Let's recognize the amazingly positive effect Aaron is having on these young men. The dude walked 15 miles in a different state (if I understood correctly), then still did late afternoon hunts with his protege - WHILE NURSING A DARN COLD no less!! Aaron, you're to be commended, and if we had more like you the world would be a better place. THANK YOU.

Gooch is a great addition to THP because he is serious about his deer hunting but, like the gang, he doesn't take himself too seriously! Nice work Gooch and great work Zach, Aaron, Jake, Greg, Myndi, and the whole THP gang for having a great effect on the newbie! Having that gang as your mentors is priceless Gooch. It's so incredibly beneficial to have people who have experience that are supportive to show you the right way.

I also like that he is a relatively new hunter, so he is so eager to learn more. Teaching the younger kids in my hunting group tricks and tips when bowhunting, really is the most enjoyable thing for me, especially when they use that knowledge to harvest a deer!

3 points. 1. I thought Gooch was ducking that jet that flew over. 2. Warb (old Warb) always says "when you hear bluejays fussin you better get ready". 3. I agree. Doe are more readily available, in too big of numbers in many areas and actually taste better than a big old 5 or 6 year old buck. For eating I'll take a doe over a buck any day!
If people understood the dynamics they would take more does. If you get the buck to doe ratio more balanced the rut would be off the chain! No lockdown and each doe can get bred multiple times so we gotta do better taking more does!
@@JeremyReger in Wisconsin for a number of years we had to take a doe in order to get a buck. It was called earn a buck. Hunters ended up not liking it at all and it was eliminated a few years ago but there are still parts of the state where we can get unlimited doe tags and still there are too many does! I shoot for meat, not a rack so I hated the rule myself because it meant if I saw a buck first I had to pass on it!
I have to say this is actually one of my favorite videos from THP and I’ve been watching since you began. Reason being you showcase a hunt from the perspective of a novice hunter, and help guide him to success on his own turf. This video must relate to so many people. Ethan is a genuine person with a passion to learn. His raw excitement was pure awesomeness. The youth are so important to the future of this sport and I hope this video reaches out to many. It’s not all about shooting big bucks. Every deer is a trophy, and to some it’s so much more. Thank you Ethan for bringing us along. Learn all you can from these guys. I can’t wait to see what the rest of your season looks like.
Having someone there like Aaron is KEY. He helped him stay calm and helped him to remember what he needed to do. It's very easy to get worked up and rush the shot. Good stuff guys I wish I still had a group like that. Cherish what y'all have because it doesn't last forever.

I bought a new BEAR bow this year and took it out yesterday and shot a nice doe! My total set up cost is right around $400! I practiced for 2 hours every weekend the last 2 months and it payed off yesterday!

Love the "real" factor with these guys! As an aspiring bow hunter seeking a viable budget friendly hunting bow, I love how y'all are harvesting with a budget bow, learning from mistakes, and displaying a real hunt, with real struggles, real success, real failure, and real excitement all while using realistic equipment. And we even get to see the very real, not-so-fun, part of hauling your quarry over "heart attack hill". For those of us who can't afford a $20k-30k UTV and a guide to do the heavy lifting and hauling we can relate to the work involved. Nice job gents!

Had the bow set up at a pro shop. It performed just fine ruclips.net/user/postUgkxQEKUoxLWwayEDZR0NKB-5limn4MBU-2L . And I would say this is a good starting now that I could pass down to my son when he is older.But the package was missing the release and a nock was missing from one arrow.Dealing with customer support was terrible. They suggested I buy a new release rather than correct their own quality control issue because it’s to expensive for the. to ship it out from China.Update: manufacturer got back to me and resolved the issue. I retract the above statement.

ALWAYS lower bow with quiver hood pointing down!
Keeps nocks protected!
Pro tip#2 dont have string so long that bow even touches the ground

Always raise bow with nocks pointing down to avoid grabbing branches.
Pro tip #5 always carry a few rocks to throw at the deer if all else fails

I paid 400 for my bow and arrows and I killed 6 deer with it nothing wrong with low priced bows
I purchase high end bows used when they are a few years old. You can get a great deal for half the cost when it was new. New string and D loop and I'm ready to go. Hell, I'm shooting a 10 year old Mathews Reezen 6.5. Got it from eBay for $350. Last year In mint condition.

I purchased a Mathews Reezen 6.5. when I purchased it was 8 yrs old but couldn't pass it up for 315. I believe when it came out it was the fastest bow on the market at around 330fps.
I purchased a 20 year old Hoyt for $150 at an archery store. I've killed 7 deer with it in the last 5 years. You can do almost anything cheaply if you are willing.
