I love the real life day to day hunts. The stalks are awesome and the monster Iowa giants marching in at 20 yards but there is just something relatable about those grinder hunts. Cool episode guys!

Can't stop laughing. Never seen a tackle box where the bottom compartment was full of water so your bobbers could all float. Funny how when Ted is with Greg or Warb, it's all business. The best part was Ted shaking when that doe was approaching! But that is what makes us hunters keep getting after the deer! In addition to it puts great wild meat on the table!

SWVA Farmer Last year in MO’s early youth season. My boy and his friend are in a double stand and I am hunkered under a cedar right below them. The texts if they can leave. I’m like it’s your hunt do what you want. As I’m standing up for them to lower their guns a spike walks up. My sons friend smoked him, and we spent the rest of the day processing deer. That was inside 20 yards.

Probably already figured it out but the coil lost tension because handle was gone which is why the cord wouldn’t go back in. Done a few of those in the bush my self haha.

Been there did that as far as the recoil breaking and I did pretty much the same thing you did, needlenose pliers and a essential tool when you own a outboard. Laughing..... I had a doe bust me yesterday, could only get in one tree less than 15 feet up in the open. Great video though I love how you guys show every hunt even if there isn't one put on the ground.

I've been there in so many ways, I can't count how many times I've been walking through the mud and muck and gotten stuck. Lucky for you you had Greg there to help you out most times I'm by myself. I left more than one shoe in the mud when I was a kid. As far as the broken strap on the motor I've been there too there is supposed to be an emergency pull cord on the under side of the hood of the motor especially on a Mercury pull the hood off and turn it over and it should be right there maybe yours didn't have it but mine always have. Before I knew about the emergency pull cord I used about 6 feet of anchor line wrapped around the starting portion of the motor and it worked. Obviously you got out of that predicament but it's something to keep in mind for next time I would definitely check the underside of the hood before you go out again. Good luck I sure love watching your guys's videos!

Question for morning hunts, if you've never been to an area, how do you pick a tree in the dark knowing you will have shooting lanes and such?
Years of trial and error and onx hunt.
The easy way is walk to where you might see a deer and then shine the light up into the trees to see where you can hang a stand and still see that spot. However, this puts your scent on that spot where you hope to see deer. You're just reversing the angle. If you wear rubber boots, approach the spot smartly, don't totally enter spot, etc., then that helps. As time goes on, you become better able to judge without using the trick I just told you about.
Going in to a new area before dark is the hardest thing to do, and most people avoid it. Many people get stressed and then it gets light before they are in the tree set up. If you do this, give yourself 30 minutes more than you think you need.
