    By far my favourite for helicopter msfs flight

    Lovely review and very informative. I have to agree the liftoff and touchdown feels very linear and spontaneous, as if the aircraft has very little weight/slippery skids. This is further amplified by winds and of course feels even more erratic when interacting with buildings with photogrammetry. I've found that by increasing the load on the helicopter and decreasing winds gave me a slightly more natural feeling to that ease into hover/onto the ground that I've found with other notable sim helicopters, however it still feels like it needs some fundamental changes. Otherwise the Cabri is very nice to fly, especially with different weather conditions.

      It helps to not use any pedal before lift-off. Then it looks perfect but could teach You bad habits 😄

    24:59 Well, CABRI stands for "Comfortable Autorotations By Rotor Inertia", apperently having more energy storage in the rotor then R22s never designed for flight training was a specific design goal.. What I find odd, is that re-gaining rotor RPM in non-straight in approaches by angling against the relative wind does not work very well at all.

    • @thenerdyhelisimmer4608
      @thenerdyhelisimmer4608  2 года назад

      Inertia certainly is comfortable...very hard for me to glide very far though. It drops like a stone.

    I highly prefer the cabri over the bell. It's so much more fun to fly. Smooth, fast, and very responsive.

    Very cool video. I totally enjoy your educational video content. Seeing you enjoying MSFS, I might suggest you try the HPG H145 (+action pack), it's one of my favourite helis across all platforms! It's got its own flight model, and it's super enjoyable with all of its SAS and autopilot modes on AND off! 😀

    Hey mate, what are your machine specs? I'm always following your videos on X-Plane, and now I'm looking to buy a new computer, because mine is weak (currently, a MB Pro 16" i7 with a 4gb Radeon video card), and I plan to buy a VR headset maybe next year. I'm researching a lot about the specs necessary for VR, and I think I'll have to buy a machine with an NVidia RTX 3080 to do it. What do you think about that?
    Thank you!
    And keep up with your great videos! Awesome content!

      Thank You👌, I don't use VR so can't help You there. I'm running a 2018 i7, 16 RAM with a GTX1060 Nvidia card. A rig that by now clearly shows its age...
      Since Flight simulators can be resource-hungry beasts I'd recommend going for the best system that You can afford. It'll be outdated soon enough 😉. I never had problems with NVIDIA but I had some problems with an AMD gpu once. If money isn't a problem get two of the latest NVIDIA flagship 😄. Greetz

      @@thenerdyhelisimmer4608 yeah, I think it's set: I'll buy something like an intel i7 12th generation with an nvidia RTX 3080... Now I just need to research the best place to buy it... it might take a few months hahaha... Meanwhile, I'll keep using my MB Pro... I'm still getting around 25-30 fps using the Cowansim 206L3, I think that from my paid helicopters, it's the one that is more GPU demanding, so far...

    A small question for you. I want to start using vatsim but I never yet ju p into it. I already have my account and I already connect to vatsim as an observer. What location would you recommend for a first flight in an helicopter and what kind of flight? A simple traffic pattern?
    Thanks and once again, thanks for your great videos.

    • @thenerdyhelisimmer4608
      @thenerdyhelisimmer4608  2 года назад +1

      Hi Sébastien. Yes, a simple traffic pattern if You're already familiar with how to fly one. I started out flying just the departure. So taxi out, Take-off and leave the CTR. After that I disconnected. After getting more confident I tried all the other stuff. If You wanna do landings first take off from an uncontrolled airfield and then fly to a towered airport. Aren't You the Lama Fan from Switzerland? 😉 Anyway swiss vatsim-atc is a very good place to start. I recommend Bern or Grenchen. They open every once in a while and have usually very little traffic. For first flights choose a quiet airport with a simple layout. Hope that helps. See You on Vatsim 👍

      Thanks a lot for your message. Yes, I love the Lama, but I have only the XP11 version. Maybe once it will be available on MSFS.
      I will definitely try Vatsim from a Swiss airport, and thanks for your advice to try Bern or Grenchen. I think also to try first with a Cessna 152. With an helicopter, it is still difficult to wait at holding point in a hover and manage radios and take notes at the same time. I will try step by step. Anyway, will meet maybe once on vatsim. Thanks for your great videos, always very interesting. Take care and have safe heli flights.

      @@thenerdyhelisimmer4608 in the US, the FAA is considered as tax-funded so most of their "products" are public domain/public services. It makes no sense to me why this would not be the case in the EU. They are already making money, yes? Maybe I am just a stupid American but if the point is "to make money", then I might as well grab a cheeseburger, a lawn chair and a couple of my guns and go sit in my front yard and hold up drivers for a 'toll'. But that's not how things work, is it? I thought you guys invented the whole idea of "the king does not do as he pleases," and we merely copied it.

    • @thenerdyhelisimmer4608
      @thenerdyhelisimmer4608  2 года назад

      @@KaiTakApproach Hmm...that may very well be exactly how things work 😄. AIP docs and charts of major airports are now available for free via the EASA I believe. However visual approach charts and VFR Charts still need to be purchased seperately (in Germany). American VFR Charts weren't always for free were they? From a practical point of view I think the FAA charts are much easier to read than the german ones. The latter relying to much on roads and too little on geographic features. In general aviation is an even more expensive hobby in Europe than it is in the US. Cheers
