The true meaning of Repentance in the Greek is (Metanoia) "A CHANGE OF MIND, from unbelief to belief. It may surprise many Christians to learn that the phrase “Repent of your sins “or “Repent from your sins “is not found anywhere in the bible! Nowhere in the Bible does it say repent of your sins to be saved. Repent [change your inner self-your old way of thinking, regret past sins, live your life in a way that proves repentance; seek God's purpose for your life], for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Repentance is a change of mind about who Jesus is, what He has done for you. That change of mind that you have will lead to a change of action that leads to a Godly sorrow to salvation. Both Jesus and John the Baptist called all Man to change their minds from unbelief to belief (not confess our sins for salvation) we are still in a fleshly body that when we grieve the holy spirit via our sinfulness we should be sorrowful and ask for forgiveness he will forgive and refresh us...seventy times seven...At the point of salvation our sins are paid for past, present and future so there is no need to confess them to be saved because they are immediately washed away, your Godly sorrow has led you to believe in the finished work of the cross John 19:30, so Jesus and John are calling for a turning a change of mind only for the kingdom of God is near. Christians sin each day even when they do not know they are or they intended to, if only one sin committed than we fall with all the commandments. (James 2:10) The Apostle Paul describes in Romans 7 regarding his struggle with the flesh and describes himself as a wretched Man (Romans 7:24) Our choice to walk in the flesh or the Spirit, the old Man versus the new Man BUT when we do sin, we repent (a change of mind) is needed to turn away from committing the same sin repeatedly. “And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness,” Romans 4:5, “Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance (change of mind, Metanoia) toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.” Acts 20-21 We’re looking for conditions within to merit salvation. We glance at the way of salvation by Christ alone, but then we still try to use our own prayers and repentance to serve as a partial remedy, forgetting that Christ insists on being our total righteousness before God. “Whoever believes”, “believe” comes from the Greek word pisteuo, which means so much more than just believing something in your head. It means “believe in, to entrust, to rely on, to cling to.

Reminds me of our bus driver in Honduras on the way to our camp. We had to drive up the side of a mountain, the "road" barely wide enough for the small bus & no guardrails; we could have easily driven off the edge. Every time we'd go around a turn, he wouldn't slow down despite it being 2 way & there not being enough room for even a tiny car to pass, he'd just honk the horn. 😂
