I finally understood the name. You need to be immortal to actually max out your character for free.
Should actually be named Diablo Eternal (if the "eternal" part wasn't already taken by an actually good game), because the grind is eternal.
Or because of the undying gambling addiction it will give millions of children
Lmao
How Blizzard can keep giving us %800 value is mind boggling. How does the company stay afloat with such a charitable heart?
Maybe they just mean theat they get 800% value 🤯
I'm surprised they haven't marketed it as infinite value, because anything is infinitely more than nothing.
@@sazzowl_gaming8203 heavy COPE
The fiat to in game currency? Lol. You may get 800% value in that transaction from lowest to highest package. What it doesn’t tell you is what percentage of the game your $100 buys you.
Because the kids this is marketed to use their parents' credit card.
You only need 8 million platinum if you play this game. I don't play the game, so I need zero platinum. That's my secret.
🙂
I do this glitch as well 👍🏻
So glad I never touched this. Cancerous game.

Well done
The delivery on this video was actually really well edited/scripted. That Echo Crystal delivery was spot on.
thanks
@@DarthMicrotransaction np man, you deserve it
Its so predatory. I would love to see Activision Blizzard go down in a fiery lawsuit at this point. Have all the franchises be sold off to other good companies.
Its not predatory, its focused on a particular part of the market, leaving out the common person. Its just a game for the rich
Mobile games in general are ruining the market but I agree with you something needs to be done tbh
@illegalopinions4082 no one's forcing them you use a fucking credit card, a game isn't addictive if a person has discipline to not spend time and money on it. It targets low self esteem people just like any other business targets other people. Porn, gentlemen clubs target men or women with little or no sexual interaction or poor quality women in their lives. Food adds target gluttonous people, drugs and pharmaceutical target weak minded people who want an easy temporary solution than a long arduous painful recovery from an injury (I know because I was one). Video games in general are predatory in nature when if they aren't meant to be. Is ot a shitty way to market a game and mechanically force people to pay to get more powerful, sure. But it's still up to the individual to say "fuck that, I'm going to go to the gym or for a walk or find a date or read a book and learn a hobby or skill rather than dump 100k on something".
It's only predatory if you let it be predatory.
They dont release it in countries that fight against predatory games/lootbox mechanics. This is why it's not released in the Netherlands and Belgium. This is also why rocket League and some other games completely changed their lootbox mechanics a few years ago.
@@Elaborance every time you check your phone, leave your house, enter a store, drive down a road with billboards, talk to an employee, you are being washed with predatory monetization practices. You're a buffoon if you thank that argument would hold more water than a bucket with no bottom.
It's scary how this is becoming normalised by blizzard, with OVERWATCH 2 etc, it slowly feels like a new era is coming soon from how it used to be. $120,000 to max out your character's gems is crazy to me tho how can a company realistically believe people will grind for that?
They have abandoned the love for the game, the higher ups control everything now and they are all old and senile.
LOL if you play 37 years you might be able to max it out
@@memeslol2110 Its clearly targeted to vulnerable people that are wayy more susceptible to making these sort of purchases, addictions are scary.
Those top levels are meant for whales...the peons are there to provide fodder for the whales.
Instead of 118,000 paying one dollar get one person to spend 118,000
This game is like a parody of what I think of when I read the term "pay2win".
"learn to pay noob" is the new montra
The game is so cartoonishly evil it's funny. Then you have all the corporate simps defending it saying "B-B-BUT ItS FrEE To PLay!!!!
@@dudebruh8534 free 2 play, but my time is not free LOL . Why would you waste your time on this "f2p" ,When there is lot more things to do free with your time .I will never understand these people "its free 2 play" bullshit
11:22 In this moment Asmon's brain short circuited when being told something he never thought would be possible.
I think his brain short circuited because he thought "Has this guy seriously never heard of an update to an online game?"
I guess the Immortal in the name refers to the players, seeing how long they need to grind.
And “Immoral” refers to the obnoxious greed of Blizzard. /s
@@hardcoreclassicenjoyer will never happen
Back in 2010 I was in a clan where the leader made it known that she was super wealthy, and we all had meet up and she lived up to it really. We all got super max gear and fashion thanks to her. And I mean the ENTIRE clan got it. In the same guild there was a FTP guy. Never spent, always grinded. As of today, me and another guy have gone to visit him in person and to say it was an experience doesn't cut it. I mean, they have a Polo area, stables, hunting dogs, Ferraris, lambos, RRs. And with all that for all those years before we met him rl he was super humble and always grinding FTP. So not everyone who is FTP does it because they are poor. Some just want the grind. Never a game like this tho lol
Which game did you guys play?
@@1993httphil it was called Celtic Heroes.
That's the point. He understands that games are meant to be played, not bought.
It's the same if you will not play sports, but just buy a trophy.
The reason you got 11 years instead of 37 to farm out the normal gems is because you were using the amount of gems + plat that the guy who farmed 3.5 mil plat was able to get in 253 days, where as he was using just the gem farming numbers and not the no-lifing of plat all going to normal gems as well.
Yo thanks man, i did the math the same way as him and was wondering where i fucked up
That is WAYYYY more reasonable and I think he boggled the math purposefully for shock value/clicks
Thank you Blake from Workaholics for making this incredibly informative video for Asmongold to showcase!
I love watching thede Diablo IMmortal videos. It´s so surreal that I laugh my ass off the hole time. It´s the best comedy content around.
There was a guy who talked about the difference between end games of these mobile games.
He was talking about 'gacha' games, but it has the same "build your character strength" aspect.
There are two layers to the gameplay.
The 1st layer is the base game experience: action rpg, tower defense, battler, whatever.
The 2nd layer is building some aspect (characters, units, summons, spells, etc) in power, usually to compete against others (pvp, ranked ladder, etc).
For most games, they have no confidence in the retention for the 1st layer of the game: it simply isn't fun enough to play over and over to keep players.
So for the 2nd layer, they institute the infinite grind: either the rarity of drops or the sheer volume necessary makes it so the "end" is so far off no one will ever feel like they've "finished" playing.
Alternatively, that 2nd layer may simply be the "real reason the game was made", to generate as much money for the company as possible.
The 1st layer being good enough to get you to buy into that 2nd layer.
It definitely feels like Diablo Immortal is in that second camp. But even the first situation is quite pathetic.
It's rare to find a mobile game that actually has a good, replayable experience from the baseline that doesn't feel compelled to delve into the extreme nonsense for their 2nd layer.
If you want to know if a game isn't going to be terrible to play, look for two things:
1. How hard is it to max something?
2. Is there gameplay that can feel fun and exciting even after repeated play?
If it has those two things, then even if it has some grind, it will likely not feel as "necessary", and will still be fun and engaging without some obscene paywall.
Honestly, for games that want endless play I've only found a couple that delivered on this outside of versus games (team vs team, or battle royale, where the repeat play comes from facing other human behaviors).
And even then, I've only found one mobile game that fits the bill.
It's exceedingly rare to find any company willing to put in the effort to make a good GAME, instead of just a "vehicle for monetization".
My guess has always been that Blizzard doesn't WANT players to reach max. They want you always playing to get stronger, and you will never 'max out', it's essentially not possible, unless you are REALLY bad with your money.
I think it's a mix of that and them being predatory. I hope one day this behavior all changes its probably creating so many loot goblins that will waste there life and money on things like this.the long term effects of this new age gaming tactics are totally going to have a negative effect
Wow, Immortal is getting even better! What an achievement!
I love DM. Thanks for reacting to one of his video.
he's singularly the worst shill of all time.
@@AvidanTheExpositor small world seeing you here 😅😆
I'm 36 and stopped playing all but 1 video game years ago, still love this content so good
Im still playing TES IV Oblivion too. It’s like a magic comedy that never ends.
Imagine ever playing Diablo immortal 😂
2nd most played on the Apple App store. Under genshit.
@@Lmfaocj Says a lot about the state of western society, thank you for further proving my point. 😂
A lot of people play it for free i think? But dunno. Maybe some of them top up some money for the glory of Greedy Lord.
@@Kpucin0 I assume 95% of the player base are people who play for 5 to 10 minutes then be their ass whooped by the whales. They leave, but the apple store still puts up the vague statistic that they played. Therefore driving in more people which restarts the cycle.
Imagine ever playing candy crush instead of Diablo. 🤡
Path of Exile costs about $30 to play effectively, thats it...play that instead
Effectively, yes. Minimum? 0, if you can handle messy stash tabs
Yea with Path if you want to play it super serious that $30 is all you would ever need but if you just want to play it casually just learn to manage your stash then it'll only cost 0$ forever
Can't wait for Stew's response to let us know how it's not actually that bad.
A very important question, had that guy who said 'OH YOU DO NOT NEED TO PAY REAL MONEY TO CATCH UP WITH WHALES' caught up with whales?
The most shocking thing is that there is still a community around that game.
Right, and they even brag about beating f2p players during pvp events L0L!
They call it Diablo IMMORTAL because only people who can live for eternity will have enough time to max out a character.
If you paid only 1 cent for every item, you would still need far more money than most people could afford. Not to mention that the system is still too complicated.
my biggest achievement of 2022 was quitting that damn game
Same
This is why me and my wife are sticking to Diablo 3.
Ah, yeah, the one that started out with an auction house from the get-go.
there has to be some number of people in a world where it would take 4 years to get all those gems.
that finally reach that point of getting all the gems, slot them in. and then just completely stop. and then jump out a window realizing what they did
Between Asmon, the original content and the beloved comments section; I was literally laughing the entire time.
If this is how Diablo 4 will be set up, then forget it.
I used to watch this guy when I played immortal. Hes pretty cool. Has some other channels as well.
Are they 'losing your ass in crypto' related. If so, i would believe it.
Blizzard needs to correct this problem in the next patch otherwise I'm out. To be honest, if people were making decisions like this for my company I would have fired all of them. No different than me charging $4,381,913 for a vinyl wrap that will take 2 years to complete. The amount of money to max legendary gems is already ludicrous and I'm venturing into R9 5/5's around $15k USD deep. The game is fun but I believe it'll die-hard when D4 comes out but if D4 claims the same standard then everyone's in for a treat and I don't think it's unquestionable.
Imagine if the current gems aren't backwards compatible.
Happy to see you reacting to Darth Micro - he's a pretty good content creator. I've followed him for years, he's a genuine dude.
All I gotta say is DM is a great guy for letting us know about all the things DI an not just click baiting us every DI content 😂 great stand up dude! Also like your videos asmongold.
Yea I used to watch him for some other mobile games and he is a great resource for unbiased news. A lot of content creators for these games end up shilling.
i'm just casually enjoying D3 for the 11-th year in a row
Just when you thought blizzard couldn't stoop any lower they pull a stunt like this
the reason Asmons number was 11 years and not 37 is because he used a number that included farmable gems and buyable gems from marketplace, seasonpass etc. which would be not really free to play i think. The other guy used just the farmable gems. But all of these numbers are taking verry generouse assumpitons for blizzard so i would not be suprised if a real free to play maxout would take double or even way more time. But the math is enought to show that we will never see one so.... whatever ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
NEW END SONG!!!!!!!! was working and listening to good ol Assmongler as some background noise while i work expecting the old end song and this was such a surprise and a jam that my boss looked up at me, saw me dancing and called me an idiot loool
I tried it, it was okay. Just a couple hours and some rifts. This video made me uninstall. I’m not about to mess around with this level of exploitation.
At least you got out before spending money on it, congratulations brother
You could just be investing in character gear but you also could be investing in port development and sailboats. It was a Blizzard npc that once said 'I'd rather be sailing.'
Diablo Immortal is a gift that keeps on giving.
More like a gift that keeps on sucking the life out of everything around it.
It’s like someone gifting you a block of plutonium for Christmas.
A cancer that keeps growing.
It reminds me of the game Cabal Online which I played for almost 10 years, a nation title "The Quaestor" took me 4 years to grind through a massively open pvp war map.
Someone has to pay the lawsuit settlement and you can be sure it’s not Blizzard 😂
Hey, somebody has got to pay all those union busters they're hiring.
Mobile games are just insane. I know Immortal gets a lot of WELL DESERVED hate but has anybody else tried any other ones? Like so many of these games have events that are quite literally "who can spend the most money" and they get an exclusive jpg for their profile
Man, I need to get into this business
Gives me Arcade game vibes. Can't wait to shove in 440,000 quarters.
Summary: More pay to win!
Here I am, worrying about Gacha games that require you to spend thousands to get what you want. Then I remember Diablo Immortal exists.
even a whale can only be milked for so much.. hell, even a degenerate crypto bro would think about spending 100k-150k on a game. mobile game. per character. for ONE set of gear. what if you get better stuff? rinse and repeat? dear lord.. its genious in its depravity
Don't forget.... "Do You Guys Not Have Phones" Never mentioned we needed hundreds of thousands of dollars too, lol.
When people dnk how to do most basic math , I lmao so hard .
this is the same company that shut down tbc classic servers after a year. you don't have any sort of security for your pixels at blizzard
3:12 holy shit it only took like a decade, but people finally understand what there word investment means.
You know theres tons of games out there and many other great ARPGS you dont have to play diablo immortal I dont get it. If you simply must play diablo and not any other franchise there is also absolutely fantastic diablo 2 mods that are very active multiplayer and are far better than diablo 3 or immortal in Project diablo 2 and Path of Diablo.
I mean its a live service mobile game. Theyre not meant to be "maxed out", its meant to have a persistent progression with the hopes that youd spend extra change for a little boost here and there. They dont expect many people if anyone to pay that lump sum or even close to it.
loved hearing Walt Jr explain diablo immortal to me
When you're close the max out one gem, Diablo Immoral II launches and the one you're playing dies.
who ever said "what if they add more" thank you.. thank you soo much lol i needed that laugh
"he's gotta sell that cat for gems"
No one buys a used cat. Those are free
I love to see DM on such a big channel. Ive been watching this guy for a long time:)
I’ll never forget when they showed this for the first time. “Don’t you guy have phones? “ 😂 thank god I didn’t bother getting into this trap shit
17:39 I tried to finish this timed event in a FTP game and I was doing so well I think I spent 5$ which is the reasonable price of a game. I got to the end and ran out of ways to make up the last 100 points or so without buying stuff. The psychology of that is so mindfucky.
It probably wouldn’t have cost me much maybe another 20 bucks or so. But it was the principal of the thing. I said no and missed out on the final reward. There’s still a part of me that wishes I did it.
That’s the power of the psychology especially once you buy into the fact you can complete your goal.
Super predatory tactics. Now imagine you're a kid with no understanding of this. It should be illegal to target kids with gambling basically
Remember back when some people said This game was too good to for f2p
I love that the ads on this are for Diablo Immortal, lmao
1100 card swipes. Damn, I'd have to hire a guy just to swipe my card for me or I'll be there all week.
Can't even believe there is still a demand in this game
I love how Immortal will introduce u to D4 monetization. Brace yourselves :)
"okay so you need to farm these daillies to get these materials so you can upgrade these other materials but to do that you will also need to farm these essence currencies but to do that you need to upgrade your farming level to bazinga tier for which you will first need to gather this other material..."
I dont understand why people play games like this
Imagine if in D2 the only way to get runes was to buy and find El runes and then craft up. Thats pretty much what this is.
7:00 He forgot to mention pampers and infusion, just in case...perhaps button for emergency situation "mom bathroom"
People are going to play Diablo 4 after Blizzard did every possible evil/greed in Immortals ? I guess we are absolutely doomed when everyone is just willing to forget and forgive evil.
This is why they called it diablo immortal because to beat it you have to live forever
Paid Immortal : Wrath of the Master Card
DM is so lucky you watch his videos. You boost his numbers a lot each time. But this gems were in the game since relese, the cost was there since release. Everyone know this since relese. Bellular said you need to pay 120k to max out "legendary gems", so yeah it's about 100k more to max out the nornal gems. People spending money in that game are just dumb.
It's called Diablo Immortal because you've gotta be immortal to max out a character f2p.
Darth Microtransaction bringing the maths!!!
3:16 that ahegao-face xD
Gems are capped at 400 per gem on the AH in Diablo Immortal, still.... ridiculous
I wonder how much damage this game has done to Diablos reputation? I NEVER bother waiting for reviews etc for games, im too impatient for that, But i will now. No way i buy the next diablo without see reviews and lets plays
I'd be 69 when i maxed my first character, I consider that a double win boys.
At Blizzard HQ:
"Oh no, those free players only need 42years more to max those legendary gems our whales paid so hard for. What should we do?"
"Let's let them farm another 37years for normal gems. We already got many complains from whales that they can't spend more money on their characters anyway."
Bobby: "Great Idea!"
Congrats you maxed out all 14 gems! With this new patch we added 10 more gems, have fun!
I'm 45 years old and I've been gaming my entire life and I don't give two f**** about this game or the people that created it
bro is just 11 years, i better start grinding now.
hell yeah 37 years full of cool gameplay LETS do this boy see you in 37 years
This is the patch diablo immortal really needed time to get back in the grind.
Because you need to be immortal to live long enough to max out all the classes.
I was just watching some of Asmon's old diablo vids for fun... Love it.
You'd have to be Immortal to complete your character in this game for free.
The saddest part is someone WILL max out their gems that way. There's some interviews of people that play BDO, the one guy spent 100k and didn't think twice.
I legitimately couldn't imagine spending that on a game.
It's a good thing I got 20 kidneys! 1 fully upgraded gem, here I come!
He's saying it would take 37 years at 20 gems a day which doesn't include the gems from Plat which asmond included
Ah ! That background music at the start ! If you know, you know.
I love Darth Microtransaction vids. Great to see his vidoes getting attention
I just find it funny because normal gems were like something for 99% pleb player base who could never max out a legendary and normal gem weren’t that strong. Now they matter more and they attack the one thing average players could at least manage.
cat denning used new ending music!? where is my asmon shoulder wiggle dance!?
11 years per character... PER SEASON BABY!!!
Sorry 37 YEARS PER CHARACTER PER SEASON.... HERE COME THE MONEY!!! You fools think bobbys yachts feed themselves?????
2:53 this is why metric is better than imperial, simple easy math, no random ass numbers getting in the way
