- What's up, people! I'm back with another Depeche Mode reaction, and this time we listen to a request (shout-out to Nina!). Indeed, join me as we go back to the Exciter album (2001) for the song "One Caress," which presents a fascinating take on sexual intimacy as it relates to the narrator's sense of temptation, sin, and dark psychology. I hope you enjoy the song and video! Cheers.

this song is pure magic, the strings pull at your heartstrings. One of my favorite DM songs ever! Glad you love it too!
Haven't heard this song in a long time, love it! Depeche Mode and Duran Duran are two of my favourite bands and I enjoy watching your reactions.
Thank you! Really appreciate that. And yeah, I've loved Depeche for about 40 years but have only just discovered how great Duran Duran is! Cheers, thanks again for commenting.
I've always loved the song's lyrical approach. A classic Martin Gore trick that I think is often missed is his use of subversion - the opening lines seem to lead the listener to think the singer is addressing God, only for Gore to subvert or misdirect that idea with "Oh girl, lead me into your darkness." This is very provocative songwriting. Songs like this are what make Songs of Faith & Devotion the absolute peak of Depeche Mode's creative output. As great as some later albums are, there is simply no comparison. This album has it all.
Jesse! So good to see you again. Thanks as always for the info, have looked forward to another one of your comments!
'One Caress' is not a track on "Exciter" but on "Songs Of Faith And Devotion". The vocals of Martin are out of this world. One of his best performances.
Oh, did I say otherwise? If I did, my mistake. The video was admittedly a while back, and I don't vouch for anything I said more than like 24 hours ago, lol. But my bad all the same.
@@mattsnider2667 You said it right but in the written intro text you mention Exciter and there are hashtags refering to Exciter instead of SOFAD. But that's just me, Mr. Perfect nitpicking.
This one and Condemnation my favorites of the album
Rush. Really fast paced song that leads into this song. Also in your room is great.
its kind of vampiric
I was smiling from ear to ear when you first heard the strings come in....it would be interesting to hear Martys demo in contrast...Id like to believe that Alan and Flood went in a complete opposite direction 🤣🤣🤣again..like they did with Enjoy the Silence .Marty seems to prefer a minimalistic sound and I dont blame him as his lyrics are so good and dense but Omg I get goosebumps everytime I hear how the music matches the intensity of the lyrics...this one and Higher Love...btw I love your interpretation...I used to think he was talking to/ personafying Death ...
👏TY for the reaction...😍
judas
React to Rush...its got a real urgency to it...plus its dirty 😋
Right on, I'll do that one in the next few days. Great suggestion, appreciate you!
Lmao YES!!!
