Don’t know if it’s something you guys are interested in or thought of but you both have great questions and would love to see you interview some other people couples and families in the space in this style
That was really cool. It was really easy to listen to you MAK. Didn't even notice the length of the vid...good questions Owen. Thank y'all for that, little somethin different.
Super interesting and insightful. Mak, you do indeed have a voice full of honesty, integrity and good humour that deserves to be heard! I also think this video should be shown to young couples as a model of what great communication skills looks like. Finally your photos and drawings are magnificent!
LOVED THIS EPISODE! Please do more of these talks or even start a podcast and discuss different topics about living and working on the road. Even if it’s only once a month I would love to hear them!
I think that would be a really fun project. I'm looking to transition into something like that, just have to get through all the work I currently have on the calendar and can start pondering something like that!
With all the negativity towards social media these days, the fact remains it's an incredible storytelling tool that you guys have executed exquisitely and responsibly and that makes all the difference. Summer Adrift has helped keep me motivated and inspired to finish my van and hit the road, I'm almost there. Happy travels!
I read your interview in truck camper magazine and loved it! And resonated with me so much. I am full time in a Toyota dolphin with my pets. I love the small space and the life intimacy it fosters. I thought it was so sweet how you said you never want to be far from your spouse:) so special.
Enjoyed every second of this video! Thank you for your insight, and recap of the last 5 years. My eyes are still stinging from crying over sweet Luna. You two are beautiful souls. 💕
Love the interview and loved getting to know you guys a bit. Inspiring words. Serious Oprah moment when you reminisced about Luna. Pets live with us forever.
Funny, just watched a couple of your older videos. As MAK was narrating while driving I thought she's a natural story teller. That's what kept me to the end.
Owen, that was a great interview with many great questions. I think the timing on the Luna question was fine, better than having it at the end so the ending was more of a positive upbeat finale. Mak, loved your responses, many heart felt moments explained and really good assessment of what Full Time on the Road Living can really be. I am sure encouraging people just to just do it and get out there and explore this country was the best advise to truly appreciate the adventures awaiting them.
Thank you so much for watching! We are so glad you enjoyed it. We felt like this would be a fun way to share a little about us in kind of a unique way. Also it was fun to have Owen interview me using questions he wouldn't share with me until he asked them here.
I used to go to a coffee house years ago called Nowhere. As you have probably explored its meaning. For me, it was not nowhere but Now Here. More about in the moment. Enjoyed the interview.
Idk if yall have come to this realization but your channel is providing real inspiration, moving people to make decisions in their own lives. It's incredible. Also a month before our house sold we lost our little sally cat. She'd been with us for 10 years and right when we made the decision to travel the U.S. we lost her. It's heartbreaking and I just want you to know that we feel your pain. We still don't know how to process it 😪
I had been wondering where part had was hiding. Loved how Owen described your photo as dreamy, it is by the way. Great questions and answers editing is unbelievably clean and sharp as always
Thank you so much we really appreciate that! As much as we were bummed it took us this long to get back to refilming this, it's kind of cool to see how far our video skills have come!
Awesome guys, insightful and well done as always! Thank you for continuing to bring so much inspiration to people everywhere, creating, and spreading love! :)
Awesome interview guys! MAK...I can totally relate to your life experience. I grew up a USAF Brat...lived all over the US and Germany and England growing up...we moved 18 times when I lived at home. Then I did 26 years in the Army, so I totally get the "okay, I'm bored, time to move to somewhere new to explore! I have since retired and live in Alaska...the mountains, remote country just called to me. Enjoy the life you guys have now, enjoy it to the fullest with no regrets! Looking forward to seeing where your adventures take you next! Oh, I agree with Jon S....you guys should start a program "interviewing" others living the life style on the road! Cheers!
That's so funny! Us military brats definitely carry those experiences with us through life. And I agree we like doing this style of interview so this will certainly have to be something we do more of in the future!
I wasn't expecting to cry so much, but I've been catching up on videos and didn't know about Luna. She is what brought me to your channel. I'm so sorry for your loss. RIP Luna.
MAK, I can totally see you as a travel show host. You guys need to know that your vlogs are so professional compared to the majority you see on youtube. 😀😀
Beautiful to see your love and respect for your animal friend. Speaks to your love for our non-human friends. Thanks for showing and sharing this. We have too much love to give. You’re both beautiful .
Really enjoyed the long interview! I'd love of podcast from the road from you two! With all the other awesome people you meet and experiences to share! Over the time of watching your channel me and my girlfriend actually fulllfilled our dream and build out a ford transit and will be traveling Sweden this summer! Your videos and attitudes inspired me to think a lot bigger and seek out more dirt roads and adventures. Thank you for sharing something so special and beautiful! Greetings from Germany🙏
Real talk. I’m a military brat, as well as, having served 7 years in the US Army. I’ve been nomadic (on the road and traveling the world) for the past 5 years. Good to know you two are out there getting after life.
I was moved by your remembrances of Luna too. I think all animal owners have experienced the pain of loss, and often guilt associated with what could have been done, or missed opportunities. I still "talk" to my lost ones daily, especially my beautiful three year old pup who developed a sudden immune disorder that caused internal bleeding and paralysis. I had gone on a solo motorcycle adventure about six weeks earlier and am still guilt ridden over the lost time with her. (I called from the road a few times to talk with the dog sitter and my pup licked the phone when she heard my voice.) Regarding your future plans and interest in Native American culture and art, I wanted to mention something my sister told me about yesterday. I live near Sequoia National Park and yet knew nothing about Sequoyah, the person, or of his invention of the Cherokee Syllabary and the process of convincing others to utilize it. As I understand it, that also led to other tribes developing written languages. I spent years (between high school and college) traveling and living outdoors in the 1970s and often thought about Native American culture and the People's great connection with the land. To this day, I tend to visualize developed areas I encounter as they must have appeared before the arrival of the Europeans. We (humans in general) tend to go about with mental blinders in place, focussed on artificially narrowed portions of life and geography and nature around us, and it is always fascinating to have your "eyes" opened a bit. I could certainly imagine Mak writing and illustrating books, including children's books about the places you two have traveled to and, perhaps, about the Native Americans.
I also broke down in Ashfork, just 3 days in on a 14 day Route 66 road trip! 😆 I pushed on through Flagstaff to Gilbert, but at that point I was losing so much coolant I knew I needed to stop pushing my luck and get home to fix the car. I’ll be picking up the trail this fall! Thanks for sharing, this is such a great interview! 😎🤘🏻🤘🏻
I really want to interview them this way. This is the first time we've ever done sit down and interview rather than driving and interviewing. So I think there is some fun stuff we can do with it in the future!
Yay! The "Mac" interview! We wish there was more vids of the Element & more Tacoma adventures. Hugs...Luna lives with all us. This was super fun. Lou & Angie
great video guys!! happy to hear Alaska is in your future :) are you taking the camper there or flying in? anyways - I am sure you will enjoy it very much! spent a couple of months there traveling in a van - I still daydream about it. don't miss a few days on the Denali highway!
Would love to see you all in different rigs if people/companies let you try them out for different trips like you all did recently with the other truck 🛻 would love to see you all rock a Sportsmobile van like the russos did for a trip
Ok why not over some local beer from each town. So you sit down for a local beer and they are different flavors and swap . This way you get to taste both kinds and do a question each town you stop in for each other! I am getting a slide in truck camper for myself for some adventures! Glad you both still have the itch for travel. Take care. OH YEAH love this video!
She is out there. She has a new new owner now and the OG owner didn't think the suspension was as bad as we did however I think we've come to realize what we were asking of that sunrader was just more than it was meant to do.
Hello Owen and MAK! Just curious, Around 13.56 Owen said that he doesn't like to "pop a top". What is it about doing that that he doesn't like? Or what does he see as a disadvantage to vehicles that need to pop up? Thanks! :)
Honestly it just boils down to loss of access to our under bed storage. He says that he doesn't like pop tops but that was all too vague because we honestly do prefer them because of the lower center of gravity we get while driving and will likely always have a poptop of some kind. There are certainly pluses and minuses to both, but stability off road is a high priority for us!
@@BoundForNowhere Thanks for your response. Compromising is certainly a theme in RV life. I was also wondering if you folks ever needed to "stealth camp" in a larger city or town and have slept with the top down and if so how that went? Hey, I'm from Hi... You guys really listen to each other..."I don't remember what yours was".🤣 Where are you now and what are your plans for this summer?
