Wow, now that is a Scorpions killer track for sure, I saw this live and the power and intensity of that heavy riff was mind blowing. They were way more than just hits and billion view ballads. I was scrolling around looking for a reaction to watch, and lo and behold one of my favorite reaction channels (that's you Asia and BJ) have a reaction to this obscure but awesome Scorpions song! You made my day. However, the song didn't play all the way to the end -- it cut off the laugh at the end. I have a history with this song....
It was the summer of 1980, I had just graduated high school and was going to start college in the fall. I had recently fell in love with kick-ass rock and roll. I lived on a farm in upstate (Cortland County) New York and I was driving a tractor with a cab and a stereo, with headphones. I was tuned into one of the Syracuse stations that used to play hard rock, (94 Rock or 95X). The DJ announced this song by saying that it was (name of band -- I didn't catch the name of the band, I hadn't heard of the Scorpions yet)'s with the title track of their latest album. The announcement was before the song played, so I didn't know if I was going to like it or not, and it was after a commercial break, so I wasn't paying full attention to what the DJ was saying. Then this song played, and I was blown away by it and it's heavy, dark, trance-like quality. I didn't catch the name of the band or the song, but I figured I'd hear it again since it was new and the DJ had made such a big deal announcing it and that it was the title track to some band's latest album. To this day, that was the only time I ever heard this song on the radio. A year later, I was at a concert in Binghamton, NY watching Rush who was touring their "Moving Pictures" album. In between the warm-up band and Rush, while the stage hands were setting up the stage for Rush, this song played and I heard it for the second time in my life. I knew it was the same song by the sinister laugh at the end of the song. I then went on a sort of quest to find it. All I remembered was that it was a slow-burn song, it was the title track of an album from 1980. I even bought a couple of albums on a guess, but ended up being wrong. Then my roommate bought the Scorpions "Blackout" album (from 1982) and the last song on it was "When the Smoke is Going Down," Which is a heavy, power ballad (Nobody does power ballads better than the Scorpions, you ought to react to that song also). While flipping through the S section in the record store, I saw that there was a 1980 Scorpions album and the last song was the title track. So I bought it and the first thing I did was to put the needle of the turntable on the last song, and that was it! It was 1983, so it took me three years to eventually find this song, but I did at last. You two are right, this song is like a trance vibe. The lyrics are kind of throw-away lyrics, it's the sound of the song, and the pulsating guitar and bass, with the heavy, slow drum kicks that drive it, with the instrumentals way in the foreground, partially drowning out the vocals that help to give it that trance-like quality. Then the sinister laugh at the end (which was cut off on your video) to cap it off. This album was the last album before vocalist Klaus Meine had surgery to fix his vocal nodules, so his voice was much raspier than in later albums.
I'm not 100% sure why I read that, but that's an awesome story, and I'm glad I did. I'll keep this short but I'm the early 80s something similar happened to me with the song Back On The Road Again. Turns out it was actually a band I was very familiar with, but the bass player sang the lead Vocals on it. It's REO Speedwagon a great song if you aren't familiar with it

I am so jealous you are getting to see them! Been about 15 years for my last of at least a dozen times, what a great band, both in studio or live! You just can't go wrong with anything to do with the Schenker Brothers. Rudolf is guitarist and a founding member of the Scorpions and one of the heaviest, primarily rhythm players ever. His younger brother Michael started with the Scorpions in 1970 on their first album, then joined UFO for a spectacular run of albums from 1974 to 1979. He then left to form another great band in MSG (The Michael Schenker Group) Any of these groups is worth a hard look at and trip into amazing rock reactions like you just had. These people were gods to us in the 70s and 80s, I envy you as you discover their forever music. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
Michael's my favorite guitarist. Met him on the Walk on Water tour and got some great pics of him live. He's a really nice guy in person. Seen him many times in UFO back in the 70's.
@@markwilliams6394 Seen him 4 times with UFO and once in MSG, that dude is just a step behind Jimmy Page for best hard rock guitar. Amazing ability for the most melodic and aggressive leads, just a great player.
Seen Jimmy with the Firm in Austin (first album), he's great but I prefer Schenker, he just fits my guitar playing style more. But I get your love for Page. You can't go wrong with either one.

This album and Lovedrive are my two favorite Scorpions albums. Both of these albums should be listened to from beginning to end...every song. So happy that you are doing this reaction...♥♥♥ I got to see them Live in 1983. Right, the words in the title are not included in the song, but there are references relatable to magnetism, in the words; "I want ya, that's all I do." Asia...if you come home and BJ is playing this song....expect that a little somethin' somethin' is on his mind. It put me in the mood every time. 😉
One of my favorite Scorpions song, Animal Magnetism. I used to get lit a drive on an open road to this song and it was mind blowing.
You mentioned puts you in a trance , one of their early albums is called In Trance . Great work on that as usual from guitarist Ulrich Roth

Ditto on the comment below. I saw these guys in 1983 and it was the best over all concert I ever saw, and I saw my share of shows. Awesome stage show, and the greatest performers ever. the song just before this one on this album "The Zoo" is by far their best and most popular song, although my album favorite on this album is Falling in Love. You gotta try them both.
You are right about the similarity in sound between Knight Rider music ( that was my favorite music as a little kid in the early-mid 1980s)at the beginning of the show and Animal Magnetism!

Oh the things We did while this song played in the background in the early 80's. LOL. Awesome song and they have many others. so glad I discovered them back then and been a fan ever since, check out China white, when the smoke is going down, Sails of Chorion and yellow raven.

I grew up listening to Scorpions and saw two live shows in Phoenix, Az, I have a recommendation for you 2, (Scorpions "Under the same sun,") it's an awesome powerful song.
Rudolf Shenker owned a place in Phoenix for a long while......The band wrote a song called "Arizona" that was all about the women they scored with in this state :-)

The 1980 album 'Animal magnetizm' was the Scorpions' first platinum record in the US... the album cover was suggestive - the girl looking up, the dog, the guy w/ his hand in his back pocket... 😍
The Scorpions are one of the best live bands out there... Matthias Jabs (lead guitar) is such an underrated talent - just amazing 🤘🤘🔥🔥
Klaus Meine (lead vocals) and Rudolf Schenker (guitar) are 74 yrs of age, but they still have energy 🤘🤘-the band's founders.
Mikkey Dee (drums) joined in 2016... he was the drummer in Motorhead (and King Diamond before that)... Pawel Maciwoda (bass) joined in 2004 (2 classic members, drummer Herman Rarebell and bassist Francis Buccholz left the band in the 90's)
I won't give away much, but some highlights will be the chugging guitars and Matthias Jabs' guitar solo on 'The Zoo'... the 3-guitar instrumental 'Coast to coast'... the memorable 'Wind of change'... Some new songs from their latest album 'Rock believer'... Have fun! 😁

Another great album from the scorps. It's a shame you guys are seeing them while in there 60's and 70's instead of there prime. One thing for sure they will bring down the house. Enjoy the show guys you deserve it.

IMO, this is the Pinnacle of the Mighty Scorpions! The entire album is Thundering Metal, The very best from them! Most definitely Stings like a Scorpion.....
Summer strut 82 and 83 Anaheim stadium loverboy opens the show with foreigner, scorpion's iron maiden closes it.....peace✌️

The song is about sexual attraction, hence, "animal magnetism." He sings like he's moaning with pleasure. Then at the end, it's a long moaning to a pleasure laugh. You guys cut off the laugh part.
Three music is repeating to give you a sensational heart pulsing. Cleverly done. masterful. None like the Scorpions. Live in concert freaking awesome. They really get the crowd involved.
