- So while from a stability point of view this was a terrible idea, from a concept point of view this is awesome. My one hope is that the game does not fall over or glitch to death before I can land the abominations on another planet.

Technical spoiler warning - there's an issue with this multimodule base setup - Spaced out maps run on a single grid, and the amount of rockets you can have is limited, to max 16, iirc. With these rockets you are almost out of options.
Could anyone seeing this post give it (not necessarily my reply) a thumbs up to make it more visible for Francis John to notice?
@@ShadowWolfTJC Oh don't you worry. As you should know: due to the YT bot crisis, Francis handles validating every comment himself.
@@peanut211 I believe he doesn't do it anymore. I've been able to edit my comment. And comments withheld to review cannot be edited, because they're not published.
@@MarcCastellsBallesta Your hypothesis is interesting. The info will be tried and may be passed on. Thank you.
if im understanding this correctly these should almost always be on the ground there for not on the starmap to function + it can easily be fixed with mods
Francis’ next plan: colonize the temporal tear
steel rocket wall melting time.
"So we use the extreme heat generated by sending even a few particles through the tear to melt insulation..."
I'm really enjoying the mad scientist direction this series is going, but I have to admit.... I'm a little concerned by just how far you can go Francis. What's next? Taking control of the teleporting dupes and coordinating dupeleportations between colonies?
Sourgas boiler ...using plastic from glossy dreckos!!!
Someone tell Klei! This could be a neat upgrade: Passenger modules.
Isnt that a recreation item already? I never used it.. but you could take someone I to space for recreation
@@tobycat5799 in base game not spaced out
Having another tech, for larger modules would allow doing that... so there is room to fit more dupes in one module. The main reason to not just always use the larger would be the extra material cost... could even make it higher cost than the size increase suggests. Like, 50% bigger, but 75% more material needed. Thus, the current module would still be preferable for most use... but larger crews (where two rockets would be sent) might be done with one.
Could even create compact beds that can stack, so they take up less space, and maybe make them climbable (can be used like ladders). The trade off would be that they are lower moral than the luxury bed... maybe make them on par with the cot, but plastic and a tech past luxury beds.
@@hermanphilips4617 the stacking beds already exist in the base game
@@hermanphilips4617 bunk beds already exist
FJ is so OP he accidentally makes an interplanetary portal. I can't deliberately make a stable cooling loop.
FJ, I really appreciate the late, late game you are playing through. Thanks for continuing the series and for creating fun limitations to make it more interesting/fun for yourself.
This has got to be closing in on one of your longest ONI runs. I love how elaborate your play sessions have become over the 3 years I've been watching you, not that they were overly simplistic to begin with.
Ok so anyone feel bad for the duplicate around 14:30 mark sitting stuck in space while slowly running out of food and oxygen…
While the big boss sits watching gas melt just next door
Yep I did, but it was very funny the way that poor fella was just to the left of the screen for all this time
Yeah I was actually panicking a bit like "Oh no oh no please notice the poor guy!!" then the next time he wasnt there anymore so I guess he did notice xd
Got a pee suit notification or maybe it was a starving one and deconstructed a tile for them to get out, it's the kind of thing that happens every so often with multi planet colonies :)
So he's basically made a trailer park lol
Looks like we're starting to learn what caused the temporal tear...
"I don't really care for hybrid electrolyzers, infinite gas storage, or anything exploity like that" - 2021 Francis John
"Whats the difference between science, and MAD science?
PRESENTATION!"
Seeing a snapshot of that dupe falling out of the disassembled cabin actually caught me off guard. Ridiculously funny.
I can only wait and see the crazy colonies based on that cabin glitch, it is pretty cool to see that it technically still works, even with a weird interaction or two.
Now we only need an "expanded" rocket colony, take a cabin, does not matter what type, pipe liquid uranium through the walls untill they melt, then just add water untill its cold enough again.
Then you have a giant space inside, enough for small sour gas boilers, petroleum boilers or even nuclear reactors.
If you have too many dupes in there when you disassemble, the game simply dies. It's the only crash I've ever had, about 20 dupes spilled out of a module for half a second then I got the bugsplat
I love the double module trick even with its major problems and I would choose the gassy moo planet for these rockets. Also, your payload openers at methane smelters need some fixing. Payload openers create some heat and they will eventually melt (the one in Irony is at 1000 degrees).
You should just melt the steel walls inside the Spacefarer modules; you get lots of space without all the weird pipe issues. Liquid uranium as coolant in a metal refinery is fantastic for doing the melting.
That is another way of breaking it, but that feels more "cheaty" than building two if that makes sense? Just the way my brain figures it.
@@FrancisJohnYTWell that comment aged like fine wine
My vote is to debug teleport them home due to the bug that brought them there. As they shouldn't have been there in the first place.
Next ONI playthrough has to be a nomadic one. You can build a base normally until you unlock rockets and then once you do everyone has to live in one.
Additional rules:
1. You can't leave any dupes behind, if you go to another planet, everyone comes.
2. You can build things outside the rockets if you can fully automate them but if it requires significant dupe operation (e.g. rock crusher) it has to be in a rocket. Would love to see you get metal refineries in rockets too.
I'm imagining a fleet of ships flying from planet to planet stripping it of all natural resources, taking the resources with them and only stopping to resupply at specialised bases. For Knuckles and the munchkins!
> I'm imagining a fleet of ships flying from planet to planet stripping it of all natural resources, taking the resources with them [...]
Wasn't that the plot of Independence Day? Their dupes looked less cute, though.
You can only have 16 crew cabins total, so this would severely limit how much you can expand
@@user-si5fm8ql3c Are there any mods to expand that limit? And that could be a good limitation to work around as well.
Anyone else notice Chris stuck in FJ's transformer trap? 14:09 wonder how long exactly he was imprisoned...
Until he had an accident in his suit and I got notified about it, woops :)
“Oh, there was a duplicant in there” - I almost fell out of my chair. Classic Francis.
I love how your dupes are now somehow moving between planets :D This series like your other ones is a lot of fun to watch, I really enjoyed that mini baby base you built.
AAAAND time! Episode 50 and Francis is breaking the game! The timer for the mug room is still ticking...
I hope that cup of tea is spiked after all those Shenanigans! 😀 my head hurts just trying to process what you did.
If you run a steel aquatuner with super coolant in a vacuum, you can actually get it to smelt, before it breaks down from overheating. Using the molten steel you can smelt the walls of your rocket interiors. I mean if you use glitches for more space, you also can just melt the walls down for more space :D
Yup, on cycle 1772 (between 30:00 to 31:00), you start explaining the module with 15 dupes on planet, then exit the module with 7. Most fun.
Yes, and the Forging In Progress updates from a 'crops' alert to a 'beds' alert in the very moment he switched from capsule to base view.
I see my Duplicant Trailer Park caught your attention...and your obsession...aaaand then got turned into a mechanics-exploiting monstrosity XD This was an utterly fascinating watch!
Yeah I saw the one you were building and the idea of cramming a fully portable one onto rockets just seems like a fun plan. Once I figured out you could launch two modules into space with this method I was locked into doing it.
Smells like save game corruption
I honestly think you need to build this base on the lava planet... I mean, what kind of evil genius DOESN'T put his rocket base on an active volcano planet with sharks with fricking laser beams on their fricking heads?
Extremely unusual use of game mechanics. I love it.
Now all it needs is a stamp of Aku on the engine. Because what could be more potently evil than those a delightful nuclear-fallout-spewing rocket?
I'm surprised you haven't done anything with the resin tree planet yet. Hopefully you've got something insane for that one lined up too
He did pretty outlandish things on the last playthrough.
5 Minutes in... and here I am, melting a hole in my rocket module.... nicely done Francis....
Ok that is sick... you had me with 2 modules on one rocket but with 3 rockets? now I'm hooked :D
At 28:57 you can see two radbolts going through a wall xD
FJ done broke it really good :)
how xd
That has "broken" a few times now, I think it has something to do with the location of the rad bolt on load or save. Once I reload it goes back to normal.
Multiple rocket living quarters? What a great idea! I know the devs were intentionally limiting your options on a rocket, so you have interesting choices to make, but this... THIS is cool! With the number of rockets and space exploration (along with a few more things to do/reasons to be in space), this could an awesome end-game idea. Next, we need space stations for our interplanetary fleets! There's so much the devs could do with this idea!
It is kinda funny how I am struggling a bit with my engineering class and horrible at my calculus 2 class but I understand what he is talking about more than my classes and I don't even have the game, ha ha.
Another exploit with the crew modules I figured out: Place down multiple rocket platforms, vertically, with 2 empty tiles in-between. Start at top, click new rocket and select crew module, build it and delete rocket platform under it. Select next platform down and build new rocket, select crew module and build it, delete rocket platform under it. Rinse and repeat. You can stack multiple crew modules this way and put a rocket engine on the bottom platform. Space rocket platform on the bottom from the one above for the rocket module height -2 (for platform deletion). I didn't do much testing (as I discovered in at about cycle 4k on a playthrough and, unlike Francis John, don't want to risk crashing 100 cycles later) with it other than electrical and electrical appears to need a battery for every crew module. Have fun.
Tried that as well, but you can't take off with that rocket. It will only take the last capsule you built with you, the rest of the modules get left behind.
I can reproduce the teleportation of dupes to a different planetoid bug. Here are the steps:
1. Build rocket
2. Pick a dupe that is outside the rocket
3. Give the dupe a manual move command to inside the spacefarer module
4. Wait until the dupe is inside the rocket, but is still navigating to the point inside the spacefarer module
5. Pause the game
6. Deconstruct the entire rocket by switching each module with a different one and then canceling the build. Save the spacefarer module for last.
This game wasn't heard enough, Francis John decided to mess with the Time Continuum to build a base that shouldn't even exist! Tune in next time to the Twilight Zone to see if the dupes will survive.
A co-worker was interested in ONI and I recommend this channel as a good place to learn. This episode makes me regret that. 😆 Jk, amazing.
You can save tiles on your electrolyser setup because you dont need to insulate anything if you're going to cool the gases in the same rocket. You might not need any seperation at all and filter out the hydrogen as if you've got a carbon remover at the top of your rocket capsule.
Dupes will go and change their suit if it's low on O2/durability. They don't have to path past a dock! You can setup a room with a single entry and a bunch of atmosuit docks and a checkpoint at the entrance. The dupes will get a task to go change their suit when needed and go to the atmosuit room.
toilets can also be placed on top of eachother by click and dragging really fast, my bathrooms are now super cramped.
Great Episode FJ, you are forgiven for the lateness of said episode, it was a doozy :)
Good Lord! That is insanity at its finest! Francis John, you, sir, are the Frankenstein of Oxygen Not Included! I stand in awe of these monstrous builds you come up with! Bravo, Sir!
I keep shaking my head is disbelief and saying to myself "This is madness". I fully expect to hear some diabolical cackles of glee before this episode is over.
Edit: And there it is! 18:35
Please, colonize all asteroids. You have to commit now. You started the colonization, you finish the colonization. What will happen to excess methane?
Oh so you are a gamer and you like to play games like fifa and cod?
Francis: You wouldn't get it.
What you really should be doing is melting the interior walls by using molten uranium in a metal refinery
you can do that??
didn't they make the walls melt proof?

Also these are hilarious. Imagine galaxy brain meme Francis slumped over multiple cups of tea and/or whiskey, it is indecernable which..
Suggestions for planet.. hmm... moo world... do it. All the moos
so glad to see fj popping on my RUclips.
The only thing keeping the rockets from breaking the space time continuum is the one with the tank holding 10 kg of water, because everything will be okay as long as there is enough water tanks.
Already looking forward to the next episode, I presume you are going to build a additional sour gas boiler inside a separate rocket fleet
please John accept the karma and dont use debug to teleport them back!! my favorite thing about this game is the accidents and surprises, and having to work them out.
Mess too much with the Space-Time Continuum, and the Space-Time Continuum will start messing with you...
i am frightened by your ability to make things that work SOMEHOW, what a base idea
Ahhh, like the early days of the expansion, breaking rockets left and right.
Now if only we could connect rockets in space... Self sustaining space-faring duplicants. This would be like a whole new game!
Make-shifting space stations... Just need to be able to target random sectors with the cargo throwers, and a rocket module that can catch the shells. Then, have a planet chucking food, oxygen, and water at a sector with the 'station' in it. That would actually make it possible to have the relay rockets manned... just because you can.
If they also made a chucker module (perhaps one module can both receive and chuck). Then it would be possible to have a 'science station' and throw the disks at a planet that can use them.
The mining rockets could also then be made into mining stations... they just sit in the cloud and throw resources they mine at a planet, while getting payloads to sustain themselves... it would probably be slower output (one big load here or there, or a chain of small shells that may be less resources per cycle), or more costly to prepare for use (opening and sorting shells, rather than just sorting the large load).
- Sudden horrified thought, imagining Francis doing a run where he puts a manned 'station' in every sector. -
It's Sunnyvale Trailer Park. Awesome.
Honestly. I WISH you could make colony rockets with more than one faring module.
As well as have doors between them.
Insane idea, cool as hell
An exploit is usually an unfair advantage that makes the game easier. Francis managed to use an exploit to make it harder. This is a glorious mess.
Damn now I want to make a huge watertank with freezing meshtiles to make ice and blow up a rocket module with the pressure explosion.
I see the title. I immediately think "what the f has Francis done now?"
I also noticed you didn't upload in a while so it was either computer crashed or you twisted ONI reality like Dr Strange.
Edit 1: If they fix what you've found, I hope they do it in a way you can regularly use it.
Ooh, dupe teleportation between planets. I wonder if that's exploitable.
Francis control the liquid valve, directly control the steam turbine so 2 tiles are wasted. you can carry the Reed Fiber there and make a Large Power Transformer like this :)
holding breath never effects strees/morale of dupes only low oxygen
Oh man I'm liking the ridiculousness of the bases, please don't hide them in rockets!
You master this game so much that klei should pay you :)
A well deserved cup of tea. Those duplicants practice magic every once in a while.
Brain totally fried... bit naughty with the glitch, but hell it was entertaining!
The ONI gods are unhappy with your spacefarer exploit.
PS: This is the most mindbending episode of ONI on RUclips.
This is hilarious but my brain hurts just watching it!
I feel that is should be entirely possible to get a completely self sustaining , single pod rocket. Like starvation ranch Shovels in-capsul. Completely fill a square with Morbs in a corner and some air vent tiles. So long as they can survive indefinitely without ANY input, the experiment is successful. At max ranching, they probably make more meat than they can eat, on average so maybe the opposite corner a dump for the waste to feed some pokeshells. Do you NEED a bedroom? Sore Back is -1 Athletics, but the dupe is living in a capsule who cares if they'er fast? If you're just pooping on the floor you don't need a restroom either if you have a bunch of food going off you probably have plenty of sand from feeding your Pokeshells, so run some filters? Maybe get them Starry Eyed Rad Eater, or something silly as a requirement, but yea, it's almost certainly dooable.
I've been wanting to build an industrial space faring module for some time but you beat me to it. Have you considered trying to fit a nuclear reactor or interplanetary launcher within one?
call the Rocket System M.A.S.H. Mobile Asteroid Settlement Hardware. and name the rockets Hawkeye, Trapper and Radar
Sir this is more than a minor abomination
What's going on with that tile on the bottom left at 28:56 ? Radbots are passing through it, and it's lighted up, as if there was nothing there. Is that a glitch that radbolts can do?
That keeps happening, not sure why. Fixes on reload.
My theory is that it's to do with the game saving or loading and the location of the radbolt.
@@FrancisJohnYT That was my guess as well. In debug mode you can do the same thing. You can overwrite a tile with a gas, and make it permeable. Since radbolts can create fallout on impact, my guess is that fallout spawned inside the tile, thus overwriting it.
Wow, this one makes my head hurt. Not sure if I completely understand it. I'd love to see some type of base on every planet. I'd also like to see the lava planet tamed.
you can just melt the steel wall of spacefarer module to get a nice 32*32 base in a single rocket
Can you please tame the Niobium volcano? Something over the top ridiculous that captures the entire output instead of having to use a mining laser every 5 seconds because it plugs itself up due to Niobium forming tiles at ludicrously small masses?
Somewhere out there is a Klei employee shitting his pants thinking what Francis might do next.
I like that you made it harder on yourself with the double module bug.
Congratulations Francis, you made ONI's first Prefabricated Base running on 1kg/sec of Methane.
FJ today: this boring bleach stone rocket? I don't care until 500 cycles... FJ in two episodes: well... You remember this bleach stone rocket?
I love the idea of a prefab modular base in Oni, I hope they never patch this out!
Crazy awesome setup!!!
‘you mess with the space time continuum things happen’
This calls for a "Aku Sculpting Block" mod
So at long last you have finally lost your mind. I love it
Episode was worth the wait 😂
You could fiddle with Windows or your mouse a bit, and generate a triple or quadruple click in a very short amount of time.
It's a joy watching how you break the game.
I LOVED Mini Base series. would be epic to watch u ay another mini base with different gysres no water gysres
28:55 did anyone notice that radbolt going through a tile on the left?
Oooh, minibase series! That's one of my favorite ones! I wonder if one can have a Spaced Out version with a bunch of miniplanets.
strange idea, I like it, I like it
*@Francis John*
5:10 Name suggestion: It is not a Space Station... it is a: *"Base Station"* ;D
Could you make a strategy guide for tackling early game in each of the starting asteroid ( Terrania, Folia or Quagmaris) ? They provide different resources at the beginning so early game looks different on each asteroid
Honestly I'm surprised you went with the double capsule route instead of just melting the capsule walls and building a mega capsule instead lol.
In theory the current build would work just fine with six normal rockets, (would need control stations in each one, can be removed on landing) by double stacking we just make it easier to move the lot.
Melting the walls is just a bit to far in my brain, I don't know why.
@@FrancisJohnYT tripped over this vid whille looking for a vid on the water production via dupes you did... perhaps you could save the too far stuff in your brain and use it for a tourure/exploit type series to acomplish a mega goal of some sort.
Francis John created a new version of the teleporter without shredding and then reprinting dupes on another planet.
A steam turbine inside a rocket. Of course.
Gotta be honest. Watched this one inebriated couldn't understand a thing that was going on!
