“To Hell with the Devil” and “Soldiers Under Command” are really good songs by Stryper. I remember first seeing them on the Wally George Show from Orange County. Wally! Wally! Wally! Who remembers watching that on tv?
I went to their 40 year anniversary concert in November at the FL Theater. Really great seasoned talent. No mistakes. Their lead guitar player Oz Fox was still in revovery after having two tumors removed from his brain, and had to sit the entire show. The next concert they did, he was on his feet again.
Ironically Stryper is a Həll of a Band! They're amazing! Those vocals!! instrumentation!! Monsters of Rock!! Please react more to them!! Their power ballad Honestly should be your next one ❤
I saw them twice live in '85 and '87. Stryper were/are a tight band. They sounded as good live as this studio version, even their group harmony vocals. I still go to live shows 40 years later and would love to see them a 3rd time. Love you guys' reaction! Glad you liked it. Nice to hear a woman say she loves a guitar solo---warms my heart! ;)
Still rocking in 2024! Just saw Stryper in November. Two hour show covering all the hits. Sounded incredible! Check out "Transgressor" from the Final Battle album
They were my favorite of all the 80s hair bands. M. Sweet's voice was (still is) amazing!!! The drummer, (brother, Robert Sweet) is one of the biggest influences that inspired me to be a drummer.
Stryper has been the biggest Christian hard rock/metal band for the like last 40 years! When they began "experts" and other bands in the biz used to make fun of them. They thought like no way a Christian band could rock! Well Stryper didn't care and their fan base just kept growing and proved their critics wrong. They did eventually got respect from others in the biz.
@@paulstevenson5295 You are right, I just assumed it was calling on you because it’s a better song in my opinion. I had the CD and never played their song “Honestly” to slow and boring.
I was born in the 70s grew up in the 80s partied in the 90s. Also I am a preachers kid and he limited the music I listened to. So Stryper was a huge part of my childhood and I got to see them on the In God We Trust tour in Tulsa Oklahoma it was awesome and Michael Sweet is an amazing vocalist and musician as well.
Stryper is the real deal Christian metal. They still at it 40 years later. This is one of my favorite songs from them. I loved it because I could sing that end part in my natural baritone in full voice on the lower harmony. That is very rare in rock music of any kind. You should try one of their REAL rockers from that same album like "More than a Man" or "The Way". Michael Sweet is one the best lead vocalists of all time. And he did the guitar solos on this song as well. Very very talented band. Michael's brother is the drummer btw. The vocals at the end of this song are The Bassist, and both guitarists. And I am pretty sure the "ghost" keyboardist pitches in as well. He is an official "unofficial" member of the band that is not seen. He is the guy that led the Sweet brothers to the Lord way back in the early 80s. People accused them of faking being Christians back in the day as a gimmick. Michael was once quoted as saying". If you are looking to make money as a Christian metal band, that is just a bad strategy." lol
I really wished it would of happened, but back in the day, Stryper and the guys from Slayer were going to do a Heaven and Hell tour. Not sure why it never happened, thinking possible management or label issues.
@ it shouldn’t but it does , there’s those who believe in Jesus Christ and those who don’t, and that can detour their judgement of music, me I believe in Jesus Christ and I love Strypers music.
You're not wrong on the standing out part. The ones that stood out, are the ones that continued on--the copycats/trendies disappeared after album #2 assuming they got that far. For that era, you had to have the great lead vocalist, a great lead guitarist, and a signature style to stand out. And, you had to have an ability to make at least one killer "power ballad" per album to really seal the deal. Arguably, the power ballad became a crutch for the copycats and record execs too in terms of marketing and promotion and signing bands. By the end of the era it became almost self-parodying. Stryper was probably one of the earliest "Christian" metal bands out there and they had the musical chops to be respected.
Dc talk is another Christian band that's a mixture of rap rock and soul. They redid the video for Jesus is just alright. The video is fun if you want to jam with it.

Get out!!! I never thought I would see Stryper on a reaction video!! I was a big fan back in the day. I love this!!
And lead vocalist, Michael Sweet, has gotten so much better over the years.

@John-r3p4q True sometimes it goes too fast when writing...can i also blame it on English not beeing my native language? 😉🫣
“Calling On You” was stryper’s biggest hit. It has a great intro, and the song is solid throughout.
I always thought "Honestly" was their biggest hit
@@paulstevenson5295 Calling on You got them on MTV. Honestly is their chart topper.

Their best song Caling on you went to #1 on MTV over others such as Motley Crue, Poison etc...
Great song. Awesome vocals. 💯🔥
Well, you both have reacted to Stryper before when you did their song Do unto others.
You gotta do "Soldiers Under Command", "Makes Me Wanna Sing", "Calling On You"and the "Sing Along Song". You'll be amazed!
Just saw Stryper in El paso TX a week ago! they are insane! it was an amazing show!
Christian heavy metal. This was the loudest concert i've ever been to and i've been to a lot
I have not heard this song for decade. Good reaction
You should react to their new music When we was kings. It was released in September.
40 years later and better than ever
Do Stryper To Hell With The Devil next for a master class in 80's vocals...
Totally!!! That track is a classic.
🔥🔥🙌🙌
Boy, that song brings back some memories. My wife and I were dating when that song came out. 37 years later........I feel so old....
Stryper shreads 🤟

thank you for the song
Great Christian rock band, loved them!
Hi will it be awhile before y'all react too Ferlin Husky ( Wings of a Dove )? It's an old live black and white video version from the Grand Ole Oprey.
Love this band. Hope you do other songs by them. If you decide to do so, may I suggest To Hell With The Devil or Soldiers Under Command.
My fave song is " the way "❤
Christian hard rock is a genre that has been there for 50 years and has gone undetected.
Stryper sounds better now than in the 80s, give there new 2024 album a listen "When We Were Kings" I've been listening to them since 83
I really wished it would of happened, but back in the day, Stryper and the guys from Slayer were going to do a Heaven and Hell tour. Not sure why it never happened, thinking possible management or label issues.
Most people might not like them because they’re a Christian rock band.
I love it 💯.
That shouldn't matter, Stryper is one of the best Power Metal bands ever.
@ it shouldn’t but it does , there’s those who believe in Jesus Christ and those who don’t, and that can detour their judgement of music, me I believe in Jesus Christ and I love Strypers music.
I just saw them on the 40th anniversary tour here in Denver. Two hour show. Videos on my channel.
GO DO A REVIEW ON THE MUSIC VIDEO!
AN MTV staple back in the day....
