Fixing Cracked PVC Pipe - Joining with Galvanized Fitting

- I had to do a quick repair of one of my well lines.
The troublemaker was a PVC male fitting that had broken off inside a galvanized female fitting.
Straightforward fix using a PVC primer and PVC cement.
Bonus: Extracting the broken fitting.

Asking the experts: Is there a better way to extract the PVC piece from inside the galvanized fitting?
Just heat the metal with a heat gun or propane torch and the plastic will get soft and you can pull it out with pliers
You can also get a drill fitting for irrigation systems that will fit inside plastic pieces and unscrew the broken fitting
