoever in my opinion. I’m biased because I’m more into the action game combat than I am strategy but I still think it’s a fine game. The RPG elements are super dumbed down though, I’ll agree. Having a voiced protagonist instead of a voiceless one does that
story is pretty good in da2 its more faction based conflict and has alot of dark stuff going on
this game is actually great ,even though not a masterpiece like origins , it's 3x better than inquisition which came after
@@finix74193x better!? Inquisition doesn’t recycle the same 3 environments the entire game and has A LOT packed in it for the price you pay!
DA:I is a great game, but not worth $60+ overall
Is there one of these for Inquisition. Just something about Verric telling the full story’s is nostalgic
You know, that's a great idea... Hopefully we get one of those for Dragon Age 4. And if we do, I'll post it!
thank you for the recap. I played DAI few years ago and finished it, enjoyed it, but I am revisiting it again, however I realized that I never understood what the story really is
you're very welcome, my friend.
@@JumpFoxJumppersonally, which one do you like the best among three?
@@eriol33 I really think Origins had the best story and characters, while Inquisition featured the strongest gameplay and systems. Although, if I had to choose just one, it's would be Origins. Classic.
How about you?
@@JumpFoxJumpsince I only managed to play DAI and ditched origins during the early quest, I am yet to judge which one is the best. I actually bought origins, but the game doesn't have an option to play with a gamepad so I ditched it because I am too lazy to re-learn the game using mkb. ._.
I loved these recaps.. with all the anticipation for Dread Wolf Rises (aka DA: 4); do you plan to do one for Inquisition? 😊
I don't plan on it currently, but who knows, maybe one day! Thanks for watching.
Thanks. I beat this game when it first came out and don’t remember practically anything about it. Except for fighting the new looking Qunari and every single house/dungeon having the same layout…
I'm replaying the series and literally just finished 2 and wanted a quick recap before going into inquisition and yeah the game felt so small because they were reusing the same assets all the time. I read that EA is to blame for this, they saw the success of Origins and pushed Bioware to make Dragon Age 2 in like 18 months or something liek that which is really not a lot of time for this type of game. It's a shame too cause I feel like 2 had sooooo much potential and could've been regarded as one of the best RPGs if they only had time to flesh out things a bit more.
This is EVERYTHING? There's no "big bad" in DA2? It just seems like a lot of intrigue and regular politics. Kind of like Game of Thrones before all of the magical stuff starts to happen.
I mean, DA:O has the Blight happening, and DA:I has The Elder One. DA2 has...a family running around, and a growing civil war between 2 factions that REALLY starts right at the end of the game?
Am I just missing something?
Glowyrm DA2 has a different setup than the other games. It is told in three chapters that organize years of the time that is happening in the game. There is a lot of political intrigue, but you also have a lot of fighting and trying to take down big opponents. I was really surprised that I liked it as much as I did. You get to fight the Arishok, darkspawn, dragons, abominations, etc. It is different than DA:O in the way the story progresses, and you don't get to pick a character. Since the story is about the eldest Hawke and what she accomplishes. You get to pick appearance and class. As well, unlike the Human Noble in DA:O, your family's appearance is affected by your character design. For example, if you make your Hawke with dark skin and hair, your family will have the same. If you approach it as a different type of game than DA:O, I think you'll like it.
It is very important to the story. If you want to play "Inquisition", I would highly suggest you play it and the DLC "Legacy". It will really add to your enjoyment of DA:I.
Even the companion quests are full of action and have a lot of chances to decide what you think should be done. DA:O is still my favorite game by far, but DA2 doesn't deserve the bad reputation.
Anders is different from he was in Awakening, but there is a reason for it. At first, I thought it was messing up the lore, but it's all cool.
Unfortunately, you aren't missing anything. Unless I am, too.
Without this game inquisition wouldn't have happened.. Anders started the war.
A brain to appreciate realism.
Go back to your Biowaste tropes of DA1 and 80s saturday morning cartoon that is DA3.
Spoilers for DA inquisition; I wanna ask something. So the end of this video the story whereby the chantry leader ask the mage and temp leader to meet at the conclave, that is the end of DA2 story stop at? And it continue into introduction of DAI where the conclave is being massacred, all leaders killed?
Im so glad im not the only person who doesn't want to play da2
that thing is awful...
I like Dragon Age II. I don't care what anyone says.
exactly , it's a great game , even though I replayed it 3times , still I want to play it again whenever I see a video about it ,not as great as origins but 3x better than that wasteland inquisition
So That's that.. thanks.. might be gonna play Da2 in actual experience before i go to inquisition.
By the way i am from origin and awakening. Gonna play it this week, while there is no work yet lol.
great series to play when you're off work! get ready to go deeeeep
DA2 is worth playing the prologue and interacting with Flemeth overall…the rest gets very very redundant
How do you make this play? Is this from The Keep?
I actually played through dai without playing da2 at all.. I played da origins and I thought it'd be enough but as I thought about inquisition I wasn't able understand almost anything that was going on yet happy I'm now thinking about starting a new game with new knowledge of 2... Just wondering does anybody know if it's worth it to play dragon age 2 at. Like is the trilogy games something like the mass effect series and everything carries on???
Does anyone know what was done with Meredith's body/statue? I'd think it was be unsafe to leave it where it was.
Good question...
The third game you'll find out
DinoDragon x Inquisition answers this?
I know old question. But in dragon age inquisition it can be found in the black emporium, and in one of the comics it actually IS where they left it, but the canon whereabout is the black emporium and the one in the city was either a mistake or a fake one left as a reminder
@@ryanblack3686 its in the black emporium dlc ,in the back of the room
Hey ...nice man
Thank you for this I cannot stand to play this game lol I loved DA1 and after this video will be playing DA3
You're gonna love DA3!
subscribed.
So this entire game is just a setup for inquisition?
Why wouldn't they at least attempt to connect to orgins, the entire game feels like a modern marvel TV show, mediocre writing, bad looking effects, and dangling names and places from previous works to keep your attention.
Are you kidding? It's directly connected to DAO. Hawke and his family are refugees from Lothering who flew from the Blight. Plus, if your Warden is a human, Hawke has family ties to them since he is from the Amell family.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it shown that there was growing tension between templars and mages in Origin that led the Circle Tower to almost being destroyed? There's been quite a few examples through out Origin and Awakening of mages discontentment with their treatment in the Circles and Anders being the antagonist of DA2 directly ties it to that storyline of DAO.
The rest of your argument is but subjective since in my perspective Hawke story is more akin to a Greek tragedy than a Marvel movie and I don't find the graphics of this game much worse than Origin.
You says it's not connected to Origin but then make a point about the game dangling names and places from the previous games which contradict your argument.
