I think its important to mention this little thing.
Tl;dr: Alex created a whole new build for a gaming channel instead of coding important things.
Long ass version:
KubzScouts who I like to watch makes up these fun little myths and challenges in Yandere Simulator from time to time if there's an update. He actually makes the game entertaining to watch. There was this challenge he made for himself called the "Alphabet Killer Challenge" if I remember correctly. Basically you kill all npcs in alphabetical order based off their names. Jay completed it some years ago because it was much easier without the hall monitors other gimmicks etc..
Alex knows KubzScouts and watches him and his YanSim vids if he uploads them. He noticed after 2 videos the tuber did, the challenge was near impossible. So, what did Alex do after watching? The man sat there, at his computer and CODED A WHOLE NEW BUILD for this guy to complete the challenge. He did this instead of completing Osana. This man coded this whole new build for a challenge everyone would forget about or probably don't even know exists. Jay completed the challenge after a couple of videos and has since went back to playing other games.
I know what RUclipsr you're talking about and he actually did finish the challenge, lol. Your point is very valid tho
You can say it’s jay
wajmgirl Or That Dude
Jay's the only person that makes yandere simulator enjoyable, I think he's the only reason people still like the game.
Jay's the only person yandev cares bout if Jay says something bad yandev would cry and change the whole game
The game won't make "progress" until alex is low on patreon supporters and when he makes progress the patreon supporters will go up and he will stop making progress its an endless cycle
I saw his patreons at about 700 and more which gave him about 2.5k.
Recently looked again, now its under 700 patreons and under 2,000$.
Hoping it just plummets to 0 to be honest.
Or he'll quit when patreon plummets. At one point I don't think his "progress" would be enough to keep people's interest.
@@hannie.haneul he also can't code well which impedes his progress. And he added easyer eggs which means they could mess up things when he tries to add main elements. Oh and the main elements aren't his!
He's said himself that if he is payed anything less than 1k a month that he'll be looking for a job to support himself, which is going to give him a new excuse as to why the game is being updated slowly and the updates are inconsequential, and then that excuse will turn into gas lighting and manipulation power for him to use against his fans.
ADD? procrastination of; it only matters if life or death. Or a hyperfixation
I actually really like the game. The various method of attack. The school life. The fleshed out characters. The stylish animations. The amazing soundtrack. The gorgeous graphics. Anyway, that's why I believe Persona 5 Royal is such a good game.
Had me in the first half there
I feel the same way. The execution methods, the edge-of-the-seat stealth, the realistic graphics, and the cold character who doesn't care about anybody in their way of their main objective. Anyway, that's why I love Hitman.

Technically Alex doesnt own any of the character models so theoretically someone can completely steal his idea, use the same models, finish the game before he does, and take all the credit for it. With that in mind, all of the progress that Alex has made within the past 7 years has been essentially pointless as it could all go away so easily.
he owns the concept, but not the models
honestly all he has to do is not be shitty to the artists that make stuff for him and give proper credit and change the models to something unique... placeholders are fine when the game is being developed but by the looks of things it feels like Alex *wants* the finished product to use the same models... which is a big yikes
All of the Main Character models he used actually come from a free game. He just took the models and is cashing on it while it was originally free.
@@Gazing-09 I think that's a big problem honestly... if the original creator made those for free and not for commercial use he can get sued, of it goes against the og creator's tos

watashi no mono is everything yandere simulator wishes it could be
Honestly He Should Add Oka Back In And Kept Kokona A Rival So Then There Would Be 2 Rivals Already

There is another project like watashi no mono and it's on the right track! Its called Academy D'amour and they have a team that's working on it. Heres main developers channel: ruclips.net/channel/UCEBspe5sU9p1MV2-_AfR3bA
You know that Japanese baseball game that made up random “American” sounding names? This must be what Japanese people feel like reading whatever Alex came up with.
OOH THAT'S A BASEBALL!
Japan has many more interesting games to play I doubt anyone would touch yansim even if it was translated lol.
I believe for them it must be even weirder - the names in that baseball game at least are something original and not just names 'created' using Google translator.
One of the characters in Alex's game is literally named "loanshark daughter". And don't even get me started on "Mai waifu".
The game, if competently made, could have been a parody game of what obsessed weeaboos think Japan is like - everyone acts like an anime character, the names aren't remotely legitimate, the weird obsession with women's underwear, the 'sweet but psycho I'm not like other girls' main protagonist - all that sort of encompasses the stereotypes surrounding weebs and their ideals. I think it could have been quite funny - it's kinda sad that it's supposed to be a serious game by some out of touch man in his thirties.
Lobelia Owl Yeah like the student council is named after the color of their hair. I think one art club girl is named "Paintbrush" at least the Japanese guys for that baseball game tried

There's a character who's supposed to be named Nurse Nurse, and in japanese nurse is narsu, but yanderedev spelled it as na-su, which translates to eggplant. There's a character in the game that's named Eggplant Nurse.
Idk if anyone has mentioned this here yet but, switch cases also don't require constant calculations.
Just as some pseudo code
If else's have to check the logic (calculate the condition) then see if it applies.
If(personality == lazy) {
Do some stuff
} Else {
Do some stuff
}
More branches means it needs to analyze each branch
Switch cases are simpler and compare without always needing to check conditions. So if the if else trees are checking simple things, they're far better to use
switch(personality): {
case lazy:
Do some stuff
case other:
Do other stuff
}
Etc etc
He also just, has no knowledge of basic loops that can condense like, up to 30+ lines of his code into like... 5
He probably watched a minecraft command block tutorial
I remember hearing that basically all the character code is the same for each character. So its basically just running else ifs constantly. No wonder the framerate is crap
@@starsymcdoodle6965 I've seen the decompiled code that was leaked a few days ago, he really just copy pastes the code every time he adds a new feature that doesn't need completely new code
So each block of like 2k?, probably more at this point, is duped constantly and being run constantly.
His student file alone has over 17k lines of code, all with huge blocks of else ifs constantly checking each else if calculation every second.
If what I heard about how the code is run every 16ms is true, over a million lines of code is run... EVERY. SINGLE. SECOND.
Rest in peace potato laptops
@@Citrine He copypastes code? Doesn't he know what a function is?
I love reading these replies and wondering what everyone is talking about
The thing that irks me most about the story is probably yandere-chan's "emotionless" state that Alex just brushes off as her being a "blank slate for the player's interpretation". Like, how does that make sense? We can barely do anything to make her seem like she has a personality besides different elimination methods and her walking style.
Plus the "backstory" behind it is also fucking bullshit. Ignoring the fact it sounds like something out of a hormonal 14 year old emo's diary, it also doesn't make any sense. If it's hereditary then how is no one except that one detective dude suspicious of her family. If her ancestors had the same condition and did the same stuff she does, wouldn't that mean there would be like a repeating event thing where female students suddenly get killed or disappear every 20-30 years. Also, yandere-chan's mom literally just kidnapped her senpai and threatened him so why doesn't yandere-chan just do the same fucking thing.
Besides the wonky backstory, I wish there was more shit we could do to give yandere-chan an actual personality. Maybe if the player does a certain type of elimination method repeatedly yandere-chan acts more expressive as the days go on. For example, if the player uses a brutal elimination method, yandere-chan acts aggressive (not as "unhinged" as her low sanity behavior), or if the player uses a peaceful elimination method like matchmaking or befriending, yandere-chan acts more peppy.
Though this kind of stuff'll probably never be considered in the game since alex barely takes any critique and brushes off any suggestions or requests for the game as "stupid questions" as he jacks off to the idea of murdering the personification of his fans.
her back story was so wack. Like, he basically tried to explain that she's a psychopath with AmA (I think that's the name? of a disorder where people can't feel emotions) but suddenly everything is magically solved once she meets her "senpai" and she goes insane because he's the only one who can make her feel something. IT'S SUCH BULLSHIT, and the fact he just uses mental illness so lightly and to make edgy content and JUSTIFY her actions is so iffy to me because it just feels its his fetish. Playing as the villain is not anything new, but the entire story feels as if its some deep dark desire of his
@@babayaaaaga True, it also puts actual people's disorders in a bad light. It's the same thing as portraying bipolar/schizophrenic people as crazy murderers. He probably googled something hoping to find a mental illness/disorder that just so happens to have the same similarities as yandere-chan's personality and then just stamped it on to her without doing any further research and all the other stuff is just "anime nonsense XD".
Plus I don't think it's far off to think it's his fetish, his previous "game" was almost a death note rip off with a girl who just goes around killing random bad guys so it might be possible.
(And apparently, in the past, he really loved playing fucking r*pepl*y, posted that he fantasized about killing his parents, defended the columbine shooters, and wrote fanfiction about a "happy sex slave" so it's even more likely)
Can you just.... take the game over? Please?

Or how popular and how closely tied hentai is to the same culture? People were freaking out over Hentai Haven being shut down and losing the Loli tag when it went back up.
Like why the hell are people thinking the issue is that there are panty-shots and Yan-chan is in a crappy hentai mobile game?
I love that alex uses wanting to maintain hype for the game as the reason behind so many useless updates, when CupHead was in development for five years and still was a major sucess (not only paying off the hype but also gathering a large fanbase), even tho it only had a few animated trailers and some "making of" videos on yt.

There are many well-known and huge problems that are wrong with both the game and the developer, but one thing I haven't seen mentioned is something that should be a core part of the game due to its premise.
Currently to win Senpai you kill off or disrupt your rivals but you never work to gain Senpais affection. Even if you kill off every girl in the school (without being caught) what does that matter, someone won't like you purely because you are currently the only one available to them. You should be balancing your relationship with your love (getting over your shyness, building up affection or attraction) and removing your rivals either with violence or pacific.
Found myself actually giving a round of applause to that rhyme. Bravo, sir.
We don't clap for rhymes, we finger slap like at poetry night
3D modeler here! The overlapping UVs in cases like 11:15 is actually fine. What's likely happening there is there's a bunch of clumps of hair that all have similar topology and textures, so it's way more efficient to overlap them like that instead of copy pasting the same island over and over and taking up texture space (no idea what's happening to the island on the right though)
HOWEVER, those little creases you can see overlapping in islands like at 10:50 and 11:20 make me cringe out of my skin. Unless those areas are very hard to see on the actual model that aren't worth caring about, they'd look terrible because the texture would unnaturally repeat and/or warp in those areas
HOWEVER AGAIN, overlapping vertices on the model itself is bad. It increases vertex count for no good reason, which impacts performance and can mess up shading among other things, and that's what I think you were getting confused with when you said, "You want as little overlap as possible, so your game runs smoother." Overlapping UVs: Ok in specific scenarios. Overlapping verts: I can't think of a case where this would be necessary
That all being said, I'm by no means defending Yandev. If you ask me, the dude's a detriment to humanity, and so much about the models makes me want to throw my computer out my window, I just wanted to clarify that bit of information. Also I'm never going to stop laughing at the 5,600 poly toothbrush. Absolutely blows my mind

Alex: Is that even C#?.
Maybe this is a little evil of me, but seeing Yandere Sim's development (or lack thereof) makes me a little more hopeful about the development of my own game. Yandere Dev is genuinely such a helpful model of what not to do.
Yandere Dev's naming sense reminds me of a creative writing class I took as a freshman in high school where one of my classmates named her character Justin Tachibana
Atlαѕ- Z urk
Seeing his code made me realize why my professors would make sure we optimize our code even when it's a dumb small program so we won't pick up bad habits that stick and be as dumb as yanderedev
Sooo another thing,
There's this RUclipsr KubzScouts (great guy) who did like an alphabet killer challenge, where he essentially killed every person in alphabetical order.
It was v difficult and he gave up.
But here's the kicker.
There have been NUMEROUS updates for this dumb challenge, and they came out pretty fast after each video of him trying to beat it again
It just goes to show that wittle old yawndere dew will only listen to youtwubers who are still pwaying his "game", and not add anything of value.
@@maximedemersboucher9060 We are the consumers, we have the right to demand anything that Alex promised, because many other popular indie games like FNAF or Undertale all have good, passionate developers who actually cared about their game and know how to do it. Yandere Simulator on the other hand, although being as popular as these games is far from professionalism or any contribution from Alex and his volunteers at all as time went on despite fans contribute so much for his game and make it really popular, Alex has yet did anything to make their fans satisfied, and as they can't see any real progress, they become "gremlins" all because their lord god "DevPai" is always streaming and looking at boobies everyday.
maxime demers boucher but the fans made it popular and made him money to continue working on the game and yet nothing has delivered to any of these people who contributed to him, does he even deserved the money and fame that the fans give to him anyway?
maxime demers boucher but they have real story, gameplay mechanic and the devs have put lots of attention and care to the game, not only that, they do it all alone or some few people in development without volunteer. Yandere Simulator on the other hand, is a dumpster fire mess that no one wants to work with, even some volunteers have spoken their experience on how terrible Alex is, some has their work stolen and not even credited in the game on behalf of Alex and his shitty fanbase.
maxime demers boucher the whole game is made out of paid Unity assets and its AI are shite and unnatural, its art and looks maybe appeal to kids like you, but for me looking this now than a few years ago have very different opinions, the more mature you are the more you realize the game looks terrible, it makes Alex and his volunteer team effort are almost to none unlike the other games which has its different charm and feel into it and makes all of them special in every way, not only just AI because some of these game doesn't need it, Yandere Simulator, on the other hand have graphic comparable to badly made Unity games on Android, not to mention its optimization is questionable at best, with some really good PC that can play any triple A games and indie games with amazing graphics easily with more than 60 FPS, when play Yandere Simulator, it's hardly even managed to get to 60 FPS if not really play it well. I dare to say if this game is gonna be released people will complain how badly the game optimized for their computer even if the game is already in development for 6 years and yet Alex has managed to fix the FPS problem.
Alright, that doesn't make sense, at all.
First of all, comparing games of different styles is pointless but to assess it anyways: they are by no strech of the imagination "simple games", especially something like undertale where your previous playthrough affects the next, there's original music, artwork, lots of dialogue (like, a lot, story writing needs lots of care put into it), a unique fighting system and all. Not a simple game at all.
Fnaf? Maybe not interesting to most (including me), but how many games does it already have? In what small time frame? They may be "simpler" than what yansim is planning to be, but by god the amount of games already released make yandev look like a joke.
And most importantly, PEOPLE PAY HIM. People wouldn't be as upset if money wasn't involved. You see, people essentially "invest" into yansim to see it get finished. What yandev is doing is basically a scam. It's kind of like a kickstarter but it's harder to, perhaps, sue him over empty promises.
His excuses are dumb, he acts like a little child when people try to help him because it's not exactly what he wants, and honestly, after following yansim for sooo long, eating up his lies and excuses and all, I'm done with him and the game.
For the record, I have nothing against KubzScouts, I like his content and he can believe or support whatever the fuck he wants. My point was; yandev would rather listen to youtubers who are playing his game on what to do (adding pointless features) rather than the people PAYING him every month for the game. (as a former avid watcher, I remember that money to keep developing was a concern of his. Well, you've got the money, more than people wish they could make, so put out!!)
I'm sure you are younger, so I hope you look into it yourself and stop being blinded by his antics. This is in no way meant to insult you. Hey, I'm just trying to point out the fundamental flaws in this fiasco and if u decide to keep supporting him, go off I guess.

What a coincidence I was watching yandere sim criticism videos before I got the notif for this lmao !!
Same actually
Dude really wants Anime the Video Game because it isn't america, it certainly isn't Japan because god dang it just sucks. The lack of respect of names, the lack of respect of lgbt+, and lack of respect of fan base and games in general just make it suck because man a game making fun of anime would fun as all hell. But no, we got a man child as a developer who rather make fun little game modes than the main point of his game is amazing.
The modders are making a better game than him and certainly finished it because no joke, I have played a completed version of Yandere Simulator 1980's mode and it actually better run on my computer and had fun playing it, (even you were heavily sticked to one path and such) than Alex's game.
@Descartes' Apparition Oh no that's not a problem, it's nice to know people who are actually in the industry and knows about coding that is seeing the issue.
And I get the whole authentic doesn't matter, but it's something that is annoying to other people, but lgbt+ thing isn't just because of that, he acts gross about it. Some others and I found that they only reason he let your target to be a female is because someone offered him money for it and his response was "girl x girl action would be fun" and when asked about transgendered characters he stated that it would hard to have crossdressers with the panty shot mechanic (which is still disgusting), to be fair it was on the four chan days, but my God I am 100% sure he feels the same way.
Also the names are a embarrassing like you said and according to a Japanese person I talked to from another video, seems bit racist and old and why didn't Alex take the other options is beyond anyone.
This whole situation is just gone too far and I hope his supporters just leave for their sake more than mine
@@cookiecat3324 I Don't mean to be nitpicking, but he don't actually allow you to have a Female Target. I hate to admit it but I actually "play" the "game" and while the option is there it is actually unavailable. Meaning that someone paid Alex money just so he would add the option into the "game". And in the end he doesn't even add it in but instead just have the option be there just so when players click on it they can read the message that "this option isn't available yet".

“Theoretically, if I wanted to, I could upload a 20-minute video explaining to my audience of 2.4 million subscribers that tinyBuild has massively screwed me over and that no developer should ever work with them. I've had 15 months to do so, and I haven't done it, because I hate drama." -Alex

I mean, as a writer and an avid manga reader, I’ve noticed names can be pretty important to the story, especially in Japanese media. A name is supposed to be a part of the character, something that describes them, or at least a part of them. In a lot of manga I’ve read, names usually have something to do with the character, whether it’s:
- Their status in the family (Yoichi Miyazawa (a Japanese politician)’s first name means “first son”, implying he’s either the eldest son in his family or the only son in the family)
- An important character trait (Katsuki Bakugou (a character in BNHA that has explosion powers and hates losing)’s name, in Japanese, contains the kanji for “powerful bomb (Bakugo)” and “to win”)
- Their role in the story (In ATLA, the baby that provides Aang with renewed hope after losing Appa is literally named “Hope”)
- Or who they are in the eyes of their parents/family (My name, Elizabeth, comes from Hebrew meaning “Miracle/Gift from God”)
Names tell a very important part in a story. Now, to just get it through Alex’s thick skull….
