I think Francis's idea of "casual" is "I'm not gonna bother with optimal play and just do whatever tickles my fancy." Like cramming a nuclear reactor into a rocket isn't exactly optimal play. Just a small note about melting project on 25:50. To reduce the heat loss on ceramic insulated pipes you can install a bunch of liquid bridges since they do not transfer heat. This way you can reduce the heat loss up to 33%.

YESS!!! Melt the diamond :D Casual nuclear catastrophe rocket bending the laws of space time, i love it :) These v ideos always make me smile and laugh
You can turn your petroleum boiler on and off as much as you'd like, if you add a insulated tile one tile right and one tile down from the liquid vent. Since the fluid has to fall down a tile, is the connection back to the 'boiling chamber' broken and heat doesn't leak it's way down the counterflow.
Diamond will burn at about 900C in regular air (in real life), it is probably good that ONI does not have combustion mechanics (if it did who knows what Francis would get up to).
@@longtomjr22 Dude I was just saying that if ONI had fire mechanics (like say Minecraft) Francis would have gotten up to more crazy things than he does, not what would have happened in this video, but whatever.
For your rocket reactor, I would recommend doing some logic wiring to have it use the steam produced as the power storage and have the reactor only run when the steam is under a certain pressure/temperature.
The liquid duplicator I was tempted by but decided against as a step to far, once you start doing that its infinite food and O2 everywhere with no effort. I know their is not much challenge at our current level but it gives some purpose to our actions. I looked into the neutronium gun, that takes a lot of time, fun project but very very time consuming.

Two rockets... The solar one should be a "zero effort" rocket. Power is fully automated, bathrooms, everything. Maybe a mini pacu tank to feed one dupe on raw seafood. The nuclear one should be the busy one. A complete base. You'll have radiation for farming mutant seeds for food.
Just as a small nitpick: You could just crush your excess CO2 with an airlock crusher instead of piping hot gas through your asteroid. At ~20kg per tile a single, unpowered 2 tile crush space is more than enough to keep up with the CO2 production.
ONI needs a temp tool the lets you select an area and display the temperature using the highst and lowest in the selected area to generate the gradient.
Is the liquid carbon sourced from the diamond a good resource to hold onto? Its vaporization point 4,826, maybe use it as an easy melt solution for other rockets?
As I watched your playthrough where you built a monstrosity of a mobile base out of 3 rockets with 2 spacefarer modules each, I'm thrilled to see that... how about fueling the non nuclear rocket with liquid H2 and O2 that is produced inside the rocket? I know that it won't lead to a rocket with infinite range because you still have to fill the fuel containers from outside but the idea.... it just sounds "casual" to me, you know, the thing every ONI player does :D
Saw this in a short, but if you blast a tile with rad bolts it loses mass, if it is a player tile then at 0 mass dupes can pass through it, natural tiles disappear. might make rocket melting easier
I looked into this and it's a mg of damager per bolt or something similar. I hit a rocket wall with 100 rad bolts and it's mass had not decreased by even a gram. Generating enough rad bolts inside a rocket to destroy the walls would be crazy difficult. Easier to melt them.
Bad idea to have ONI open during this, the printing pod noise is causing me to constantly look at a paused instance trying to print something. 17:30 Happened to me yesterday, a Reservoir shares the heat content of itself with the tile it's standing on. 3900° Niobium inside a Reservoir will melt the diamond tile below it then disable itself, move liquid out, move down a tile and repeat.
If you starve the reactor by only feeding it small amount of uranium at the time, it doesn't produce as much heat, so you can get away with less turbines.
I seem to remember, once upon a time, that FJ started this run with narcoleptics. Seems that by about cycle 700, they forget they are actually narcoleptic, who knew? Having lots of dupes would definitely help, but there's more than that. There's a lot of base design/game method tweaks that make narcoleptic dupes more tolerable - opening a floor in the sauna for the dupes carrying debris so they don't have an 1800+C nap in the middle of your liquid locks is certainly one. If Murphy's Law is "anything that can go wrong, will go wrong", then Francis's Corollary is "anything that cannot go wrong, will not go wrong."
Yeah, a couple of episodes back FJ "reacted" to these types of comments by not editing out all of the dupes aggravating behaviour.
