It's just fundamentally better to watch episodes in a row. You wouldn't read the first chapter of 10 different books, then wait a week to read the next one. Plus, they use clever statistical analysis to predict what will be popular commissions. But then the execs hand over creative control without interfering too much.
I discovered I'm far more attached to characters and stories I've invested weeks on versus series I binged in a few nights. There's also less tension and buildup in the latter viewing type.
I completely disagree. I feel tension is lost when I have to come back to things every week. I've had more intense feelings binge watching than with normal viewing schedules.
My favorite series ever. Got one bone to pick....Snicket seems too theatrical. In the books he seemed more genuine. Sad and dramatic but genuine. Not like a depressing gameshow host like this guy. Hopefully in the actual show its acted a bit differently. Can't wait to watch it. Kind of scared after the movie but I'm putting my faith in this baby.
Idk. In the book it was weird but it felt like he genuinely cared/was saddened by the stories. If this guy puts more emotion into it. I think I'll like it. I loved the series so much
I love how they made this trailer. It's in line with the book - integrating fiction and reality, making it look like the cast actually went through difficulty to tell the 'true' tale of the baudelaire orphans
Books SHOULD be adapted to TV more than movies. There are a few exceptions like Lord of the Rings (and Harry Potter despite straying from source material sometimes), but you just can't fit loads of pages into a 2 and a half hour movie every time and expect it to work.
Yea GoT did it perfectly, but things like God Father missed loads of things out, I cant imagine it as a tv show but the book and movie were literally completely different!
Yeah. And maybe they'll be able to get the seasons out more quickly than the movies were able to be released. Even if the 2004 movie had been really well received the children would've looked too old by the time the later movies came out.
Charizarzar Yea, you've just got to look at Band of Brother/Pacific the detail in these were incredible even with just a mini series, whereas Saving Private Ryan and the thin red line had next to know real detail, I know SPR was not based on a true story but the thin read line had many references to war memoirs and they missed out on so much that they could have put in!
when I was in 6th grade back in 2006 i wrote to the author because I stayed every night when I was in fifth grade even in the day with the books glued to my face I was unhappy with the ending so I read it again in 6 the grade and decided to write to the author my teachers assistant helped me get his information his emailing address and he still used to his identity and acted as if I was in grave danger writing to him lool this was my childhood so I'll be watching
+Jamie y'all.... 2000s kids would know abt this one!!! after the first movie, I was like waiting for a sequel and which it never came out.... now Netflix??? really???😓😓😓👊👊👊i don't think it'll be Emma browning and co. etc, bcuz they're all grown up by now!!☺☺☺
0ver awesome!!! You're like the very first 11yo/kid that told me you actually read the series!!! Most kids your age are just into the divergent/hunger games blah3, boring... Anw, I was frickinly your age, just 10 yrs ago😁👍when I started to follow the series!!! Carnival one is cool!! I have the hostile hospital one for keeps!!! Personally, I think I like the (I used to be able to memorise the series in order, the title and all, but meh... I forgot it alr now...😝) bad beginning that's for sure!!! How they actually changed the ending in the movie...😝😝the Ville village is so chaotic!! The grammar aunt one is a lil bit annoying idky..😂😂
Easter eggs I've noticed on second viewing: -the littlest elf sign, vfd crate, yellow taxi, violets wedding dress, possibly the boat from the third book.
MY CHILDHOOD IS WEEPING TEARS OF JOY I'M SO EXCITED. I even got chills a bit when he said "a phrase which here means..." because those books taught me so many words when I was a kid. They are so important to me.
I'm definitely excited about his portrayal of Lemony Snicket, but I still can't help being just a tad disappointed that Jude Law didn't reprise his role, back when the movie came out his voice just fit so perfectly with what I had been hearing in my head when reading the the books prior.
+rekked If you listen to the audio books for 3-7, which are narrated by the author, Law's voice is much more similar. Although, I am pleasantly surprised. It's been too long since I've seen Patrick Warburton irl.
John Wayne Brady i'm not talking about the audiobook, i'm talking about how most people hear it in their heads. he uses pretty bold words and has a vast vocabulary.idk jude never sounded that right to me.
I love this teaser because, while we don't get a ton of overt details, there are a crapload of cameos foreshadowing what's going to be freatured in the first couple seasons. Here are the easter eggs I noticed (though I'm sure I missed a bunch): - The big building with the rounded roof may be the eye-shaped optometry office from Book 4. - The car next to this building has an insignia designating it as a "Lake Lachrymose Taxi". - A box on the set is labeled "Very Flammable Dandelions"; yet another VFD reference. - At 0:33, a clapboard can be seen with a reference to "The Littlest Elf", the film-within-a-film from the movie adaptation (I believe it was also briefly referenced in the books). - And of course, "Lemony Snicket" gives us an over-specialized definition of a word. Let me know any you spotted that I missed.
Well judging by set images he looks great and added bonus when people saw him on set in a classic Olaf disguise there was genuine questions towards if it was him so it will make sense that people won't recognise him here
Same! I kinda imagined most of the characters with soft voices, and some of them with a kind of soft to the brink of it being a creepy kind of soft voice. Like the girl who owned that cat Mr. Whiskers from Frankenweenie.
I agree. As I commented earlier, Patrick is the same generic type of guy in voice and personality in just about everything he's ever been in. Almost no emotion or humor is coming from him in this, at least as far as I see.
I do think the movie was in a no win situation. A series of Unfortunate events is very episodic in its format, something that doesn't lend itself well at all to a movie format which is why it ultimately failed.
While that is very true, I kind of wonder if they did it on purpose, though I mostly think that because the actor playing him is Patrick Warburton who is pretty well known in the voice acting industry so to his fans it's pretty obvious XD
I prefer him as American considering that is what he is characterized after, the author himself. Plus I am happy netflix is shitting on the tired tradition of having every story narrated by some British guy. It's ok to shake things up sometimes.
With the story being about a family with a French-like last name, Baudelaire, I always imagined them all as British. Despite Snicket being based off of Handler, that really doesn't mean he has to be American. I can write a character based off myself that is meant to be Italian instead of Canadian. Handler never gave his characters nationality and I'd imagine that was intentional. Personally, I think the movies nailed it with Jude Law's casting. That said, I'm still pumped as for this series's take on the story!
Anyone remember that trailer made by a fan for Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events movie. The fan made one looked really nice! It's somewhere on RUclips.
0:40 The classic Lemony definition! I absolutely loved it when he did that in the books. When he did it with words that I didn't know, he would explain the meaning beautifully and make it very easy to understand; and when he did it with words I already knew, he would give such an interesting perspective on the meaning and context of the word that it would really make you think.
Patrick Warburton PORTRAYING Lemony Snicket, the whole point being we don't know what LS really looks like so there's an actor playing him that we all know. Or rather, that's what I'm interpreting...
***** Actually, this kind of goes against that point. Lemony Snicket isn't the name of a real person; the author is David Handler, and of course everyone knows what he looks like. But Lemony Snicket is completely shrouded in mystery. We don't know who he is or what he's like. He's just here to warn us about the unfortunate tales to come, and tell us when we wouldn't listen. From what this trailer gives off, Lemony Snicket is...Patrick Warburton. I actually had to pause the video and ask myself "Is...Is that Patrick Warburton?" partway through. I really hope the series isn't like this trailer.
well....I got chills. I am so beyond ready for this!! Ever since the movie came out i've been hoping this would get redone. These books were so great!!!
only complaint I have about Lemony Snicket.... (especially since I know who the real LS is) ... throughout the entire series and even in the horridly crammed movie... he is always unseen, always a narrative voice we hear shrouded in shadow and intrigue. Then they give us kronk... who I have no problem with... but blatantly showing his face... thats... that's not what someone hiding from the VFD would do. It's completely out of character for the persona of this author. And if they ARE going to show him... he needs to be wearing a trench coat and fedora... the way he always does in the author's pictures in all the books. Sorry Netflix, but you got your character wrong.
Tom Gibson but the only thing not open to interpretation is the pictures he used of "himself" in the unauthorized autobiography and in the author pictures at the end of each book. He is a character that lives within the world that he writes about, and that character was always shrouded in secrecy.
I'm thinking that Patrick Warburton (who plays LS) isn't the "real" Lemony Snicket, even on the show. Kind of like how Daniel Handler used to always say he was there representing Lemony Snicket in interviews. I dunno if that makes sense and I'm probably wrong but it would be cool.
They'll find a way to work him in appropriately, even if they do show his face. It's not like this teaser is canon, anyway. The character in the series may not be aware of the audience.
Yeah, that's what they're doing :-) I think that will be the right amount of time and episodes for each book. Although, I can see the following seasons having an extra episode for the later books.
Looks very promising really, Glad to see this being done after so many years since being a kid who actually liked the books and the movie. :) nearly 12 years and still hyped for something like this
Daniel Handler isn't an actor. Writing great novels and convincingly conveying a character with all the nuances expected in good acting are two entirely different things.
Sure, he doesn't quite look like the svelte mousy wiry man in a suit you always imagine Lemony Snicket to be, full of charisma and mystery. But if I'd have made seventeen books, I'd probably want to represent them in person.
Yeah, I can respect that. But it'd be kind of neat if they had some reference to Handler as Lemony Snicket and promoted the Lemony Snicket as some sort of dummy Snicket that was put forward simply because of the real Lemony Snicket's duplicity and tendency to hide or run due to his fear of being captured or killed by the enemy.
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR MY ENTIRE LIFE. BEFORE THIS BOOK SERIES WAS EVEN THOUGHT OF, I WAS WAITING FOR IT. BEFORE I WAS EVEN BORN, I WAS WAITING FOR IT. OH MY GOD. THIS IS GOING TO BE SO DREADFULLY DELIGHTFUL. I WILL NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER BE MORE EXCITED FOR ANYTHING ELSE IN MY LIFE. GUYS. OH MY GOD.
I. Swear. To. God. If they mess this up, I WILL LOSE WHATEVER FAITH I HAD LEFT IN HUMANITY! I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that they mention the triplets. If they don't, then so help me!
Calm down everyone. The first season is taking place within Books One through Four. The Quagmire Triplets don't show up until Book Five. And, even then, they have already cast the triplets for next season.
Kenny Cook Ah, ok. That's good to hear. I just felt pretty upset at the thought that they wouldn't. I mean, Hollywood does have a tendency to mess things up, y'know?
I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!! I read all 13 books. They are FANTASTIC! If Netflix does it justice and makes thirteen seasons with 13 chapters per season....it will be epic! The books have SO much material to pull from. Any way they do it, I'm just excited to see the fantastic world of the Bouldalaire children brought to life by Netflix!
Deucey Dee I just want to veer through her vivacious curves, leer at her with lascivious looks, ship each other together, make her body soar/sore. Nothing more nothing less.
I LOVE THIS! Series of Unfortunate Events is the BEST! I'm already reading the series a second time! I'm so glad that everyone still loves this series as much as I do!!!
I hope this is actually more depressing and dark then an actual kids movie; although a kids series may be praised, a more depressing and dark tale will be binge worthy.
Jim Carrey was a good Olaf for his silly side/crazy side but lacked on the evil "I will marry a young girl and kill children for their fortune" side. I feel like Neil Patrick Harris will do good in portraying both Olaf's crazy and effed up evil side.
I hated him as Olaf. Even as a kid and when I hadn't read the books, I never saw him as a villain and thought he was annoying. I hope NPH can strike more of a balance in the comedic/evil parts of his character
it's not really him. (obviously).it's just someone pretending to be him and who has signed wavers and understands that at any moment he can be struck by any number of poisonous darts or be accosted by wild alligators that are delivered in a large package that he has to sign for personally
Fortunately that won't happen since the vast majority of people working with a modicum of intelligence know that it is tongue in cheek and that the point is to watch it to see just why it's so dismal that even the show creators would, playfully, suggest otherwise. You have to have a sense of humor to get it.
You must be new to the internet if you are willing to give that much benefit of the doubt. Ever read the comments under an Onion article or video. People miss the point all the time - so my comment was well warranted. There was literally a man on the Netflix facebok page arguing for hours about why this was bad marketing. In all seriousness.
Zinthaniel ppl missing the point all the time doesn't mean missing the point is well warranted. I wasn't attacking you, I was bringing your attention to it
+Zinthaniel Well it was a joke because I've read every book in the series and each of them has Snicket say to stop reading, hence the new generation=reverse psychology failed by Netflix @.@
this trailer doesn't look that great, I mean, it looks sort of funny but it doesn't look like it kept the dark tone of the books. the movie did a better job with that; it was very darkly humorous. I thought the movie did a very good job of capturing the tone of the books and I hope this show can do the same, but somehow I'm having doubts.
This teaser is equivalent to the author's note in the books, where Lemony Snicket urges you not to read/watch because it's too upsetting. That, along with the great details, such as VFD and the movie clip thing (can't remember what they are called) make me absolutely certain that this will capture the exact tone of the books.
yeah, I get that, but can you honestly say this is equivalent to the tone of the books?? this seems more humorous than darkly humorous and to cast a well-known comedic actor just adds to that. I'm still doubtful.
i'd say since lemony snicket isn't really the main character, it should be fine. On the other hand, how old were you when reading the book? I know they seemed darkly humorous, but looking back I feel that they may have been funnier than I remember... I do hope the show will stay as close to the books though, but I understand that everyone perceived the books a bit different.
I still have all the books lol. the last time I read them all was like 3 months ago. they really aren't that funny. in fact they're a lot darker and grosser than some might remember.
I remember getting this news like 2 years ago and I am still as excited as I was when I was a 8th grader now. Maybe even more because now I know what kind of quality Netflix can provide.
I love the idea of having the entire cast and crew leave due to low morale, and Snicket suggesting that you don't watch. Very clever and on point with the series. But that's not how I had pictured Lemony Snicket at all. He's too confident. In my head, he was always a little panicked and desperate, begging the reader to turn back before it was too late. He also sounded more upset and angsty, because of course, everything is terrible. I still have high hopes for the show, but this trailer was a bit of a disappointment for me.
Netflix is absolutely killing mainstream TV.
I've had more intense feelings binge watching than with normal viewing schedules.
then simply dont binge watch
Netflix started with sens8 and Daredevil. Now they are just showing off. I love it!!
Totally agree that's the same feeling I got
Yeah. Jude law did a great job at portraying Snicket. I'd love to see him back in the role
Yeah! Jude Law wasn't what I was expecting originally as Snicket but looking back he seemed much more genuine and emotional.
Idk. In the book it was weird but it felt like he genuinely cared/was saddened by the stories. If this guy puts more emotion into it. I think I'll like it. I loved the series so much
I was getting more of a Twilight Zone vibe from this guy rather than a gameshow host...
I love how they made this trailer. It's in line with the book - integrating fiction and reality, making it look like the cast actually went through difficulty to tell the 'true' tale of the baudelaire orphans
Jesus Christ Netflix you guys need to calm it down with all these amazing series's
BoltMan stranger things, Daredevil, Narcos Netflix you da best
ikr there getting better
So many tv shows so little time to watch it all.
nice copy paste
The like count tho 666
IF YALL BEEN WAITIG SINCE 5TH FUCKING GRADE LETS FUXKING GOOO ITS LIT
MrShedder13 YESS! I read the whole series in 5th grade. Loved it
Same
These were my favorite books in elementary school
Holy shit. That was like a decade ago. Fuck.
FUCKING YES
Just hope they film the complete Baudelaire story before the actors get too old :)
Agent Sambora they will
Agent Sambora as long as they don't rush it either
Still can't quite believe we are getting this! Hope they do it in the same order as the books also and not shift around as they did in the film.
Season 2 is already being written as season 1 finished filming a few weeks ago
+Gorzoid They changed a few things and skipped the ending of books 2 and 3 though, so filming books 1-3 is gonna take way longer than 2 hours
Books SHOULD be adapted to TV more than movies. There are a few exceptions like Lord of the Rings (and Harry Potter despite straying from source material sometimes), but you just can't fit loads of pages into a 2 and a half hour movie every time and expect it to work.

sgtfrozty yup. Exactly. Even lord of the rings had like 3 hour movies and Harry Potter had like 8 movies. Book to tv is the way to go
Yeah. And maybe they'll be able to get the seasons out more quickly than the movies were able to be released. Even if the 2004 movie had been really well received the children would've looked too old by the time the later movies came out.

Was that Olaf in the background?!
Yasssss
KhaosN7 yes!
That'd be my guess.
YES, NPH's voice is unmistakable!
Either that or Doctor Horrible came up with a new laugh.
Neil Patrick Harris is gonna be count Olaf I'm so excited
seriously?!
You didn't know? Haha! Yes, he is!!
Oh god no
If he starts singing in the first episode, i'm done -_-
He'll be good. It's healthy for an actor to do a variety of roles.
I hope they do it like Season 1= Book 1. Instead of the way the movie crammed the first 3 books into one.
The first 4 will be season 1. 8 episodes.
TEC1 well now I'm worried
Lol why. 2 hours per book sounds enough to me. Better than the 2 hours for 3 books we got with the movie.
I didn't know it was 2 hours per book, faith restored
They're doing 2 episodes per book (the first season will adapt the 4 first books)
this makes me so happy! they should do a golden compass show or movie as well!
BBC are adapting His Dark Materials.
awesome
show... definitely show. His Dark Materials deserves a little bit more than a movie can provide.
THANK YOU MENTIONING THAT!!
srsly?! they're making a dark materials TV series?! i didn't know that!
omg. "which here means" quote! the lemony snicket-ism i adore
RIGHT!? I DIED! All it needs next are some translation from Sunny and I wouldnt be able to contain my excitement. ♡
Yeah! I also squealed because I enjoy the 'All the Wrong Questions' series too. :)
when I was in 6th grade back in 2006 i wrote to the author because I stayed every night when I was in fifth grade even in the day with the books glued to my face I was unhappy with the ending so I read it again in 6 the grade and decided to write to the author my teachers assistant helped me get his information his emailing address and he still used to his identity and acted as if I was in grave danger writing to him lool this was my childhood so I'll be watching

I don't think I finished the series I must of made it to book 10. The big light blue book.
Easter eggs I've noticed on second viewing:

And the submarine! Oh, and the "count olaf" chair..
PULL THE LEVER KRONK!

Why do we even have that lever?

I am really looking forward to this!
pokeemblem yes! We've been making videos about. Everyday it gets closer and closer
I love your videos so much and am looking forward to the next one now that this has been released!
Thanks! We make them for you, and don't let anyone tell you different.
ArmchairMedia Thank you!
Yes! Finally!!
I just love that they got Patrick Warburton of all people to do the voice of Snicket. That is not where near any voice I would every image for him.
Yet, somehow he pulls it off.
I'm definitely excited about his portrayal of Lemony Snicket, but I still can't help being just a tad disappointed that Jude Law didn't reprise his role, back when the movie came out his voice just fit so perfectly with what I had been hearing in my head when reading the the books prior.
Same, Jude Law's voice just fit what i imagined. Ii got shivers when he started narrating in A Grand Budapest Hotel as well.
Bunny Commando I always imagine Lemony younger
I must admit, telling me not to watch it really makes me want to watch it
Mitus Gladius That's the joke.
I know lol. So I tip my hat to them
In the books, the writer did the same thing. At the start of every book he would say do not read this book for it is not a happy tale.
they got that from the book.
Hi you must be new to the series
You know how I can tell that's an actor and not the real Lemony? He showed his face
Really? The voice didn't give it away?
That too
It's Patrick warburton in case you were wondering :)
I know. I hope he does the part well.Otherwise I will be very disappointed.
Also, Lemony is a character and a Pen-name.
Oh Lemony Snicket/Joe Swanson/Brock Samson/The Tick/Kronk/Patrick Warburton, you ALWAYS have my upvote!
its not an upvote bro its a "like"
Oh! Is this reddit?
***** what's reddit?

wow, dead sea salty up in this bitch
Patrick Warburton is okay here, but let's face it, we all miss Jude Law...

I'd also like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that the rest of the audio books were narrated by Tim fucking Curry.
John Wayne Brady ^^^^^^
**Heads to Barnes & Noble to buy & read all 13 books again**
While everyone else was on Harry Potter & Twilight, I was on this!
WTF are you talking about? Harry Potter got BETTER towards the end.
Those two franchises aren't remotely in the same league as each other.
I was on all plus some, lol
I love this teaser because, while we don't get a ton of overt details, there are a crapload of cameos foreshadowing what's going to be freatured in the first couple seasons. Here are the easter eggs I noticed (though I'm sure I missed a bunch):
- The big building with the rounded roof may be the eye-shaped optometry office from Book 4.
Let me know any you spotted that I missed.
...Okay, I need to get Netflix. Also lots of time to catch up on other shows i've missed out on. But mostly time for this.
yep, time to get netflix
Glad to hear I'm not the only one who thinks like that... I thought everyone else already has Netflix :P
everyone has a netflix now. I'm sure one of your friends will let you use there account
The directors name on the slate for "The littlest Elf" is Monty Kensicle, it's an anagram for Lemony Snicket.
isnt monty kensicle there uncle morty?
No, he's Montgomery Montgomery.
Anagrams are all over the 13 books.
So many anagrams, VFD for the win!
Welp, TIME TO RE-READ ALL THE BOOKS.
already reread the them all this year to prepair

Really can't imagine Neil Patrick Harris as Count Olaf.
Go and take a look at the photos of him in Olaf makeup. I felt the same way until I saw those photos.
KhaosN7 He does look the part, the question will be can he act the part.
The guy in the trailer going "joy joy happiness" is Neil as Olaf take that as an example of his performance
Mr Critical Count Olaf is very much a visual character, it would be silly to judge him by three words.
Well judging by set images he looks great and added bonus when people saw him on set in a classic Olaf disguise there was genuine questions towards if it was him so it will make sense that people won't recognise him here
Never saw Patrick Warburton as Lemony Snicket. I don't know how I feel about this.
Same. I'm trying to withhold judgement until I actually see the show, though. I really, really hope this series does the books justice. XD
Advent3546 his voice is too deep for me. I imagined Lemony and all the nice characters (except captain Widdershins) with soft voices
I expected a light voiced Brit or something of that nature?
Ok can we all just take a moment to appreciate the fact that they are releasing this on Friday the 13th? 😂
I WAITED SO LONG FOR THIS OH MY GOD I CANT EVEN

só eu achei meio mals eles já terem mostrado o rosto do Lemony?
Eu tô de boas. Acredito que assim seja mais fácil pra quem não leu os livros entender depois quem ele é.
Still pretty fucking pissed we're living in the timeline where the 2005 movie didn't get a sequel...
Grigore Alegrispa this comment is confusing, double negative
How could they do a sequel they started and ended with one movie.
Grigore Alegrispa can you retype your statement? It's very confusing ...
Honestly, I think this is the better timeline. Each book will get its own episode or two!
True that i was very fond of that movie
If this actually includes all of the books, unlike the film did, this is going to be absolutely fantastic!
The movie couldn't fit all the books, but it did just fine with fitting in the first 3.
I do think the movie was in a no win situation. A series of Unfortunate events is very episodic in its format, something that doesn't lend itself well at all to a movie format which is why it ultimately failed.
There is going to be a season 2.
STARLORD39 There will be a season 3. They’re in the middle of filming it right now.
Foehammer it does.
BUT YOU'RE NEVER MEANT TO SEE LEMONY SNICKET'S FACE!!
ahhhh true...good point
maybe this guy is just a puppet and says his name is Lemony Snicket for appearances.
While that is very true, I kind of wonder if they did it on purpose, though I mostly think that because the actor playing him is Patrick Warburton who is pretty well known in the voice acting industry so to his fans it's pretty obvious XD
That was strange
I feel as if Netflix has a mad mind fuck up their sleeves
I have been waiting. For 10. Years.
it's not too late to see a story about a happy little elf.
So THAT's where Patrick Warburton's been. I hope this show does well.
0:26 on the crate it says Very Flammable Dandelions: VFD!!!!!
Arnav Ranade yeah they put hints like that all over the place in the ads and in the series.
A Series of Unfortunate Events: the only series that tells you, "pick up something else."
I really liked Jude Law as lemony Snickett way better. Or at least have another British actor play him.
Emmuelle Berger Lemony Snicket isn't British, he's American
rekked I liked him when he British though
I prefer him as American considering that is what he is characterized after, the author himself. Plus I am happy netflix is shitting on the tired tradition of having every story narrated by some British guy. It's ok to shake things up sometimes.
Daniel Handler, the author himself, played Snicket in audio material and he didn't have a British accent.
Neil Patrick F'n Harris, I'm pretty exited... Part of my childhood is riding on this, do it justice Netflix!
Is that Patrick Warburton as lemony Snicket?
Yep =)
Thanks! I know he's gonna do a damn good job.
Absolutely! He worked hard on this project, he definitely did great!
I really hope the series isn't like this trailer.
very flammable dandelions :)
Michael Baker ik
Village of Fowl Devotees ( ͡° ͜ ʖ ͡ ° )
Ciara C Very Funny Dictator
Voracious, Fuzzy Dogs
Vitriolic Flamenco Dancers
I wish the Pendragon series by D.J. MacHale could become a TV series. I adore those books.
Right! Those book were the shit!
It started out great, but it became too drawn out and the ending kinda sucked bad
"Joy, Joy and happiness, just finished Luke Cage my binge days are no moreee"
*Netflix*
Bitch, You thought.
duded B Luke Cage was pretty amazing tho.
a telltale game of this franchise would kick ass
Jorge Organista Best idea yet.
Jorge Organista yesss
Suspence My man I love the movie too but it does not compare for the 13 books in the series, thats how i got into reading tbh
That would be AWESOME!
READ THE BOOKS AND PREPARE TO BE SHOOK
(And get some tissues)
netflix is killing the game
RubberDuckStudios I never knew they were going to make a Netflix of this
Been a Netflix member since 2003..$ well spent! You guys are killing it now.
I love how this monologue is basically how Lemony Snicket started all of his books.
Quote me: This will blow up like Stranger Things and Luke Cage
Robert Veley Easiest prediction you could ever make; the source material is dope af.
They have to stay true to the source material to make it legit or itll end up like the movie
+Robert Veley, did Luke cage really blow up?? is it getting more viewers than daredevil?
It will be good but it doesn't that much buzz surrounding it as the two you mentioned.
That is because you know nothing Jon Snow. lol!
NO WONDER LEMONY SNICKET SOUNDED LIKE KRONK
Because Warburton is the voice of Kronk
Childhood memories flooding back! I remember being read these stories at after school daycare in elementary school
It was always a mistake to do a film for this series, Netflix have made a smarter decision here. Things are looking up... Ironically that is.
so...13 episodes?
Maxime Teppe I dunno.
I hope they space it out. They have 13 books to work with.
No Netflix made a mistake,
They have to cry and sob there way through the books now
The first episode is called the bad beginning Part 1 So I imagine it' gonna be more than 13 episodes
I love that Patrick Warburton isn't doing his normal super-deep voice that he does in everything.
well....I got chills. I am so beyond ready for this!! Ever since the movie came out i've been hoping this would get redone. These books were so great!!!
interested to see Neil Patrick Harris as count Olaf LOL this is gona be dope.
محمد مهنا naww... uh im good
there are some pictures of NPH as Olaf floating around the internet.
That actor will forever in my mind be Joe from family guy, and Crunk from the emperors new groove.
what about puddy? from Seinfeld!?
and brock
guess I'm the only fan of rules of engagement
This is the only source of RUclips ads that I actually enjoy watching. Props to the ad and acting team
Neil Patrick Harris and Patrick Warburton? HELL YEAH!
my favorite book series of all time. this is awesome
only complaint I have about Lemony Snicket....
VFD (volunteer fire department), is a noble organization of which Lemony Snicket is actually a part of.
LandofCupcakes7 that was before the schism!
As long as you include,
The Bad Beginning (Obviously)
The reptile Room
Vile Village
Austere Academy
The end
I'm happy.... :)
The series is doing all the books. Season 1 will have books 1-4.
+CureMewPeach seems like it'll be 8 episodes, 2 for each book, we'll see how they'll pull that off.
Yeah, that's what they're doing :-) I think that will be the right amount of time and episodes for each book. Although, I can see the following seasons having an extra episode for the later books.
Looks very promising really, Glad to see this being done after so many years since being a kid who actually liked the books and the movie. :) nearly 12 years and still hyped for something like this
They've started writing season 2, it will cover books 5-9
IVE BEEN WAITING SINCE THIRD GRADE AND NOW THAT IM A LIBRARIAN ALL THE CHILDREN ARE GOING TO BE EXCITED
OMG FINALLY A LEGIT TRAILER. MY HEART IS POUNDING SO FAST. THIS IS MY CHILDHOOD!! I THINK I NEED TO REREAD THE WHOLE SERIES BEFORE THIS SHOW STARTS!!!
Netflix > Cable
ya cable died a while ago
Netflix shows are awesome
Yes! Way cheaper and way better!!
Why not get the ACTUAL Lemony Snicket to do it?
Daniel Handler isn't an actor. Writing great novels and convincingly conveying a character with all the nuances expected in good acting are two entirely different things.
Sure, he doesn't quite look like the svelte mousy wiry man in a suit you always imagine Lemony Snicket to be, full of charisma and mystery. But if I'd have made seventeen books, I'd probably want to represent them in person.
Charlie Chitty Daniel Handler isn't an actor though. That's why it's no him on the screen.
Because the REAL Lemony Snicket can't show his face, of course. It's too dangerous. ;)
nailing it, the fourth wall break through narration and the serious atmosphere interjected with comedic lines and moments
Relax lol. They are going for at least two seasons of 8 episodes and 3-4 books each. Whatever happens, I have faith that it will be a good show.
ajmrowland Yeah... Same here, I suppose. I just really loved the series when I was young, so I really don't want them to screw this up, you know?
Victoria Carson lol THEY BETTER INCLUDE THE QUAGMIRE'S OR I SWARE ON MY MOM'S LIFE I WILL GO ON A KILLING SPREE!
The hype when this first came out was unreal, I still remember it
If this works out, this series will be more "in" then aqueous martinis and magenta wallpaper combined.
Not to mention triangular picture frames.
and pinstripes?
...and garbage cans with the alphabet stencilled on it.
Dragonite905 yass!
Dragonite905 or pin-striped suits
Patrick makes a good Lemony Snicket. Though I really liked the one from the 2004 movie.
There were 13 of them?
ya, did you not read them all?
They're actually going to devote 2 episodes per book. The first season will contain 8 episodes, and cover the first 4 books.
JediMaster118 that's a horrible idea. there's so much great material in each book.
***** Yeah...I guess. Good points. Meh, Fuck it, I trust Netflix so I'm still pumped!
They've turned Lemony Snicket's mysterious and heartfelt character into a showy TV host kinda guy 🤔🙃
Patrice Andamo Probably just for the teaser, but in any case he still seems heartfelt.
Is that the Vile Village or Miserable Mill set he's standing in?
Jimmy Jones i think so!
I'm guessing Miserable Mill since they're not in filming season two yet! I think the writing just started
Jimmy Jones To me, it looked like port Damocles.
yea it does!
it's Damocles Dock
JÁ É A MELHOR SÉRIE DA NETFLIX, ACEITEM!!!!!!
MEU CORPO ESTÁ PREPARADO NETFLIX! PODE VIM :3

My love for you shall live forever.
You, however, did not.
omg , no sir !!! I will not look away , one of my favorite stories of all time is back !!!!! I'm so excited!!!!!!
GAAAAH I'M SO EXCITED! THESE BOOKS WERE MY CHILDHOOD
let me guide you to adulthood.
coughrapistalertcough
I'm but a man who guides people through pleasurable paths.
That still sounds inappropriate.
Deucey Dee I just want to veer through her vivacious curves, leer at her with lascivious looks, ship each other together, make her body soar/sore. Nothing more nothing less.
OMG Joe can walk its a miracle!!!!!!
Patrick Warburton, Neil Patrick Harris, good humor, harpoon gun reference...I have high hopes for this
GOD DAMN, FINALLY. I absolutely worship the book series, they shaped my childhood so much.
am I the only one who wants Jim Carrey to come back as Count Olaf?
Jim Carrey was a good Olaf for his silly side/crazy side but lacked on the evil "I will marry a young girl and kill children for their fortune" side.
I feel like Neil Patrick Harris will do good in portraying both Olaf's crazy and effed up evil side.
I hated him as Olaf. Even as a kid and when I hadn't read the books, I never saw him as a villain and thought he was annoying. I hope NPH can strike more of a balance in the comedic/evil parts of his character
I agree
I'm not a big fan of Carry but yes. Besides, I was 11 when the movie came out.
I would like carry but Neal Patrick Harris got casted.
Wait, Lemony Snicket does not like to show himself in public :/ it loses the mystery to his character.
It's not the real Lemony (Lemony is a character and a Pen-name anyway) This is Patrick Warburton playing as Lemony.
I know! but it loses the character of LS if he shows himself. LS adds the mystery to it. He also doesn't look sincere...like in the books :c
He's lost weight, he looks fantastic.
I thought that, too!
it's not really him. (obviously).it's just someone pretending to be him and who has signed wavers and understands that at any moment he can be struck by any number of poisonous darts or be accosted by wild alligators that are delivered in a large package that he has to sign for personally
I have never been this excited about a show, and it comes out on my birthday!
KRONK!
Or that one character from the bee movie that was basically 3D kronk
+Jason Stevens he's David Puddy
+AlbeitBeast llama darts
The TICK!!!
JOE SWANSON!
Netflix: Why did no one watch the series? Us: "Lemon Snickets" told us not to!!! Netflix: *Facepalm
Fortunately that won't happen since the vast majority of people working with a modicum of intelligence know that it is tongue in cheek and that the point is to watch it to see just why it's so dismal that even the show creators would, playfully, suggest otherwise. You have to have a sense of humor to get it.
and the OC is joking too, so you not realizing that and calling him out for not realizing the joke is a bit ironic.
also OC it's Lemony Snicket
This is gonna be LEGEND....wait for it... DARY!!!
With all due Respect,
No. I'm totally watching this.
Lol I still can't believe I managed to read the whole series (13 books!)
That movie was one of my favorites when I was younger. I've heard rumors of this show for years. I'm soooooo excited!!!!!
That's a very fine denotation on the crate.
this trailer doesn't look that great, I mean, it looks sort of funny but it doesn't look like it kept the dark tone of the books. the movie did a better job with that; it was very darkly humorous. I thought the movie did a very good job of capturing the tone of the books and I hope this show can do the same, but somehow I'm having doubts.
it's not the trailer, just a teaser. this could be completely different than how the show will be like.
They should release the first trailer in 9 days, the 10 year anniversary of The End.
