    Pretty amazing that Mary walked 100 miles before giving birth to Jesus. I hope this part of the gospels is descriptive, not prescriptive.

    • @TheKeesBoerMinistryChannel

      Not prescriptive. You and Jan would have to walk a total distance from Gainesville to Nebraska.... And actually going back to.
      But it is amazing that the folks from Galilee had to walk that distance three times a year to Jerusalem. Going and Returning! (Without Frequent Walking Miles Points!)

      @@Chris_Sheridan This seems to be really troubling you Chris. When you change cultures and go back 2,000 years a lot of things change. And by the way, here in South America, we have many 10-12 year old girls, who are shepherds.... I know because we disciple them.

      @TheKeesBoerMinistryChannel .. ok - I see what your problem is - despite Luke's gospel account having been accepted by many generations as referencing the good news of Jesus' birth being announced to shepherds watching over their flocks by night - the inference being mature adult male shepherds .. you are yet obsessed with young 10-12 year old girls playing the role of the shepherds in Luke's gospel account.
      You are misrepresenting scripture, when you have no basis to do so and your insistence and inclination towards 'young shepherd girls' is concerning.

    Many interesting points. Only thing was the shepherd girls. The Greek was shepherds in masculine form, though if there was one male among them, they still use the masculine. But so young girls in the night watch? Did they understand the angelic proclamation? Did they make decisions about travelling into the town at that age? Were they considered valid witnesses during that time? Modern Bedouin culture does not mean the ancient Jewish was the same in all points.

      Very interesting. I've heard that the proclamation that the angeles did was also in a very well known song from that time. Though I haven't been able to verify that.
      From what I understand that the modern Bedoim culture is very similar to the culture that the Bible was written in. Specifically the Jewish shepherd culture.

    why is a Missionary needed, in South Africa.....with many Churches....

      I don't know that much about South Africa. I was on ships from South Africa about 50 years ago. But even with churches. Many churches don't teach the Gospel. So, there is still a lot of people to be reached.

    So the Roman Catholic Mass is evoked each time we say "Christmas" ("Christ-Mass" or "Mass of Christ")?

    • @TheKeesBoerMinistryChannel
      @TheKeesBoerMinistryChannel  День назад +1

      I was just talking with someone about that yesterday. In English that is definitely the origin of the word, but every time we say Easter, we don't think of asherah either. So, words evolve within a language. I don't think that people think about that necessarily.

    Romans didn't invent crucifixion, they refined it. It was practiced in that part of the world long before the Romans.

    Shepherd 'girls' ??
    Nowhere does the bible even mention that .. the context in scripture is ALWAYS male ie Jesus is known as the good shepherd who takes care of his flock ..

    • @TheKeesBoerMinistryChannel
      @TheKeesBoerMinistryChannel  4 дня назад +1

      Do you remember that Moses found his wife as a shepherd girl? Also in the culture of the Bedoim, generally the shepherds are children from 10-12 years old. Most of them girls. Then the father is the chief shepherd. It in the middle eastern culture. David was also a child taking care of the sheep.
      The Bible doesn't mention everything, because things were understood. Just like when you read a book, a lot of things are understood within the culture....
      Jesus is obviously Male. No question about that. David was male, and so was Moses.

    • @Chris_Sheridan
      @Chris_Sheridan 4 дня назад +1

      @TheKeesBoerMinistryChannel .. read Luke 2:8-20
      Shepherds were keeping watch over their flocks at night - clearly a responsible job for adult male shepherds and certainly not something assigned to young girls who could find themselves in danger. Nowhere in the text does it even hint that young females would be given the responsibility of staying awake at night and living outdoors with sheep.
      Your bible understanding and reasoning is unsound - these shepherds also later gave testimony to what they had seen - the witness accounts concerning the appearance of angels would be far more credible coming from adult male shepherds than from young girls, who many would have assumed could be dreaming.
      People like you are merely attention seekers that try to misrepresent the bible by adding what is not explicitly stated.
      After Jesus' resurrection, it is clear from the account that women saw Jesus before the disciples.

    • @TheKeesBoerMinistryChannel

      You might google Bedoim Shepherd Girls. You'll see photos. That is the same culture since Abraham.
      But anyways, If you're going to judge me as merely an attention seeker, I'm not sure that this is a fruitful conversation. We'll just agree to disagree...
