I was using soy wax for a long time however, I didn't find they offer great HT, tried a paraffin blend ended up loving that.. waiting for my order of 4627 to arrive.. hoping I will love it.
Try a few candles with 3-10% stearic acid added. You will find it much easier to wick. Only downside is the wax wont be translucent anymore. Also a 44 zinc wick works great in that wax. It mushrooms just like all the others, but the scent throw is a bit better, and because it has a zinc core I think its safer since the wick wont fall to the side.
Great idea using the pen casing to push the wicks to the bottom of the vessel. I have some tall but slender jam jars which I was thinking I could only use wood wicks with. Thanks for the tip!
Excellent video and thank you for taking the time to share and save us newer candle makers so much time with trying to figure out without wasting so much in supplies. this is Janet M.
Thanks Jeff' I'm using this wax for years off & on. It has fantastic HT no matter what FO is used.... But bc my customers are soy & coconut lovers. I don't use it as much. Great video boss😃😁
How do customers even know what wax they like. Before making candles I never thought anything about the wax a candle had. I’m just curious cause I’m thinking of trying only paraffin.
@@Md-pp8sk I didn't know anything about wax myself as a customer or candle maker.... when I started. Each time I purchased I tried different waxes. Soy wax was best for jar candles. Don't know if you'll get this Jeff but in a previous video of this product you added FO at a lower level of temperature and poured lower. Did you notice a big difference in the candles?
Hi Jeff, thanks for video. What does the .85 represent in your calculation as I want to convert to metric. And because this paraffin is so soft, to harden a little can I mix with soy and if so what ratio would you recommend? Thanks
Hi Stan, thanks for your time. I was wondering if you ever did more testing on these? I wanted to know before i purchased my 4627 and wick. I will be purchasing the vessels from 1617
Hi Jeff. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I have a question. Have you used 4733 wax before? I am getting back into candle making and I bought this wax to begin with. I’m having a problem. I don’t know if it’s the wax or the fragrance oil. I’m using Candle Science Very Vanilla. I’ve found that after the candle is finished, some fragrance oil is left under the wax. I added 10% oil. Now I have made candles using 8%. Don’t know the results yet. Do you have any insight?
I have the exact same size vessel but I’m using 6006 and I can’t find the perfect wick I notice the dipping with most wicks. I’m considering switching wax because I love this size vessel. What wick would you recommend for this container but with 6006?
IGI 6006 is notoriously difficult to wick, especially in smaller vessels. A wick that seems to small after you light it can often be to big once it gets to the middle of the vessel. It’s a great wax but it requires a lot more testing to get right.
Hi love your channel I want to make my mom a candle for mothers day am using 8oz jelly jars and using soy wax, my question is how much wax and fragrance I use just for one candle my dad will be helping me with it thank you so much for your time

Still a little confused about the temperatures to work with with this wax. I am looking at your older video and comparing the two. Should I use temps in this video?
The older video was using the low temp method and the higher temps are much easier to get nice blending with. Manufacturers suggested temps are around 180-170 for heating and adding oils.
@@inklabdesigns I love the low temp method but I usually stick to pouring hot for efficiency. I can pour and keep moving on to more candles. Pouring cooler with 6006 can help with glass adhesion and sinkholes but I would rather pour hot, keep moving and deal with sink holes after.
Have you encountered a problem with soot? In my testing stage with IGI 6006 I was testing so many candles that my walls are covered in black soot. In fact even once I found the perfect wick and burn too many candles I would have soot building up over walls and cabinets am I the only one?

Hello Jeff - I have a question concerning the 4627 Wax. You did a video a couple of years ago in which you cooled the wax to 130 degrees, then added the fragrance oil. You said it was to prevent the fragrance from burning off. In this video (same wax) you say to add the oil around 180 or so. Has the wax changed? Why 130 then and 180 now? Thank you.
