loving how the melody changes pulse width to match the lyrics, it has that kind of effect that hearing a song go through a mp3 -> midi converter does where i can hear the lyrics even though they aren't there lmao. bangin cover cheese
I can't tell you how much I was hoping you'd post something like this today. Thank you for blessing us with your impeccable talents once again. (AMAZING work with the pseudo-speech on the lead pulse by the way! Your attention to detail is spot-on.)
You absolute legend. I also love how the instrument that sounds like his voice changes thickness (I don't know my words) enough that it sounds like it's an actual voice Masterpiece, if I'm to decide that.
The fact that you tried to apply the pulse wave song lyrics notes WITH the added effort of trying to match duty pitches to those lyrics, just blows my mind 🤯
Only after a year I realised how you used the DPCM channel here, no wonder this cover sounds so full with such a low ammount of channels available!! Not using it for the drums but instead to simulate what seem to be pulse waves is a very strong power move and I feel like I can't praise it enough.
This is a great version, it uses a ton of nice tricks to get it to sound really good. I like the use of the dpcm to add more to the square leads along with the other stuff such as the triangle drums alongside a base line
Often, music created in spite of technological limitations is more compelling than music created with the most cutting edge tech. Even though this was created far after the golden age of 8 bit music, it’s still a prime example!
It's amazing to think that this is possible with a soundchip that was just designed to make some beeps and boops. Almost sounds like something that's coming out of a super nintendo.
In the 90s Tim Follin did some rock and roll renditions on the Snes for Rock and roll Racing. Now Vinyl cheese do these on NES chip. How would you name the game?
Nah, you're actually correct. The vowel sound is emulated through pulse width modulation of the square wave that plays the lyrics. Just the vowels though.
Pulse, Noise and Triangle
on and off and off and on
@@marksmod 1001
And slight dpcm
That’s the way it works on the NES
And DPCM
This is just amazing. The simple detail of the change in squares to make it sound like voice adds the cherry on the top of the cake. Awesome work!
how do i do the square voice thing i need to know how
@@godwin972 it's just different pulse widths to simulate vowels, for example the "ah" sound can be 25%, and the "ee" sound can be 50%
@@godwin972 The term for this would be "timbre", I believe. Edit: I guess you could say, the 21st of SepTIMBRE!
That was horrible...
@@gregoriysharapov1936 Bad jokes are good comedy, sometimes it's so bad that it becomes funny.
YOU REMEMBERED.
I want to like but that would ruin the 69
I remembered too!

oh wow, this sounds WAY too rich for 2a03. also i can totally hear the lyrics in this cover, this is so great. absolute wizardry
And to think that this phenomenal cover was made with just the 2A03... Incredible!
Lol hey

The pwm changes, the chord structuring, the smart use of channels, and the tim follin style drums. I LOVE THISSSS!!!
The pitchbends too. Lovingly put together.
I knew i would get some kind of september 21st joke from somebody i subscribed to! Thanks dude!
Absolutely f-a-n-t-a-s-t-i-c VinylCheese! =D

You absolute legend.

Masterpiece, if I'm to decide that.
the "thickness" is called pulse width just in case you wanted to know!
Straight up Tim Follin style and I LOVE IT!
The fact that you tried to apply the pulse wave song lyrics notes WITH the added effort of trying to match duty pitches to those lyrics, just blows my mind 🤯
I just noticed you got an extra Pulse by using DPCM samples. That's such an ingenious move
Thank you for giving us this pitch bending arpy goodness on this day of our lords earth wind and fire
Unfortunately, I was born on the 21st night of september. 20 years ago. People forget and just sing the song instead
happy birthday :)
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday! 🎂
i hope you have a nice birthday!
happy birds of day
You could tell me this isn't a Tim/Geoff Follin arrangement and I would be hard-pressed to actually believe you. Great work!
This is pure gold!

this sounds really impressive for 2A03, goddamn
It's that time of the year again huh
How on earth do you emulate the basic vowel sounds on Famitracker? THAT'S FREAKING AMAZING!
Pulse width modulation.
^ that but way more limited due to the only 4 widths for pulse waves in the 2A03
No skill issue?
check out chibitech's nsf work...
@@RED40HOURS actually it's only 3 considering 25 and 75% are basically identical.
The level of detail is insane!
this is still one of my favorite moments of 2020
You are now my fav Nes vgm creator! I want my moms to hear this
Ah yes, the four elements, Earth, Wind, Fire and remembering a specific day of September!
Nice work!

Impressive. Excellent square wave "vocals"!
This is the correct day to listen to this.
God, I love this song. Fantastic work as always!
Ah, the song September, released in SEPTEMBER!
And on the 🎶 21st night of September! 🎶
Ah you mean September 21 8:00 PM
The fact that you accomplished this with just 4 instruments and no expansion chips is pretty awesome
i remember
Insane technicality!
2A03 in all its glory.
whoa 🤯
I just remembered
i think you've mastered famitracker at this point
using the DPCM for extra harmony???? galaxy brain

Yes, I do remember.
How do you get it to move that fast while still having the tempo and speed at the default values?
nice
Bahahaha, this made my day
can't remember since its happening right now
I would love you hear you do, " The way of the world" by Earth Wind and Fire like this.
Somewhere in California, Demi Adejuyigbe levels up and doesn't know why.
I can actually hear they lyrics in it, too.
Maybe it's just from the times I've heard it before though.
Nah, you're actually correct. The vowel sound is emulated through pulse width modulation of the square wave that plays the lyrics. Just the vowels though.
