Happy New Year! I was away for the first week of the year, so we didn't have our big budget chat until yesterday, but it feels good to have set our intentions for the year.

It's so lovely to hear you're more happy and content. I've always said save a little and spend a little. I think it's great you are saving for your girls too. It's great when you see your savings going up. Like you say it's a matter of being patient, it will come.

Happy New Year! I'm doing fair with spending. I have a money leak that I need to fix. My daughter is having her first child in May, and I have ordered quite a few things for her. I don't regret the purchases, but it's time to get back on track. I have fabric and am going to enjoy sewing some things for the nursery. I've just been swept up in my girl having her girl :) My daughter doesn't ask for a thing, so this is totally a thing that I need to correct.
Happy new year 🎉 have you thought about using the mortgage money your saving until April to make additional mortgage payments ? This really helps in the long run. 100% meal planning. I ask for suggestions from my family while we are eating on a Friday night, that way everyone gets input and it saves me thinking of 7 evening meals. I only plan evening meals as the boys have sandwiches for lunch and I generally eat a left over portion of what ever we had the night before.

It's a bit of a challenging time for us right now, since my daughter just turned 18 and her maintenance payments from her dad are coming to an end this year (£500 a month 😬) We're in survival mode at the moment, but once we get our finances back on track, I can’t wait to do that x

one of our kitchen cabinet doors kept coming off so we just took it off and made it into a open shelf with nice storage :)
