    Great tutorial. Thank you
    I will be making another travel quilt soon, as I had to gift mine to a non sewing friend who found my quillow 'too cute.'

    Thanks so much for this video. I just sewed my own travel blanket/pillow and incorporated some various features, including the travel strap you showed. Your video was the most helpful and clear. I put my pocket in the center of the blanket, so I can use it to stash my glasses or book when wearing it on the airplane.

    This was the best presented video out of 2 others that I watched! Concise and simple without trying to be cutesy! I love the strap idea for travel!

    This is a great tutorial, however, fleece doesn't shrink because it's made out of polyester. It's personal preference whether you wash it before sewing or not

    It would be helpful if you showed how to fold the blanket into the pillow.

    Do you sew the smaller end that is facing the longer fabric and leave the top of the fabric where you meet the two at the center? I sewed the bottom end but cannot seem to get it all to fit into the pillow part. I also made the blanket 58 inches long. Is that two long? Pam

      I'm trying to picture what you're saying in my head, but I'm not sure I fully understand the question. When I attach the pocket piece, I do not sew the side that is lined up on the edge of the blanket. Hopefully, this explanation helps! Happy holidays!!!

    Awesome video. I want one of these for my service dog. Can you make the blanket double layered and still fit it into the pillow

    • @DIYwithAshley
      @DIYwithAshley  7 лет назад

      I'm not sure if it would fit. Two layers of fleece would be very bulky. I think making a pillow blanket for a dog is a great idea. I should probably make one for mine too! :)

      DIY with Ashley great for taking the dog two friends homes and even better 4 places that you really don't know if you want your dog laying down on the floor.
      I may make one for all three of our dogs for when we go camping

    What about putting a throw pillow in the pillow part and what sizes would you need if to wanted 5ft wide?

    • @DIYwithAshley
      @DIYwithAshley  3 года назад +1

      You need fabic larger than 5ft wide or you need to sew two pieces of fabric together to make it 5ft wide. Adding a throw pillow might work but the idea of the pillow blankey is to turn the blanket into a pillow when not in use.

      I bought some 50 x 60 fleece throws at Walmart for 3.50. The corners are already rounded and the edges are already stitched. Just make the pocket, put it in the center as shown in this video. I would use an 18 inch square rather than 17 inch, but even at 17 inches it worked pretty well. I’m not sure it’s necessary to use webbing for the travel strap but I did. I’ll try one without the webbing and see how it holds up.

    I know the pillow is 17" x 17" , but what are the dimensions for the blanket. Did I miss it? Thank you!

    • @DIYwithAshley
      @DIYwithAshley  7 лет назад

      The blanket should be 55" x the width of the fleece fabric. Fleece fabric is typically 55" to 60" wide.

    Did you use one layer of fleece for the blanket or two?

    • @DIYwithAshley
      @DIYwithAshley  7 лет назад

      I only used one layer for the blanket part. The pillow is sewn separately and then attached.

  • @relevant_nebula
    @relevant_nebula 7 лет назад

    Is the blanket permanently sewn to the pillowcase? Can we have them separate?

    • @DIYwithAshley
      @DIYwithAshley  7 лет назад

      You would have to change the pattern slightly to make two separate parts for the pillow. At that point it would be like a sleeve for the blanket instead of an all in one pillow blanket.
      The blanket folds up to turn into the pillow so it's essential that they be sewn together. If you watch at 4:48 in the video, you can see how to fold the blanket to make it the pillow. Hopefully this answers your question, if not, please let me know. :)

      DIY with Ashley hi Ashley thanks for your reply. Yes it does kind of answer my question. I guess if the blanket was not attached to the pillowcase, you could end up losing certain parts. So it's really good they're attached. I will make it as you have instructed. Thank you xx

    Fleece has a pretty side where the design is more presentable and a blurry side. Does it matter which side u sew the pillow onto?

    • @ashp514
      @ashp514 6 лет назад

      I sewed it on the pretty side.

    I'm confused on two things, which end of the fleece do you cut the pillow from and I'm not sure where to attach the pillow to the blanket?

    • @DIYwithAshley
      @DIYwithAshley  4 года назад

      It depends on the size of your fabric. You need to consider the final measurements of the blanket. I typically leave the longest side alone so I can have a full length blanket.
      You need to find the center of the pillow and the center of the blanket and line those points up. Just remember not to sew the top of the pillow to the blanket.

    Okay, I think I'm missing something! If you sew all away around the pillowcase when attaching to the blanket how do you put a pillow in it? Perhaps I'm missing something? I really love this idea, but I guess I don't fully understand...

    • @DIYwithAshley
      @DIYwithAshley  7 лет назад +2

      You do not sew all around the pillow when attaching it to the blanket. You only sew along the sides and bottom. The top part is not sewn to the blanket because you need to tuck the blanket into the pillow pocket to form the pillow.
