This was a very satisfying video for me to make because it tells the story of my most notorious shiny hunt ever, my hunt for a shiny Kartana!

Gens 7 and 9 are my personal favourites, so it seems to be that if a region has totem-esc Pokémon battles, it’s one of my favourites. Plus they both have really good stories. (Yes, I know gen 5 is good, too. You can shut up now.)
I know some people complain about the new shiny odds but I feel the accessibility helps people.
Not everyone has time and it's always a little disheartening with every 'fail' of a hunt.
I'm more of the casual player/ goober. Can't get into competitive at all - I wanna use my favorite Bird Pokemom.
I agree too. Also is it just me or doe it feel like they removed overworld sparkles and made the gimmighoul event harder just for those people who complain that shines are easy and have no value now? I personally think it's up to the person who's hunting it to determine its value. Like I got a shiny beldum in sun in one sos call. I didn't have an plans for it and was just leveling up my team (meaning nothing to weaken it safely) so, when I had the opportunity to, I chucked a master ball at it and then showed it off to everyone in the Pokemon community. So many people told me I wasted my master ball and I could have used it on a legendary or tapu. (I don't really care for legendary Pokemon and I already caught all 4 tapus at this point with the save method.) Honestly that logic doesn't make any sense because at that time, you could easily reset a legendary if you ran out of balls or, fainted it by accident while shines in this game, couldn't be saved. And I don't care if others have that same shiny due to an event in Oras, I wasn't going to loose it. The story behind it is worth more to me than a legendary. I would even take mine over a competitive viable Metagross anyways shiny or not.
shiny's are kinda lame now it used to be special when you hunted or just found one randomly now its like who cares most people have box's full of them
The thing about shiny Pokémon is that their value is *inherently* based on rarity. That is what makes them special. At some point, things just aren’t always going to be available for every type of player.
It’s similar to people that complain Pokémon GO can’t be played mostly from home. Like, I’m sorry, but the game’s entire point is that it encourages you to be physically active, and give you immersion of Pokémon being on the real world. What’s even more annoying are the people who use the guise of “it isn’t accessible for disabled people”, when they really don’t even care about that at *all.* They just want to use any reason to make the game be like every other game where you sit at home and don’t move. There are dozens of thousands of games where you can do that.
Anyways, sorry to slightly derail, it just reminded me of that situation.
@@asuuki2048There’s things that can do to make the game playable for ppl who live in rural areas or disabled people who can’t go out while also making the game more for going out and exploring. Shadow raids should not be in person, and you should be able to trade with players from anywhere. They could make it where if you do that you can only trade once a week or only a couple days of the week so you can’t abuse it. Those two things would be amazing for disabled and rural players and you’d have less people complaining. What I hate is people who can go out and have an actual community complain about stuff like only being able to remote 5 raids a day, those people are just so privileged.

Gen 7 is right behind gen 5 for me. Literally the only issues are the kind of lacking post game and the amount of cutscenes.

@@mr_nerd1 that's not true, they ripped the anime, the games were considered great when they came out, I was there for years and I can say that Alola didn't get half the backlash XY got, hell, even Galar was more hated because of the National dex cut
I once went 24,000-ish soft resets for a full-odds Cresselia in Alpha Sapphire. It took basically the entirety of a summer break of fairly regular hunting and nothing can describe how I felt when I finally found it. Thankfully even my worst hunts since haven't even come close to how absurdly unlucky I was with Cresselia, but it's a fun story and I look back on it with some fondness now

I did about 23700ish soft rests and over 5 months shiny hunting the xy starter fenniken. 6x odds. I completely get the feeling of ambiguity and the joy of finally finding it. Great shiny and content, keep it up

Going so over odds is always a real pain in the ass. My shiny Mesprit (the roaming one) took precisely 24547 resets. Thats almost 3x over odds! I do not wish this pain upon anyone ever.

Ultra sun was actually my very first Pokémon game, so I’m really happy to see others who love it. I think alola will always have a special place in my heart.

Congrats! I feel really guilty because this is the one shiny that I had insane luck at. I got an accidental shiny Kartana and I figured id check what ultra beast it was. Got it first encounter and I literally screamed I was praying i didnt fail it. It’s the luckiest I’ve ever been. I was saying to myself that id soft reset a couple hundred times just to see if I get lucky but i didnt expect first encounter at all.
That's insane, I wish something like that would happen to me!
It makes up for my two month stint trying to SOS hunt a Mareanie and having to pass up two shiny corsola to do it in the same game I suppose haha. Wishing you good shiny luck nevertheless!
I feel this SO much man, I'm currently hunting a pawniard in gen 5, reached 22k random encounters this week, and by the end of the month it'll be the one year anniversary of that hunt (my longest so far). I'm trying not to feel demotivated, but after watching your video i'm actually super eager to finally find my blue little guy! damn, pawniard was my first shiny ever, got it on a random encounter and decided SHINYOMG was the best nickname ever, what other shinies if any have you found on your hunt so far?
@@spectre8701 lmao that's so cool! My first shiny was a Bidoof on emulated platinum, but it was on my dad's old phone I don't have the file anymore so idk what I called it. So far I haven't go any phases, I'm doing a repel trick with Pawniard at 98 or 97%, the other spawn being Gothorita in Black and Duosion in White (wouldn't mind phasing on Duosion, the shiny looks really cool).
This video is so incredibly relatable to me. I started to reset for a shiny Poipole during quarantine (around early march 2020) and it finally decided to show it’s face over 3 years later (may 2023)

WOO! A FELLOW KARTANA ENJOYER! I was never a competitive player (or shiny hunter) but Kartana quickly became my favourite false swiper while I was filling out the Pokédex! Its such a silly little guy
dialga is also the pokemon that got me into shiny hunting, I was playing through BDSP and i'm like I've already played this game what can I do differently this time, so I decided to start hunting dialga, and the high of getting it was so fantastic that I just never stopped hunting since after that time
I got mine from the dynamax adventure den. A feel a little guilty about not putting in this much work lol. If only they would let the ultra beasts into s/v.

I had a very similar experience hunting for guzzlord in ultra sun but it only took a year, every hunt i had before was very short compared to it. its too bad i never knew about a shiny counter app back then, my shortest hunt would probably be nihilego
the ultra beasts are so awesome and i love gen 7. may be biased bc its the first one i got to experience but its fun!!
I went 4800+ SRs for Shiny Uxie before encountering the shiny while the shiny charm was active throughout all the resets. Going over the odds is not uncommon but going 3-4x beyond odds is an anomaly
Im say this i had the same problem with pharamosa it wouldn't shiny till freaking 2020 and i had shiny charm as well
this was over a year ago but dude congrats. about 2k resets deep on shiny mewtwo with charm i thought THAT was unlucky but nonetheless congrats on dialga! (kartana is cool too ig)
Big agree on Gen 7, USUM are among the best Pokemon games of all time, and people mostly just hate them because of comparing it to SM, an admitted excess of unskippable cutscenes, and silly things where people want super specific features (mostly following pokemon and battle frontier (which most people I see complain about the absence of have never gotten a gold medal in any facility in any game)) that were only in a few games.
People saying it's bad because of how little it is more than SM is especially hilarious to me though because those same people are also the ones that rate Crystal/Emerald/Platinum as best of all time, even though USUM is about the same amount more content compared to it's lesser version games as those 3.
Seeing people come around to Gen 6 and especially loving ORAS (which was HATED on release) makes me certain that people will eventually see how fun of Pokemon games that USUM, SwSh with DLC, and S/V with the future DLC really are.

@@Anthmags72 SwSh is still probably the weakest of those, but I think it gets a considerable amount more hate than it deserves. It really is just Crown Tundra though that makes me overall fond of it, it'd probably be totally forgettable to me without that.

Also scarlet and violet: gives you a single beast ball as a reward for dex. Why give a single beast ball when the only Pokemon it's made for aren't even programmed with models in the game yet

Talk about painful I wanted a male shiny Wimpod and i hunted for it mid playthrough without the shiny charm and you know I had to save right before he ran into me and soft reset it and I ended up encountering 3 female shiny after like 2 years and 6 months of srs and just gave up on the male wimpod

My first successful soft reset was for azelf in ultra sun and I think it only took a week for me. Still... I haven't tried that method after that...
I got my Buttercup the Giratina in a similar way to your Dialga! I was lazy and was resetting until one got in the quick ball. Just pure luck that a shiny popped up in only a few resets

@@alwaystired2452 I did! I was way way way way over odds but I’ve got him nice and cozy in the box and when legendaries are legal I use him in VGC consistently.
gen 7 soft reset are may favorite hunts. They are so fast compared to switch and oras. Plus all legendarys 1-6 and ultrabeasts are huntable in these games which are awesome

I've currently 7 1/2 hours into a Shiny Guzzlord hunt, and thats shiny charm odds (encounters per minute x 60 x hours spent is how i know how im about to say is true. Also i use 3.4 as encounters per minute) im over odds. It kinda sucks, but at some point it'll shine, and Taki the Shiny Guzzlord will be mine. Also I'm nicknaming it Taki because I already have a Shiny Guzzlord named Cheeto in Shield. Gotta chnage what chips its named after-

This is making me want to go back to hunting for a shiny in Dark Cave in Crystal VC. Easily reached 80+ hours with sweet scent making encounters around 15-20s, and was mainly wanting to get a shiny teddiursa (which is 5% in the morning) or the 1% Dunsparce, although I'm not getting it lol. Even prepped with a level ball.

I had the same experience you did with Dialga, but with Chimchar instead. I wanted a female Chimchar to replicate how my first ever playthrough of Diamond was. A few resets in, and my Chimchar was pink and a female

I dont understand any of the hate for any generations, regions, or the like. No matter what, people hate change, but then warm up to it because, guess what? Its always Pokemon. Its always fun. Its always exciting.
I’m glad you brought this up. Even though I have a "least favorite generation", that doesn't mean I hate it by any means. It's Pokémon at the end of the day and I’m gonna enjoy the games no matter what. Everyone has preferences over other things but that doesn't mean that the other thing is awful or anything. That's why I just don’t get people who hate on other for liking something else, I just don't get it.

I also believe the gen 7 games are gona get a lot of love in the future but sadly the cutscenes do take away a bit of the replayability

I love the way shinyhunting is, where even before thinking of content the first instinct is to record and gush. Same here. And the Ultra Beast video idea is great! But honestly that's a lot of shiny legendaries for one video. I think it'd be beter for it to be a series kinda like the hinted one. Whatever you think is best though.
And oh boy I've gone deeper into hunting in the past months! I now have 4 copies of gen 5 (2 japanese) and will be doing a DTQ. Hopefully you upload a few more videos before I can finish though!

Understandable. If it makes you feel any better I am at 20.5k eggs on a Leafgreen Farfetch’d egg hunt. Each batch of 50 takes 3 hours minimum, so I’ve spent over 1000+hrs over the last 10 months on my one system hunt.

Oh, this reminds me of a hunt I finished/reclaimed a couple weeks ago! (This comment ended up being quite long, even after cutting it down a bit. sorry about that lol)
A few years ago when I was first getting into shiny hunting, I decided to look for a shiny Zekrom. It was my first soft reset hunt and I didn't have the shiny charm, so I figured it would take me a while, and that it did. After ~12,000 SRs I found it. I wanted to catch it in a dusk ball, but had a master ball as a backup. I counted the number of turns I had before it would use struggle and take itself out, but was one turn off and it struggled to death. That demotivated me, and I gave up for a while. Even worse, before I could get back to it, I lost most of my Pokemon games, including Ultra Moon. I didn't think I'd ever be able to reclaim it, until a few months ago, when I got another copy of the game. I was mostly playing through it to shiny hunt, but I really enjoyed the game (despite this being my third time playing through USUM, it was still fun) and now I think Alola is my second favorite region (after Unova). Anyways, once I finished the main story and got the shiny charm, I immediately started looking for Zekrom again. I was very focused on this hunt and after just 2 days and 1081 SRs, I found it! Between the first Zekrom hunt and now I had found a few other shiny legendaries in Ultra Sun, so I was better prepared to catch it. I still expected it would take some time to catch, but I got it on the second dusk ball... much better than last time! I nicknamed it Gekigami to go with my Kyurem and Reshiram (Itegami and Yomigami, respectively, all named after characters in Okami). It felt great being able to wrap that up after a few years.
Also, I'm a really big fan of the Ultra Beasts as well! Guzzlord has been my absolute favorite Pokemon pretty much since Sun and Moon's release, and I've grown very sentimentally attached to it. I shiny hunted one of them, and that ended up being its own story (to put it shortly, I failed twice before getting one). My current pfp is actually the shiny Guzzlord I found, named Satellite :)

i had a memory with ultra forest too. this fella was growing on me and i loved the shiny since the datamines came out. after taking care of blacephalon which took a day at most, i flew to ultra forest.
it was a saturday night, almost 1 am. tired, watching funny vids on youtube while soft reseting for a funny origami lad. i wasnt paying full attention but i actually soft reset over a shiny one due to me being sleepy :,) i had to spend another week to get it and i think i either passed odds or almost did (the non shiny charm ones) it. im a shiny hunter who is stubborn but i never count my ecounters so
but it was so worth it that i love seeing this goober in my team. i wish i could bring it to paldea but alas, its vibing in galar rn
buzzwole took double of full odds but it wasnt as painful due to me not failing one

That's awesome! Lucky the game give you a Master Ball because what I left out of that story was that I used up every single ball in my bag to no avail so I was forced to Master Ball it 😂

The ultra beast look pretty cool, and ALL of them have incredible shinies! My only complaint is that Xuritree is kinda... lacking? Its design is definitely my least favorite and it has the worst shiny out of all of them (however its still a decent shiny), Either way, 13000 SR is insane! Its amazing you found it! How are you able to identify the exact amount of resets you’ve done? Did you have to count 1 by 1, or did you have some sort of ‘reset counter’ which checks the amount of resets you’ve done. If so, how do I get one? I about to restart my shiny latios hunt from omega ruby which I started years ago. I wanna have some sort of reset counter so that I don’t have to count manually
Yes! I use a shiny counter. I use an app called Pokétch (I think I put the link to it in the description?). I highly recommend it!

i remember dialga was my first shiny in bdsp. that’s when my obsession with shinies began cause i failed it once to stick drift by accidentally running away but a couple weeks later on my birthday i got it which was cool

I had a similar experience back with my run of ultra sun. I tried hunting for a shiny Xurketree, but gave up after like a month of hunting. Got the dude in S/S with the DLC, and honestly their walking animation is worth the wait. Wish you some more luck in future shiny hunts!

Don’t worry about it. As soon as I was able I shiny hunted a type null as soon as I was able in usum. It lasted until March of 2020 right before Covid and I’d never been as excited in my entire life

God I miss ultra beasts. Imagine how fun that must be for character designers. How do you make a pokemon that DOESN'T look like a pokemon? Such a fascinating concept.
Ubs are some of my favorites as well. The designs are very unique and i was lucky enough to get my favorite one Guzzlord in less then a week with shiny charm. Pretty nice to see that other people like them aswell. Keep up the content btw its really good and u definitely deserve more subs.
