Diva Makeup727 Thank you! I missed that they recommend that temperature. It confused me because I thought you would want it as cool as possible to help the fragrance throw. I wonder why they want it heated past the melting point? I think I’m overthinking it. :)
@@itsAngiAKAlovejunkie Most people say you heat it higher to "open" the wax up and allow it to cool which helps the fragrance oil bind as it's cooling once the wax has been opened...it's a lot lol I was confused too
i started using joy wax from the get-go and have loved it ever since I will say that when using it you def have to find the perfect wick because with a wooden wick i tried it did not like it compared to my usual hemp wick..

I also only did one wick instead of 2 like I did before which I believe is the reason why my jar heated up and burst on my first attempt because I've since learned that the circumference of my jar is not really big enough to require a double wick. Hi Jeff! I like using NG Joy wax occasionally. My favorite is still 6006. But I looked for the link to the ice cream scoop that you have but didn’t see it? Where did you get it from? Thanks so much! 😇
Did you have luck with the CD wicks in the joy wax? I didn't have luck, but, am considering switching to wood wicks. Will try HTP & zinc as well. Also, I have a laser thermometer & am wondering if I should switch to one like yours.
Kelcy, I hope you did change. I, too, was using a laser thermometer and it was a disaster for me personally. One day I couldn't find it and switched to a meat thermometer. The difference in the performance of the wax during heating, adding fragrance, and pouring was significant. And yes, I was stirring the wax just before taking my temps. I'll never use laser thermometers again.

Also I’ve only used The Flaming Candle Scents and I know I should venture out with more FO companies. All of this testing is getting pretty expensive lol. Pleas help!!
Ive used the IGI6006 wax as well and it does give a decent scent throw but it is prone to shrink a lot, You will get sink holes near the wick and separation from the glass. I've had separation that showed up several days after pouring the candle.
It gets very expensive. I still love 6006 the most but joywax is a very close second right now. I still have some more testing to do with joywax, like wicks and more oils. But it's really nice. Both joywax and 6006 are much nicer than 464 in my opinion.
I've made three batches of candles using this wax and each batch got sink holes near the wick. Any suggestions? I followed the manufactures recommend pour time and used the hemp wicks from nature's garden as well. Thanks!
Oh man I probably did mine way wrong First time candler pourer here (today)🙋♀️🤷♀️ Made -drumroll- one 4oz candle with the joy wax and it seemed really easy I’ve heard some candle making horror stories. However I believe I screwed it up because my melting point for me was only 120F and my fragrance flash point was 134F… so I brought it up to 140F and then cooled to 130 and added fragrance. Stored for few minutes and then immediately poured into a tin. I did not warm the tin. I did not bring it to 200F🙆🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ I don’t even know how long to let Joywax cure for 🤷♀️ I’m terrible at directions I’m like whatever I’ll just do it my way… and then we know how that turns out 🤣 do you HAVE to bring it up to 200F?
It's the bomb.com. it comes in a granulated form. Heat till melted immediately add color And FO 2OZ per POUND stir 2 minutes POUR IMMEDIATELY! they make awesome clamshells! Ng recommends this wax specifically for this
New subscriber here. I am thinking of making my own candles and possibly taking it into a candle business. Can you tell me what makes up the Joywax. Thank you
I love joy wax I've been using it for almost a year with my candle making business. However any recommendations on what to do so the jars won't get so dark while the candle is burning from the paraffin wax in it?
Hello, Lori and friends. Lori and I are in a similar situation. I am also trying to get the best HT with Joy Wax. I am using a 13oz jar with a diameter of 3" and so far have used a CD -12 wick, and an ECO-8 wick. I have been using a 10% FO which is about 1.6oz per 1 pound of wax (a little over what the manufacture recommends). In terms of my results, I have little to no HT when using the CD-12 wicks. The Flame on the candle when lit is very strong and produces a lot of soot, mushrooms, and large black smoke which is not good. I have also used the ECO-8 wicks which happen to work well. The wick was well lit and the melt pool was great, but the HT was very weak I couldn't smell anything. Should I be using a different wick or should change the amount of fragrance I should use?? If you or anyone has any suggestions on how Lori and I should proceed and trouble shoot this please let us know. I have spent so much money on supplies and have not produced promising results, which is very discouraging. Please let us know what you guys think. Thanks in advance, your advice is highly appreciated.
Hi, I am also not getting any CT nor HT with the CD's and HTP lines. I am going to try a hemp & a wood wick next. I also got zero throw with clamshells. I've tried a strong, tangy red currant, vanilla, lilac & a Christmas scent (at a 10% FL) so far & the only one that had any throw was the lilac but, it was weak. So disappointed😫.
I absolutely love this thx Jeff. Can we get a video on tips and tricks on hot to be successful at using 464 wax. Everyone says it’s hard to master (I see why) but no one says what to look for how to improve scent throw or signs to look for etc
I’m having a heck of a time getting a good Cold and Hot throw from this wax. Followed directions to a T and also played around a bit but have yet to find anything that works. Does anyone have any suggestions? I’m new to candle making and chose this wax for its ease of use and smooth tops. But i’m getting very discouraged. The candles themselves look amazing but i basically finish with a wax paperweight. A lot of times you wouldn’t even know there is a candle burning in the room unless its in a small room with the windows closed. I ordered some wood wicks to see if maybe the wicks im using are not sufficient, although i am using wicks that are recommended for joy wax. Would greatly appreciate any suggestions yall may have.
I’m having the same issues, I have increased my FO to 10% but doesn’t seem to be making much of a difference. I too followed the directions to a T and now am trying different things to see if it will help. I hope someone can help with this!
I love nature's garden, haven't used their joy wax yet, but I use their soy and palm and since I'm primarily a bath and body company the fact that I can have interchangeable fragrance oils for all the things makes my brain happy

Hey Jeff! I’m in your group on fb... thanks for posting this because I’ve been asking a lot about joywax and figured I’d give it a second try! Quick question... how long did you cure your joywax before testing for HT?
Thanks Jeff, I’m going to be trying this now. You’re the second person to give it really good reviews that I’ve watched. Also did you ever try the clam shell melts in your melter? If so how was the hot throw? Thanks again for sharing!
To slow the cooling process down, how soon can I put the lids onto my jars.....I'm getting a lot of sink holes, not entirely sure what I'm doing wrong? Advice?
You're doing everything right, sinkholes just happen to be part of the process and happen more with certain waxes. These are caused by wax shrinking as it cools. It hardens on the outer edges first then dips and shrinks in the areas where it is still cooling, the middle. You can reduce them by pouring cooler and you will also need a heat gun to fix them. :)
Jeff... i cant wait to see the follow up to this!!! PLEASE ;)

Thanks!
Maybe pour tem0
Thank you Jeff for replying
How do you market this candle wax? ie what do you put on the labels?
Hi Jeff Standley what size wick did you use for the Lavana vessel?
I tried the 105 and 126 with ok luck
Oh man I probably did mine way wrong
First time candler pourer here (today)🙋♀️🤷♀️
Made -drumroll- one 4oz candle with the joy wax and it seemed really easy I’ve heard some candle making horror stories.
Please test pillar of bliss wax from nature's garden. I would love to see your take on it.
Kasey Bailey That’s another one that I’ve gotten a lot of requests for.
Really wanna see if its worth it to buy pillar also
It's the bomb.com. it comes in a granulated form. Heat till melted immediately add color And FO 2OZ per POUND stir 2 minutes POUR IMMEDIATELY! they make awesome clamshells! Ng recommends this wax specifically for this
So worth it..imo... sorry Jeff hope I didn't overstep.. just know that i use it and love it
The green containers what size wick did you use
👍 Thank you Jeff!
New subscriber here. I am thinking of making my own candles and possibly taking it into a candle business. Can you tell me what makes up the Joywax. Thank you
Really happy with this wax! I love it!
Have you tried cool method on this for scent throw?
What wood wicks did you use?
Where did the whole joywax explode come from?
Did the dye change the HT?
I love joy wax very easy to work with IMO. they recommend using Crisco can you do a video testing with different additives
That would be a great vide, I will get one together.
Can you do joy wax with wooden wicks
I love joy wax I've been using it for almost a year with my candle making business. However any recommendations on what to do so the jars won't get so dark while the candle is burning from the paraffin wax in it?
I have the same issue. Could be the wick size. I will order a smaller wick to see if thst helps
Try to wick down. For this reason I’m thinking about switching waxes
Trying to get the best HT from joywax. I’m using 12oz jar, CD10 wicks, 1oz FO. What do you recommended?
I'm in the same boat and im getting discouraged.
I used HTP 41 in a 4 oz amber jar and HTP 73 in 9oz amber both joy wax burned very well and good CT and HT.
can anyone explain how he wicked the 2 jars that he didn't put wicks in before pouring?
I absolutely love this thx Jeff. Can we get a video on tips and tricks on hot to be successful at using 464 wax. Everyone says it’s hard to master (I see why) but no one says what to look for how to improve scent throw or signs to look for etc
Id say the biggest issue is cure time. You MUST allow it to cure 2 weeks.. or longer if you can.
How was the hot throw once you burned them?
Kathleen Schmitz It was good. I’m still testing more to see if I can get it stronger.
@@joannm5680 what wax are you using. I switch from soy to coconut and it has definitely made a difference.
@@matthewmichaelmoschella9548 Thank you, I will definitely give coconut wax a try. I appreciate you answering! Have a great weekend!
@@joannm5680 glad i could help. Have a great one!
Also why did u let cool then heat back up? Just asking.
Ann Hamer I wanted to see the full range of the wax, full melt to gel, and also how quickly it gels up.
I love nature's garden, haven't used their joy wax yet, but I use their soy and palm and since I'm primarily a bath and body company the fact that I can have interchangeable fragrance oils for all the things makes my brain happy
Anna Lumsden I’m loving all of their products. I have a bunch of like I’m still testing and some nice dye blocks and liquid dyes.
This wax is really nice to work with. I can’t wait to test it more.
I loved the wax too.
Hey Jeff! I’m in your group on fb... thanks for posting this because I’ve been asking a lot about joywax and figured I’d give it a second try! Quick question... how long did you cure your joywax before testing for HT?
I cure for 2 to 3 days depending on the Fragrance
Ng suggests 3 days. Some don't allow any cure time.
Do you use the same fragrances that I use in soaps? Thank you.
You can, but not all.
Thanks Jeff, I’m going to be trying this now. You’re the second person to give it really good reviews that I’ve watched. Also did you ever try the clam shell melts in your melter? If so how was the hot throw? Thanks again for sharing!
They work just like the shots awesome scent throw
Thanks Keri for the feedback.
Hi Jeff is 10% the max you can use with Joy??
From what they say, it seems that 8-9% is the max.
How do you test a wick on a candle thats already poured? 🤔
Where do you order your containers
To slow the cooling process down, how soon can I put the lids onto my jars.....I'm getting a lot of sink holes, not entirely sure what I'm doing wrong? Advice?
You're doing everything right, sinkholes just happen to be part of the process and happen more with certain waxes.
These are caused by wax shrinking as it cools. It hardens on the outer edges first then dips and shrinks in the areas where it is still cooling, the middle. You can reduce them by pouring cooler and you will also need a heat gun to fix them. :)
Is this wax better than 464!?
I love this wax!
Tessie which wicks have you found to work best?
