Honestly, what SSO used to be was a mystery-fantasy with a touch of horror. Now the game just feels hollow in a way, even with new main story quests, they completely lost the old vibe, aesthetic, and the track of the original plot. Even with Devil’s Gap. That place used to be extremely mysterious, disturbing and unsettling. They created the area, but changed it completely. It’s like a pretty little fantasy hollow. It was supposed to be a truly scary place.
Oh how I wish I played during the og days, when the game was a little less child-friendly regarding the sound effects, graphics and storyline. From the looks of it, Star stable truly used to be a horror game.
I hope that one day you will be able to experience the original Star Stable as well. ♡ I also hope Star Stable will begin to reintroduce some of the creepy elements of the game, I would very much appreciate that! :') ♡ Thank you so much for your comment!
For me, the Unfortunate Dews' Farm was a very scary place when I was a kid. I remember discovering the empty stalls and feeling goosebumps because of it.
OMG I'm so glad you said this!! The music that plays once you enter the Unfortunate Dew's Farm is what gets me the most, it is sooo creepy but suits the environment so well. Forgotten Fields is still my favorite place in the game for this reason!! ♡ Thank you so much for your comment :)
The message with the "Dusk is coming, the night is closing in" scares me to this day, it does sound threathing to this day to me. Or the dangerous fall neigh, the only reason I play star stable at mute. The whole game this scares me to this day and still gives me chills.
I miss the creepy vibes, the liminal feeling of the old locations, the sounds, the graphics. The unsettling nature of the old sso is what Intrigued me so much as a kid. I hope that somehow there could be a way to play the old version, with all the old sounds, etc. I wonder if it’s possible to create an sso private server, like how people did with club penguin or toon town
I know right!! Me and my friends would always joke around saying that Alicia Online has better galloping sound effects than SSO, but now I really miss them ;_; I miss when they were really exaggerated too, like in early 2012-2013 when the hoof beats were SUPER loud in your ear xD Thank you so much for your comment!! ♡
The thing i'm most salty about regarding the 'new' sso, is that they somehow thought it necessary to completely change their target audience from teens and adults who literally grew up with the game, ergo having helped the game itself grow in popularity and quality, to now target a whole new demographic without even caring about already existing players. I get that change is inevitable, but suddenly changing the vibe and lore of the game which made the game so special with it's mysteriousness and eerieness, to a full-on 24/7 jojo siwa fantasy land was just completely unnecessary. Especially since we as kids who played the game loved it BECAUSE of how it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows and riding around merrily, but also from how relatively dark and engaging the lore was. They literally just threw their whole vibe out the window and felt that children suddenly are allergic to semi-horror/horror simply for being younger than the older players. I'll never stop being confused by their sudden switch up that gave the game such soul which we all loved and it really is sad.
Yes, it was indeed scary, but boy how much do I miss this :( I was so excited to log on every day and just play for hours. Now I haven't even played for the past 3-4 years. I honestly think even though the graphics weren't "realistic" I prefered them over the current cartoony children's game. It really lost it's charm. (My only hope is to find a copy of Spring/Summer/Autumn/Winter Riders and play those games.) Yes, times change, but this is really the only thing that shouldn't have taken a turn to where it is now. This is my personal opinion of course. The scariest things were for me was Linda crying at night, (At the time, I had no clue who it was actually since I stumbled upon it without starting (or reading) the quest.), the falling message, and nighttime. Usually, the quieter the game was or the more I heard unexplainable sound effects and noises, the more eerie it was for me.
i remember the first time i played sso i was really young and as i was running around i fell off a cliff. the sound of my horse falling and the flash of red on the screen freaked me out so much i stayed in the stables whenever i played for like a week!!
GOSHHH IKR omg... I wonder if the team ever realized that some of these elements were really scary for the younger audience! xD Thank you so much for your lovely comment!! ♡
YESSS Omg SSO always did Halloween right, I truly miss when it wasn't all about Galloper's Keep and rather getting all the communities of Jorvik together to celebrate the holiday. Including the smugglers in Goldenhills Valley when they found the creepy girl in the woods xD Thank you so much for your comment!! ♡
As someone who grew up with the CD-ROM Seasonal Riders trilogy rather than SSO, many of these horror elements are actually carried over from those games (considering they acted as beta tests) Wandering around SSO at night sounds scary enough, but imagine doing it in single-player where your only source of other living beings are your horse and motionless NPCs. The "night falls" message appears once sunset comes, but appears again urgently instructing you to save the game. Once that happens, all of the NPCs vanish into thin air, like ghosts. All of your quests disappear off the map, and you're left alone... just you and your horse. It gets so dark you can barely see where you're riding, which is worse if you're in a dense forest. The NPCs/quests reappear once dawn breaks, but regardless... staying up an entire night COMPLETELY ALONE is terrifying, but so mysterious and fun! Oh how I wish I had played classic SSO, but I'm so thankful you and other RUclipsrs can share its mystic and wonder with us all. Thank you!
personally, as chilling as the sounds heard in forests etc. are for such young children, there was something so comforting about it. i hate how much sso has taken out of the game so far - it feels so unfun and lacks what we deemed why i even played. i miss 2016 sso
oh my gosh me too ;( Reminiscing on these elements of old SSO made me realize how much I miss it, I hope Star Stable can tap back into their creepy side in the future. Thank you so much for watching the documentary, I could not create content without your support!! :3 ♡
HAHAHA Aww I'm sorry to have scared you!! But this is lowkey such a huge compliment because I was trying to make this video as eerie as possible LOL So thank you so much for your amazing comment. :3 ♡
I remember the creeps little me got when it became dark, you’ve heard all those scary stories about what happend at night in jorvik. It gave me the chills back then, i would do so much to just get that feeling again
im so glad i got to experience these when i was little, but i didnt get enough of them and now im left with crazy nostalgia, curiosity and missing old sso
i remember how there used to be a hp for us and our horse. if we fell to many times, we could actually die and get transported to the stable with the information about our "death". i think what also scared me is some characters moving to us while we passed them (their bodies didnt move naturally just turned to our direction) or our character always following the camera with its eyes. everyone waas soglad when sso fixed that, but to this day i wonder why they even made it like this in the first place. also i remember the halloween ride in the castle. what great memories.
i just want to be a kid again. sitting in a tiny apartment waiting for my moms overheated outdated laptop to load up 2013 star stable. i was heartbroken the other day, logging into SSO for the first time in 4 years (macbook broke and my mothers computer didn’t have storage) because they have an app now… i didn’t know they changed the basically the entire game. my character didn’t even look like herself. the one i grew up playing, the one i loved. i don’t think i can even play now, it makes me too sad. it might seem overdramatic, but growing up this game was my pride and joy, it was all i had. there’s just too many special memories connected to the old game. it hurts too much to play what feels like a spinoff of the 2013 version i adored.
For me the scariest SSO moment is the area that I think got replaced by the light ride? You climbed up a hill to a foggy area with a dried up tree and a wolf walking around it
star stable seems like such a sweet game but as a young kid this game TERRIFIED me like that dusk is coming message made me not play star stable at night for years like why did they add that?! I love that I was never really scared of the things that were supposed to be scary but that message sent me over the edge. Amazing video!
OMG I know right? Such an odd detail to add to the game, but overall has become VERY iconic! I have to admit, it caught me off guard when I first experienced that message! It may be because of the way they phrased it, as if something was coming to get me! It didn't help that it also seemed like it was speaking to us DIRECTLY! Thank you so much for this relatable comment :3 ♡ I love hearing your thoughts!
@@helIokitti Well thanks for responding I've been watching all of ur docs and they are all so good! I feel like there is so much to talk about when it comes to star stable and I've been looking for videos like yours on this game so I'm excited for more and thank you for making these.
OMG The stakes were so high!! It's insane, for what little resources the team had back then... they made one of the most immersive and compelling questlines ever with the Dark Core mission. I STILL get goosebumps when replaying that quest, it's so good!! xD ♡ Thank you so much for your lovely comment!
That’s exactly what the original Starshine Legacy series was like too :c It took its audience seriously and respected its ability to handle a less than sugary plot, and those were games for kids.
Oh old sso at night, the sounds made it a bit creepy, loved it ❤ Nowadays we can change the daylight in sso which is so convenient, but back then we couldn't. If you logged on late and you still had to do your quests, you had no choice but to play them at nighttime in game. Oh I wish we got that feature earlier. I always missed the gorgeous purple morning skies in sso, never been a morning person. There is also 1 other thing which is still going on. The 'fridge doors' or light music. I always avoid them because I don't want that music to play all the time. It gives such a dark creepy feeling about the omnious things going on beneath the surface. Also another place that still is scary at night is in dino valley. Further into the valley on the right side of the road towards the forest. The music that plays there makes it feel really spooky. I don't like to spend to much time there at night the vibe is off.
Though it was freely and some times scared the crap out of the little child I used to be when I played during this era of the game, and I am grateful for the fact that I was able to play during those days, and I truly has broadened my view on how much the game has progressed. Though I miss the old game, I without a doubt enjoy the modernize game
8:08 Yeah, there was an urban legend in the Hungarian community around 2013-14-ish that if you are outside of stables and towns after this message shows up, the Dark Rider will come to kidnap your horse (:
I miss the old loading screen and the things they’ve changed. Like don’t get me wrong, I don’t dislike Steve’s farm and silverglade village now, but I just miss how it used to be. It’s probably just nostalgia and the fact I hadn’t played in a long time and then immediately was introduced to a lot of changes. I might try to get somewhat back into the story stuff again soon Edit: I even used my in game name on star stable for a lot of other things if it let me use it, like right here
I love that they are highlighting their very talented concept artists at Star Stable HQ, but I really wish they found away to incorporate Rufus into every drawing as well. Not to mention the loading screen tips, I barely ever read them because they're so small and not highlighted at all. T_T On the topic, I also wish they would've kept the old Silverglade soundtrack! That's totally relatable too, I used my first SSO name when signing up for everything! xD Thank you so much for your comment!! ♡
What made it more scary for me was the old graphics and textures. Some of the characters looked so botched or scary too. Also the (idk what it’s called? The bloom?) blurry filter over the game.
OMG You're so right, all of those areas have such an eerie feeling about them!! My biggest mistake is visiting those places at night... I can never fall asleep after that >_< Thank you so much for your comment!! ♡
I think it would be really great if the team added in some halloween quests outside of gallopers keep around halloween. something like with the weird girl in goldenhills forest. it would make the holiday creepier for me at least because when everything supernatural and scary is sectioned off in this temporary area or place that dissapears after halloween and isnt connected to jorvik almost at all, it just doesnt feel as scary as when something strange, eerie and sinister is happening right there in jorvik in familiar areas thought to be safe and normal, you know? sorry if this is totally too long or hard to understand haha
I was horrified by the old cemetery, but now its gone so :D And now I'm still scared by all the G.E.D places SSO is still kinda scary, not as much as it was, but I'm glad that this atmosphere is still there.
I remember when I first played the game, I wouldn’t play the game unless I had my mom in the same room 😂 I used to get scared from the noises, I still do sometimes
I remember when I was a starter being so scared and curious because of linda crying, I begged my sister to tell me what happened, oh how glad I was when I finally found out what happened 😂 But I think the mistfall “screams” scared me the most. And let’s not forget about those white door things one the ground! I really miss the old starstabel atmosphere.
as a new player, many of these features are still in the game - maybe slightly altered, but still there. i stand by the statement that star stable is lowkey a horror game, especially the main storyline (the saving anne questline was horrifying, it freaked me out so much), and i'm saying that as a 24yr old 😭 honestly idk why they call it a kids' game, some of the quests are surprisingly hard to complete, too
I have to disagree, the gameplay has no challenge to it if you're even moderately proficient with a mouse and keyboard. I can see the case being made for mobile but it's not due to creative quest design but due to their awful control optimisation. As for the elements, sure they are technically there, but the bright graphics and the replacements of old soundtracks removes the charm imo.
Aww stop it!! This is so kind, thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to leave this comment. ♡ I am so glad that this video introduced some new spooky stories for you :D ♡
I always was scared of THIS glue man song on Halloween (2020 year I think...) All event time I ride the same horse bc was too scared to going in stable and change horse or clothes...
omg I remember an old meme on one of those Star Stable Instagram meme pages comparing the severity of the two warning screens LOL Thank you so much for your comment!! ♡
this video reminded me of linda crying in the castle, i remember there was a bug once you were logging into the game you could hear lindas cry, it was really creepy for me back in the old days, especially at night (;
Oh my gosh this is the most thoughtful compliment ever, I am so appreciative of your acknowledgement of my hard work + I absolutely love that you believe I keep the old sso spark alive!! You're so incredibly kind, thank you so much for this comment!! ♡ I could not have done these videos without your generous words :3
The background sounds at 4:48 brought back so many memories! I recently realised that the nostalgic music and background noises are gone, causing it to be less cozy or something in-game
I can't help but point out all the time to myself how much your voice tone is similiar to Hu Tao from Genshin Impact! I really like it, you're really comfortable to listen to. Especially as someone who's been active playing since 2015. This video (just like your other ones) brought me back so much memories. Thank you for uploading
i remember the halloween events in the early days. i started playing at the end of 2012/early 2013 when i was like, 7 years old. i dont know what year it was exactly but one halloween they introduced the quest with the girl in the goldenhills valley forest. that quest was beyond scary and freaked me out as a kid. i deadass was too scared to go down there and do it lmao. nowadays the halloween events are just bland and boring
I was a stupid kid. And I was terrified by Lisa being stuck in that crack and her talking all weird. That whole freaking starshine quest in the forest actually. That was SCARY
Aww, thank you so much!! I am so grateful you took the time out of your day to watch the video!! ♡ And I have to agree, the eerie atmosphere of old Star Stable is what easily made it my favorite game ever!! :D And to answer your question, I get all of my soundtracks directly from the old SSO game data!! This soundtrack in particular is called "Pandorian Bells", I would be more than happy to send it to you via Discord if you would like! ♡♡ My tag is hello.kitti :3 Thank you so much for your comment!!
The freaking mountain area in firgrove with that tree. With those wolves that wouldn't attack you as much. I remember the first time i discovered it, i just decided to climb up a random mountain in firgrove and stumbled on it. I was so freaked out because that twinkle noise music would play and I remember climbing back up there just to scare the crap out of myself. It always took me for ever to get there and now I know I can just go on the trail and cut off at one point and end up there much easier. I haven't been up there since before steve's farm updated though so I probably have no idea how to get up there anymore.
I think that what would represent the best Star Stable's old and mysterious vibes, would be trailer of the game from 12 years ago. I believe the soundtrack speaks for itself.
I love old star stable to death I was obsessed with watching old videos when I was a kid and wasn’t allowed to play sso yet when I was allowed to play sso in 2018 (I was 10at that time) I was so thrilled. Thank you for bringing back some great memories from my childhood 🫶🏻 (side note: I’m so obsessed with the way you talk and your voice (not to sound creepy lmao) I could listen to you for hours on end! xx
I remember being so scared of one of the halloween updates as a kid, i cried so hard and didn’t play till the update was gone 😭 ugh, i miss old sso so much
The Dark Core questline still scares me.I only did it a few months ago-trust me,I had to try 3(that's actually how much I tried to escape by logging on)times. And the missing translation on the second try(when I was on my horse)freaked me out.I tried calling for pickup, and the scary message that read 'there's no-one to pick you up now 'scared me even more.I got there in the end,but that was my biggest horror.
Omg! I started playing at about nine years old (2012) and SO MUCH of this was absolutely terrifying to me, ESPECIALLY the night message. I think now the only thing that freaks me out is when I'm grinding archaeology and Igor does his time honks. Thanks for this beautiful documentary, I thought I was the only one who got scared at the message!
I remember I got to Jorvik Stables before Silverglade, because the quest where you have to go through the forest and grab i think a flaming person to get some sort of paper from them, idk, was a long time ago, was too scary to me as a kid. Some friends were having a rp in apple, and I was following them and they found out about it and it was kind of an awkward moment lol.
During past years Halloween quests, the scarecrow race, it would allow me as a non SR to go explore cape west till the timer ran down and I had to restart the race
OMG That means so much to me!! My intention for my videos is always to be something to listen to in the middle of every day productivity :3 ♡ Thank you so much for your kind words!! ♡
For me it was the Scarecrow Hill race for the golden apple and Galloper Thompson while does the trail ride I would gallop the trail ride with a level 11+ horse so I wouldn't run into him, he freaked me out the 2 times I ran into him.
6:02 i remember back then when i was trolling people with a character dressed all in black and some mask on the UFO place, and some girl actually got scared by that once and ran away, it was so funny when i think about it now when i used to troll people like that
I honestly miss these times. SSO had so much character back then, these things are only a small portion of what made it so unique. For me, they kind of ruined SSO now. I just wish they would stick to the good old mysteries. I don't have anything against quality updates etc. but with these graphical updates they downgraded the Mystery that made this game so fun to play in the first place.
i love your videos! i came across your channel just today and i watched about 3 documentaries! keep up the good work! dont ever stop making these! this video was kinda scary.. love it though!
i did the quest to save linda from the castle in like 2014 and i think i was 9 years old and when i heard the crying sounds i FREAKED out. It sounded so scary to me with the old graphics, vibes and it was also in night time.
I never got to play old SSO (and discovering Season Riders helped, but only a little since those games were always offline), but I did play Starshine Legacy, and a part of me feels like the UFO had something to do with Fripp and the ship that was transporting Garnok landing in Jorvik, trapping everyone inside. But, to be honest, it is a bit of a stretch since, you know, it should be resting under the sea. Still, with how often they changed their canon, even that would not be entirely impossible. Either way, it's so much fun to see all of these neat little things that I never got to experience... and to see that back then SSO was not afraid to be as spooky as the original SSL games. Edit: The fall sound effect did catch me off guard in Season Riders, though, that's for sure. I got used to it eventually, but the first time? Oh dear.
9:01 I remember the countless times I accidentally missed a jump in the game, and this message came to jumpscare me. I was already aware of it, but it always scared me in the end.
oh where do i start... well yeah, i started playing in 2018, but i did feel the scary vibes!! the graphics were still the older ones and the quests felt way more mysterious and had a creepy atmosphere. i also played the original game starshine legacy and the older sso felt like exactly that game! however that isn't the case anymore... i don't get these spooky, mysterious vibes anymore when darkcore is being brought up in the quests... i get it, games need to change, but not the change as in completely changing the game if that makes sense? like changing the lore for example?? WHY.??? the lore was THE BEST. i loved the story, god i still do, but it's not the same anymore. i just wish sso would stay with their unique style! like the newer graphics remind me of fortnite and the quests got way too child friendly. yes, ofc it's a children's game, buuuuttt it used to be a kids friendly horror game (ik not really HORROR horror, but spooky enough XD)! why not keep that??? and the newer beginner quests... they are a big no for me. the quest itself is really cool, but i don't think it matches the original lore anymore. arghh i want to say so much, but i don't really know what to say. i also don't want to ride a 453 pages book, since nobody is going to read all that anyway. 😭 i just want someone to understand me and i know i found my ppl here :D btw, sorry for my wonderful english (not sure if the commas were correct, i'm still learning. 😭) and ty if you've read this far! 🫶🏻 :3
Omg do u remember the overnight quest with Linda in the Silverglade library. I used to stay up all night thinking about what was to come in the next part of the quest. Also I love ur videos
Aww, that's adorable!! You have not lived if you haven't spent a sleepless night wondering what's going to happen next in a SSO story quest! xD The old storyline is pure gold, thank you so much for your kind words!! ♡
I think the night message is from Barbie Horse Adventures, that gave is very similar to OG sso. The night message would flash then you’d be teleported home.
SSO really used to feel so much more ominous and mysterious. I’m sure that isn’t only because I was a lot younger when I played it for the first time. 😅
OMG It was a buried memory for me!! It is referenced a few times in the Haunted Trail Ride too, making me think 100% that it is not the sound of an animal but rather the girl haunting the woods at night... I mean, why else would SSO bring it up so much? :o Thank you so much for your comment! ♡
OMG Ever since I started uploading videos with my voice in them, I've been so interested to hear who my voice doppelganger is! LOL This is a huge compliment because I love Stephanie so much!! ♡
We do know about where the UFO came from! !!Major story spoilers ahead!! We learn from Frip (pretty sure it was him who told us, but it’s been awhile since I did these quests) that the UFO was transporting Garnok, as well as some horselike aliens who were keeping watch over him. I forgot if the reason for them crashing was explained, but I think Garnok was the only one who survived. Some other spooky things I’ve discovered in my many years of playing SSO: - The doors (don’t know what their actual name is) - there’s one by the road from moorland to fort pinta after you pass the wall by jaspers house. It’s in the field to the right. There’s more of them, 5 total, I just have that specific one’s location memorized. They glow at night and have really creepy sound effects that play when you get close. If you connect them all on the map, it forms a star shape. - Nic’s fridge - why does it float- why is it chained up- why does it emit weird particles- why does this random explorer carry a fridge around- I know in recent quests we got some explanation for it, but I honestly don’t remember all of it. - THE SHADOW SEEKERS??? HELLO??? - Guardians Dale aka my favorite in-game location - We finally got introduced to it in the story, but I still have so many questions. Why is the 5th statue broken? Is that supposed to be OUR horse? Etc. If you read all of this, I hope you enjoyed my rambling. I’ve played SSO since it first came out and have done many deep dives into the games lore.
oh my, that explanation is so good! it complements the little storyboard drawings, glowing on the wall we got to see in Starshine Legacy's third episode, on our journey in Pandoria, i believe! illustrating what happened before it arrived on Jorvik.
Unpopular opinion but I think it was child friendly when it was released, I remember we grew up with things less soft and sugar coated than the current generation, our parents always told us scary tales and these things didn't scare us, lot of us loved creepy stuff ( I didn't say gore, I said creepy). Small reminder than our cartoons were also a bit darker, same with the free flash games you could find everywhere on internet. SSO for lot of us wasn't seen as scary, it was a perfect game for kids AND adults while now... It's only for pre school kids.
YEEES omg now you can walk in n out of it like it‘s nothing
no fr, it gives no devil vibes
Oh how I wish I played during the og days, when the game was a little less child-friendly regarding the sound effects, graphics and storyline. From the looks of it, Star stable truly used to be a horror game.
I hope that one day you will be able to experience the original Star Stable as well. ♡ I also hope Star Stable will begin to reintroduce some of the creepy elements of the game, I would very much appreciate that! :') ♡ Thank you so much for your comment!

As someone who grew up with the CD-ROM Seasonal Riders trilogy rather than SSO, many of these horror elements are actually carried over from those games (considering they acted as beta tests)
Wandering around SSO at night sounds scary enough, but imagine doing it in single-player where your only source of other living beings are your horse and motionless NPCs.
The quests on the oil rig always freaked me out. I think it was mostly just the fear of being caught.
God I miss the old vibe so much :( This video gave me much nostalgia, thank you so much!
oh my gosh me too ;( Reminiscing on these elements of old SSO made me realize how much I miss it, I hope Star Stable can tap back into their creepy side in the future. Thank you so much for watching the documentary, I could not create content without your support!! :3 ♡
I'm not even a kid, but deciding to watch this at night literally gave me the creeps 😂
HAHAHA Aww I'm sorry to have scared you!! But this is lowkey such a huge compliment because I was trying to make this video as eerie as possible LOL So thank you so much for your amazing comment. :3 ♡
@@helIokitti Welp, you succeeded in making this eerie! 😂
I remember the creeps little me got when it became dark, you’ve heard all those scary stories about what happend at night in jorvik. It gave me the chills back then, i would do so much to just get that feeling again
im so glad i got to experience these when i was little, but i didnt get enough of them and now im left with crazy nostalgia, curiosity and missing old sso
i remember how there used to be a hp for us and our horse. if we fell to many times, we could actually die and get transported to the stable with the information about our "death". i think what also scared me is some characters moving to us while we passed them (their bodies didnt move naturally just turned to our direction) or our character always following the camera with its eyes. everyone waas soglad when sso fixed that, but to this day i wonder why they even made it like this in the first place. also i remember the halloween ride in the castle. what great memories.
i just want to be a kid again.
sitting in a tiny apartment waiting for my moms overheated outdated laptop to load up 2013 star stable.
i was heartbroken the other day, logging into SSO for the first time in 4 years (macbook broke and my mothers computer didn’t have storage) because they have an app now…
i didn’t know they changed the basically the entire game.
my character didn’t even look like herself. the one i grew up playing, the one i loved.
i don’t think i can even play now, it makes me too sad. it might seem overdramatic, but growing up this game was my pride and joy, it was all i had. there’s just too many special memories connected to the old game. it hurts too much to play what feels like a spinoff of the 2013 version i adored.
For me the scariest SSO moment is the area that I think got replaced by the light ride? You climbed up a hill to a foggy area with a dried up tree and a wolf walking around it
Omg yes i completely forgot about that
I actually loved that message and still do with the dusk is coming. It actually made me feel more peaceful
star stable seems like such a sweet game but as a young kid this game TERRIFIED me like that dusk is coming message made me not play star stable at night for years like why did they add that?!
Fun fact: to this day that message is still in the game if you stay up late to see it
Yess so excited to watch this. Can already say 10 years ago i remember my heart beating while playing the missions with dark core 😂
OMG The stakes were so high!! It's insane, for what little resources the team had back then... they made one of the most immersive and compelling questlines ever with the Dark Core mission. I STILL get goosebumps when replaying that quest, it's so good!! xD ♡ Thank you so much for your lovely comment!
at least it was scary, funy and not like it is now, just trying to be cute to dont scare a two-year-old
That’s exactly what the original Starshine Legacy series was like too :c It took its audience seriously and respected its ability to handle a less than sugary plot, and those were games for kids.
I might try to get somewhat back into the story stuff again soon
Edit: I even used my in game name on star stable for a lot of other things if it let me use it, like right here
I love that they are highlighting their very talented concept artists at Star Stable HQ, but I really wish they found away to incorporate Rufus into every drawing as well.
I every time feel scared about empty Dews Farm, Devils Gap and Epona (much on the place when is 4 guardian horses)
I agree!
i wish i played at that time.. i started in 2016 but i was a kid and i dont remember anything..
I was horrified by the old cemetery, but now its gone so :D
And now I'm still scared by all the G.E.D places
SSO is still kinda scary, not as much as it was, but I'm glad that this atmosphere is still there.
As for the elements, sure they are technically there, but the bright graphics and the replacements of old soundtracks removes the charm imo.
kitti never disappoints!! such an amazing video with spooky stories that i hadn't heard of!!
Aww stop it!! This is so kind, thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to leave this comment. ♡ I am so glad that this video introduced some new spooky stories for you :D ♡
I always was scared of THIS glue man song on Halloween (2020 year I think...)
All event time I ride the same horse bc was too scared to going in stable and change horse or clothes...
2:59 it was later than 2018, i believe in at least 2021 or so. i miss the old "minus" as we would call it with my friend lol
omg I remember an old meme on one of those Star Stable Instagram meme pages comparing the severity of the two warning screens LOL Thank you so much for your comment!! ♡
@@helIokitti yeah i think i know what you mean haha
this video reminded me of linda crying in the castle, i remember there was a bug once you were logging into the game you could hear lindas cry, it was really creepy for me back in the old days, especially at night (;
also we could hear lindas crying while being near to the castle if i remember right
This is funny, I'm a newer player, and i haven't unlocked epona yet. But i glitched into it, and now can take the trailer to new hillcrest lol
amazing video as always! i love the effort you put behind this, your videos kinda make me feel like old sso isnt fully gone yet :)
The scariest piece of lore in sso has to be snogsorrow. You can hear its call on the haunted trial ride, and it is so creepy!!
Cant wait to see some scary sso content!
I can't wait to show you this documentary!! ♡ I tried to emulate allll the scary vibes of old SSO to the best of my ability! xD
i remember the halloween events in the early days. i started playing at the end of 2012/early 2013 when i was like, 7 years old. i dont know what year it was exactly but one halloween they introduced the quest with the girl in the goldenhills valley forest. that quest was beyond scary and freaked me out as a kid. i deadass was too scared to go down there and do it lmao. nowadays the halloween events are just bland and boring
I miss this game so much, I miss old sso.
as a 2014/2015 player i really miss how hard and scary this game used to be, it rlly had my taste in games.
I was a stupid kid. And I was terrified by Lisa being stuck in that crack and her talking all weird. That whole freaking starshine quest in the forest actually. That was SCARY
The one with the ranger litterly gave me chills!!
I miss the night is closing in message and didnt know it was removed since i usually play at night😭😭
I also thought it was removed but it showed when I was playing yesterday
you have such a soft voice! I love listening to you!!
Aww, you are so kind!! This means so much to me as an aspiring voice actor, thank you for your lovely words!! :D ♡
Amazing video as always, the creepy side of old SSO is always fascinating!
Btw, where did you find the Pandoric cracks soundtrack?
Aww, thank you so much!! I am so grateful you took the time out of your day to watch the video!! ♡ And I have to agree, the eerie atmosphere of old Star Stable is what easily made it my favorite game ever!! :D
And to answer your question, I get all of my soundtracks directly from the old SSO game data!!
Thank you for bringing back some great memories from my childhood 🫶🏻 (side note: I’m so obsessed with the way you talk and your voice (not to sound creepy lmao) I could listen to you for hours on end! xx
I remember being so scared of one of the halloween updates as a kid, i cried so hard and didn’t play till the update was gone 😭 ugh, i miss old sso so much
I’m so so excited!
I am so grateful for your support of my documentaries, thank you so much for taking the time to watch them!! :D ♡
Your Videos are always sooo good, I always Listen to them when I train my horses ^^
Tysm for making such good content!!
OMG That means so much to me!! My intention for my videos is always to be something to listen to in the middle of every day productivity :3 ♡ Thank you so much for your kind words!! ♡
The wolf screen scared me the first time so bad
For me it was the Scarecrow Hill race for the golden apple and Galloper Thompson while does the trail ride I would gallop the trail ride with a level 11+ horse so I wouldn't run into him, he freaked me out the 2 times I ran into him.
6:02 i remember back then when i was trolling people with a character dressed all in black and some mask on the UFO place, and some girl actually got scared by that once and ran away, it was so funny when i think about it now when i used to troll people like that
Yes kids, SSO was not originally a kids game. Kids just latched onto it like they did Poppy Playtime. It ain’t for kids.
I remember everything omg thank you for making these ❤
i did the quest to save linda from the castle in like 2014 and i think i was 9 years old and when i heard the crying sounds i FREAKED out. It sounded so scary to me with the old graphics, vibes and it was also in night time.
Um… all I can say is I’m terrified
I’m so glad I grew up with the old start stable 💪🏽started in 3rd grade I’m now 21
I love your voice! You have a great narration voice!
I am so grateful for your kind words!! Thank you so much for watching my video!! ♡
i remember getting the closed area screen.. it was terrifying and i had actual nightmares because of it (this was in 2019 lol)
Oh dear.
Omg I remember when I got a chatban in my early days. I thought I could never chat again and got jumpscared by the notification
The night message would flash then you’d be teleported home.
your videos are really so well made. The editing is so good and your phrasing is perfect. Thank you for these videos kitty
Ur voice is perfect for this
it adds shivers down our spines
Great video! I was also scared of the caves and Dino valley
SSO really used to feel so much more ominous and mysterious. I’m sure that isn’t only because I was a lot younger when I played it for the first time. 😅
I never knew that about the dundull owl and girl.. what the hell..
OMG It was a buried memory for me!! It is referenced a few times in the Haunted Trail Ride too, making me think 100% that it is not the sound of an animal but rather the girl haunting the woods at night... I mean, why else would SSO bring it up so much? :o Thank you so much for your comment! ♡
I wish there were more videos like this.
the lore was amazing
omg i used to be so scared of the spectators in the circus lolol
I miss all the old sso games
I'm glad I found your channel
I'm so glad you're here ♡ Your support means everything to me!! :3
@@helIokitti you're too cute 🥹💝
I'm watching another video while waiting and I noticed you sound almost exactly like Rotten Mango!
OMG Ever since I started uploading videos with my voice in them, I've been so interested to hear who my voice doppelganger is! LOL This is a huge compliment because I love Stephanie so much!! ♡
im so excited!!!
Your support means the world to me!! ♡ Love you to the moon and back!! :D ♡
In the game your horse still can take damage and be sent back to the stable if falling off a cliff several times, they never removed it! :)
Some other spooky things I’ve discovered in my many years of playing SSO:
- The doors (don’t know what their actual name is) - there’s one by the road from moorland to fort pinta after you pass the wall by jaspers house.
12:17 anyone else notice how that noise is the noise from the packman style ghost game at halloween?
omg yes you’re right!
