I'd second that. To be honest, I think this is one of my favorite Babymetal songs. It's catchy, and it actually if you listen to it kinda shows a bit of the range Su can dish out. She does high notes, and low notes in this song. I think this is one of Babymetal's most under-appreciated songs.

What's confusing? It's BABYMETAL owning the stage yet again. When the crowd sings Yui's parts in the Legend S show..... I have to fight back tears everytime. The amount of love those fans show is astonishing.
I heard this is Viking Metal, but from what I can tell this is a song about a hero. And there are references to Ultraman in it.

Good reaction - there is a lot of Ultra Man influence in this one. Interestingly Su-metal has said her favourite songs from Metal resistance were 'Meta Taro' and from Metal Galaxy 'Oh! Majinai' ... she seems to enjoy a bit of folk metal.
With this one she liked that the choreo was simple so the fans could dance along. I think she overestimated the dancing abilities of most of the fans - but they do manage to do the salute parts very well.
It's one of SUMETALs favorite BABYMETAL songs :)
And the audience sang Yui's part! When she was gone!
A few interesting facts:
- at 2:55 this compilation cuts Yui's part, and the footage goes to the Legend S show where Yui was not there, and you can hear the crowd chanting Yui's part to help Moa.
- Fun you mentioned Joakim from Sabaton, since at the Dark Night Carnival show held in 2018, he and a little bit overwieght Darth Vader joined Babymetal on stage for a chanting part in this song :D
- SU said in an interview that "Meta Taro" is her favorite song from the second album!
Another fun fact: That overweight Darth Vader became one of Babymetals guitarist on their last American and European tour.

In the Dark night carnival concert Sabaton opened for Babymetal and Joakin join them on stage for this song to do the chant.

Meta Taro means Metal Boy, and could be a riff on Iron Man by Sabbath. He comes to save the world. Babymetal said they had very young fans, and very old fans, and they put this song together with choreo that everyone could do.
I remember when this dropped I had much the same reaction as you, but the song really grew on me and got stuck in my head. One of my more played songs off the second album, which really surprises me.
Tarō in Wikipedia: _a stand-alone masculine Japanese given name or a common name suffix (literally meaning "eldest son"). Variations of the name Taro include 太郎, "strong, heroic, masculine"_
太郎 is what Babymetal used for the song.
There was also an Ultraman Taro (quoting Wikipedia): _Taro is one of the most typical masculine names in otogi-banashi (Japanese fairy tales). According to the producer, Ultraman Taro was imagined as "the fairy tale in the Ultra Series"._
Meta Taro is more a marching band song, it's one of those you have to be there songs that they do. They have the crowd doing every move, it just shows the control they have, with a song that isn't a popular song by them. Also I just love the look on Yui's face at 9:36
There is great looks from all 3 but Yui's is so cute in that one 🤘❤🤘
Ultraman is an iconic character in Japan. A live action TV show that frequently gets rebooted so almost every generation has grown up with it. He even appeared in a Godzilla movie. This is based on the Ultraman taro reboot.
Nothing weird or strange just BabyMetal rallying the troops.

I read somewhere where this song is inspired by the old Japanese TV series “Ultra Man” of the 1970’s ( I loved watching that show as a kid). BabyMetal has an anthem (you probably know this) The One. Which is a tribute to their fans.
Meta Taro is The Death Warrior and the Big brother of Oh! Majinai The Pirates.

Meta Taro and Oh Majinai are maybe the weirdest of BABYMETAL's songs. They also happen to be SU-METAL's two favorites. Which is very in character since she is, by all accounts, a huge goofball.
She is a beautiful and talented goofball. And I love it.

This song talk about a hero which description in the lyrics suspiciously similar to Ultraman, a Japanese kid TV show. Even Yui and Moa mimic Ultraman flying pose in the choreography 😁

BabyMetal's Meta Taro is indeed a hymn. It sounds to me like a military march the girls way. The day I saw them live in Mexico City I thanked the metal gods for being one of their soldiers!!!
You know that Boh also plays in a jazz / fusion band, right? So, Boh is boh'ing to nobody and will boh the crab out of every song that gets thrown at him. Or as Homer Simpson would say: B'oh!
Loved your reaction, and I hadn't actually seen this compilation before, and just realized it's great. Meta Taro never was one of my favorites, too, but there's so many layers to it, and it's an aquired taste to most fans. Interesting that the stuff you heard in there all works (military march, nursery rhyme, celtic), and to me it's also one of their 'viking' songs. I also saw some video wherein an older Japanese actress, who is a huge Babymetal fan, remarked that it reminds her of an old traditional, more rural song.
Oh Majinai is definitely the sister track to Meta Taro of the previous album.
Irish Nursery-rime marching metal ? or whatever it is. It's true, these songs are probably created especially for the live performance.
They work less well on the album and it confuses people a lot at first listen. This song was meant to allow even the youngest kids to join in with the choreography which is why it's a fairly simple song. Be careful not to listen on repeat it will be stuck in your head at least one or two days when you wake up ! LOL
"Maybe Sabaton" Which is why I wanted Babymetal to perform at 'Polish Woodstock', well Pol'and'Rock Festival now, some day. :-)
They were going to perform in Poland in 2021 but that didn't happen.

Meta Taro is one of my least favourite songs, but that doesn't mean it's not awesome to watch the girls perform it. And as you said, it's perfect for a crowd chant interlude.
Duane-sensei explained that it's probably about a baseball star bringing fame to his underdog team, while also having some references to famous Japanese superhero stories like Ultraman. Apparently at Japanese baseball events the music often has this march-like form, so that's probably why they chose it.
THANK YOU for dealing with the Amuse/RUclips BS and taking a risk by putting up another BABYMETAL reaction! Have you considered reacting to a BABYMETAL concert/show on TWITCH? A couple of other reactors have done it and us BABYMETAL fans can easily watch them over and over again, because they are so good! "Legend S", Su's 20th birthday concert, is crazy!🦊🤘

I'm confused too. because before I didn’t pay any attention to this song at all (having listened to the album version once).
And recently I looked at the reaction to it (yours is already 5 in a row) and realized that one more song is leaving a number of uninteresting ones for me personally (only a few songs left).

Weird song... Really only works live and it's amazing to see... If King Ghidorah ever attacks Tokyo, they just need to blast this and Japan will defeat the monster by themselves, no need to to wake up Godzilla this time.
Weirdest time was when they had Joakim from Sabaton on stage doing these moves (plus Darth Vedder). Joakim's WTF face was priceless.
With Babymetal, it's pretty much "expect the unexpected". There is a guy on YT named Andrew Hartley who has dissected most of the BM songs from the first 2 albums and he explains this one also. As Grington300 300 explained, it sort of relates to Ultra Man.

Babymetal doing a different kinda song, will the wonders ever end ? lol This is just a prep song to get you ready for the bangers. No need to throw it all out there at once. Sometimes you gotta build the crowd up or bring a crowd down a little. So the fans have something left for the more epic songs. Babymetal knows how to put on a show.
Su, Moa and/or Yui (can’t recall which one said it) mentioned that it would be nice to teach Metallica their choreography... I think this is the one I’d most like to see Lars and mates try out. It’s not intensive enough to kill them outright and with proper stretching they should be fine.
Babymetal always forces you leave your normal. With Gimme Choco or Doki2 Morning, they tell you to abandon your normal perception of metal. With Meta Taro, they tell you to abandon your normal perception of Babymetal.
The lyrics tells the story about Ultraman. The moves you're trying to replicate are Ultraman's stances, like when he's shooting lasers and stuff. It is rhytmically simplistic with rigid choreography. No complex structure, no guitar shreds, technical metalist will absolutely hate hahaha
And yes it does resemble nursery rhymes. This connects well with Babymetal's Japanese younger audience demography. It also makes a great chant. Oh heck, I argue that it is so simplistic that it can connect with anything!
I feel that this song doesn't try to be a banger, nor does it try too hard to be anything at all. It does what it does in it's own way. It is simple and enjoyable. It is my favorite tune for a long time :)
Well it's about 9am my time, when I watched this reaction. Catchy song. But just didn't hit for me. Its different and shows versatility.

This song was meant to the younger audience. The girls wanted the kids to enjoy and do the choreo with them. Su said it in the interview.

About Meta Tarô & Ultraman Tarô
Some lyrics of this song seem to have references to "Ultraman" series, Japanese SFX TV drama series of giant heroes. "Ultraman Tarô" is the 5th series broadcast in 1973.
Ultra Family live in "Hikari no Kuni" (= Country of Light), a planet 300 million light-years away. Ultra Brothers are about 10000-20000 year old. Some Ultramen disguise themselves as human and other Ultramen have merged with some human to revive him/her. There are also Ultramen who had been human and became Ultraman. Anyway, on this Earth, an Ultraman lives as human in peacetime and changes into Ultraman when a crisis comes.
Throughout all series, in some episodes, obvious invaders appear, but in other episodes, monsters (= kaijû; lit. strange beasts) are something like a bear or an elephant straying into a village. In some episodes, Ultramen try to drive them away alive.
"太郎" (tarô) or "○太郎" (xxxtarô) is a traditional popular male name in Japan (usually given to the first-born son). Ultraman Tarô was popular to elementary schoolboys, but I feel this song is rather like the theme song of Anpanman who is a hero popular to much younger kids.

I know you said you got blocked using the Babymetal Reactor Resource channel in another comment, but a lot of other people have used it a bunch with no issues. I think the difference is that you make the video fullscreen instead of yourself, which is the opposite of what most reactors do, however, I have still seen other people sue those videos fullscreen as well and not have blocking issues. I think you just got unlucky, out of curiosity, which song did you get blocked on?

@@OldSkuleNerd that's also interesting information. I suspected this might happen, people think if it's already on RUclips it can't get blocked as easily. But I think what will get blocked depends on just on the region of the viewer but also the region it was uploaded.
@@autohmae and also I think at this point Amuse has a little bit of quarrel with this channel, since he keeps the fullscreen, so I think they are going out of their way to block everything Babymetal related that comes out of this channel!
@@BlackArr0w You are on to something the reason isn't because of the channel, just because of the fullscreen. The higher the quality video/bigger part of the screen you upload the more likely it's gonna get blocked. You can upload something at 240p and it's much more likely to not get blocked.

Obviously, you haven't heard much BM, because this is not an outlier. This is one of their most popular songs and Su has said that this song is in her top 3 songs to perform. SMH. Unbelievable.
