I've been daydreaming of camping at this stunning location, Menindee Lakes.
Sitting on the edge of the great deserts of central Australia, there is an oasis of lakes. Surrounded by the famous red dirt of outback Australia, this is truly a a magical place.
I set up camp right along the water front and spend a couple of days relaxing and enjoying some of the most beautiful sunsets over the water.

yeah, I do love a road trip. Never done one solo though. Menindee is a special place. I've been there twice now and will go back again!

Well done! Great camp spot, nice beach, awesome sunsets, fire, good food ... perfect. After you tossed in the fishing trap and lit the fire on the beach I thought, Damn... Frank's confident he's going to catch something to cook. Hope he isn't disappointed and hungry. Ha! The steak looked awesome. Cheers!

Hi, TJ, yeah, that was a great camping spot...a lake with a beach in the middle of nowhere! I can see why the the early european explorers used it as a base camp.

Such a pretty location. Camping near water is always relaxing. I assume there are no fish in Menindee Lakes. The lack of a fishing pole in your hands makes me think this. Then again, the Outback is probably not the first place you’d go if you wanted to fish. Looking forward to next weeks adventure!
Hi, Suzanne, Menindee is one of my favourite places, such a beautiful spot in the middle of nowhere. There are plenty of fish in the lakes, so the locals told me...not that I could catch any! lots of yabbies too apparently. maybe offshore would be better, the shore would get over fished. I caught some yabbies but not enough for a feed. The carp are getting in there, like everywhere else, which is a shame.
I'll be in the Flinders Ranges next week!

hard camping with a pet sometimes but Digger would of had a ball, take care 👍🏿 😊
Thanks, Louis, Yeah, Digger would have loved those wide open spaces, sand to dig in and water to play in. Dog's are allowed there but not in the other places I went to.

Russia looks like an amazing country. I have always wanted to the Trans-Siberian Express...maybe one day! but I couldn't take Digger with me, he would have to spend weeks in quarantine in each country we passed through...I couldn't do that to him

I love that you travel with an inflatable couch(!) Why compromise on comfort ... 😅 I haven't been to this part of the country, it's certainly beautiful.
Lol, some may think it's a bit much for camping but I like it...packs ups small and is very comfortable. Lake Menindee is a beautiful place. The tree's sticking out the water make for nice photography and the relief of cooling water in the middle of the outback is a refreshing.
