I've been watching you guys for a little over a year now. The Iowa opening weekend episode is one of the more entertaining episodes to watch! I laughed so hard at the one hunter yelling at the deer to get out of the tall grass! Hunting public land opening weekend scares me! It's no different in southern Wisconsin....tons of hunters, so opening weekend I never hunt public land. I'd rather have the "sloppy seconds" on public land the second week of the season than hunt with a bunch of orange surrounding me!

You don't have to clean after every shot with a ML. All you have to do is check to make sure you gun shoots the save POI with a dirty bore. I always check for dirty bore impact after getting the gun dialed in which I do on a clean bore. So far I've seen no impact change from clean to dirty. If you haven't checked that then you made the right call. If I do shoot a deer and reload while hunting I clean it immediately when I get home to stop corrosion.
I agree, been a muzzle loader hunter for a while, started back when percussion cap and flint lock rifles were all that was legal. The new 209 primers and powders allow you multiple shots without having to clean. In the past we would 'foul' the barrel and sight in from there. Then, on opening day, everyone would foul there barrels before we left camp.
Amazing videography. Nobody does it any better than your group does and I enjoy the hunts and learn something in every video. After 40 years of deer hunting I have changed my way of thinking and appreciate my opportunities even more. Keep it up and be safe out there with the Orange Army around.

I just want to say a big thank for sharing your passion and the great content that you put into your videos. I feel that the RUclips world is spoiled because we have the THP to mentor us. Thank you and have a great holiday season.
I'm an Iowan. Iowa's new regulation regarding tree stands on public land is a crock. May be set up 7 days prior to season and must be removed by 7 days after season. It gives an individual the legal right to public land. Bull!!!! Carry the stand in the day of your hunt and carry the stand out at the end of the day. No one individual should be able to "lay claim" to a piece of public land for the length of a season. If you want to do it that way, hold a public lottery and let that individual pay dearly for the spot. POLITITIONS
If they ever take it out at the end of the season ... It usually ends up with more trash in the woods. Beautiful forests in Northern MN but some spots are full of old trash in the trees ... Can't imagine what it would be if it would be legal ...
Awesome hunt!!!! Great buck!!! And that fool that calls himself a hunter taking a pop shot at the buck from that far with other hunters behind him in his sight, makes me absolutely grateful I don't have to hunt public land. Some of them guys are just ridiculous.
@@TheHuntingPublic Thats a poke with a muzzleloader! Great shot and what a stand up guy letting that guy have the spot even tho you were there first. You were rewarded with a great buck as well! Congrats and I hope one day I get to run into your group during a hunt somewhere in some state!
CHRIIIIIIST ALMIGHTY! Welp, you boys ain’t worrying bout me coming up there for that horse race. Forget that. Freakin nimrods walk-in on you all over the place. Nope. I’m out.
I'm always hunting on a clean barrel. Even with blackhorn the barrel can corrode. I want my 1st shot at the range to be my tell on how the gun shoots. Clean, cool, repeat. Its a PAIN in the butt but I dont want a "loaded" gun sitting for days with a dirty barrel. Every year I tell myself that this is the reason why we have evolved with technology away from muzzleloaders....
My first year hunting Iowa (Michigan hunter) I sat all day and the drivers went by me about 11 am. At 3 pm all the deer that they had been pushing into a giant herd came back passed me. I got the biggest one in the group, must have been 50 plus deer and 5 bucks over 130". I got a 155" 13 point. It was a fun day in the woods for this Michigan boy.
To be honest, I wish all states would ban deer drives. Reason 1, most of the people doing the drives just don't care that there is another hunter in the section that they are going to drive. # 2, way to many hunters in the woods now days and a lot of unethical hunters. Example; 400 yard shot with a shotgun or smoke pole. That's just stupidity . # 3, way to many bad shots being taken which results in wounded deer or the wrong sex of deer.
@@luckytrapper7656 thank you but I read it fine the first time. My point was, since you apparently missed it, that if you continue a precedent of states banning certain types of hunting because they carry with them a very very small risk, eventually they’ll ban even the types of hunting that YOU like in order to further eliminate tiny risks. If you’re scared stay out of the woods, but don’t go trying to get other people’s family traditions banned. And maybe go meet and talk to some of those hunters in the parking lot. You might just find out they aren’t near as dumb and reckless as you’re trying to paint them
@@jacksteele13 I am a deer hunter myself and a trapper. I'm not afraid of hunting and putting in the work to have a successful hunt. I'm afraid of those irresponsible people out in the woods, especially when I have had bullets whizzing by me more than once. 3 times to be exact. All three times was from hunters doing drives. They might know where the standers are but they don't know where other hunters not in their party are. I come from a family that use to do drives. Our family no longer do drives except on one little section of our own private property and I don't participate in it.

Amazing videography. Nobody does it any better than your group does and I enjoy the hunts and learn something in every video. After 40 years of deer hunting I have changed my way of thinking and appreciate my opportunities even more. Keep it up and be safe out there with the Orange Army around.
Man, that guy across from you guys scared the poop out of me when you were standing looking at the buck and then he shot. I thought that he shot at you guys. 🙏🙏🙏
I just want to say a big thank for sharing your passion and the great content that you put into your videos. I feel that the RUclips world is spoiled because we have the THP to mentor us. Thank you and have a great holiday season.
Reminds me of michigan public land. Frustrating
Aaron is a world class hunter and a world class gentleman!!
Dude, you dropped him right in his tracks. Heck of a shot. Congrats Aaron on a great cool looking buck.
You’d never see that many deer in Washington State. Can’t imagine how fun hunting is with deer densities that crazy.
Nice buck and fun to watch. The buck on the horizon at 3:22 looked like he had a tumor or something hanging down below his neck.
Awesome hunt!!!! Great buck!!! And that fool that calls himself a hunter taking a pop shot at the buck from that far with other hunters behind him in his sight, makes me absolutely grateful I don't have to hunt public land. Some of them guys are just ridiculous.
This is why we cant have nice things in Iowa.
Nice job working the pressure and using the terrain in your advantage. I just love it when a plan comes together👍
Hey Aaron, I either missed you say how far the shot was, or you didn't say. Just that was the farthest you ever shot a deer. Keep up the great work!!
Thanks. 170 yards
@@TheHuntingPublic Thats a poke with a muzzleloader! Great shot and what a stand up guy letting that guy have the spot even tho you were there first. You were rewarded with a great buck as well! Congrats and I hope one day I get to run into your group during a hunt somewhere in some state!
Not trying to play favorites but... I really enjoy you and Gregs videos the best. Great footage and great shooting.
CHRIIIIIIST ALMIGHTY! Welp, you boys ain’t worrying bout me coming up there for that horse race. Forget that. Freakin nimrods walk-in on you all over the place. Nope. I’m out.
Thank you for highlighting the Jackassery of public lands... it’s entertaining watching you guys learn to hunt as you go
You don't have to clean your gun after a shot
Certain muzzleloaders can be iffy on that second shot-so not wasting your guaranteed shot on a coyote is understandable
Aaron and Greg .... that's the "Dream Team". Great job on a super video. Made my night.
I thought Wisconsin and Minnesota were bad for the amount of people...
Yea wi has gotta be the worst
I never see anyone where I hunt in Mn. Public. 15 years and counting at the current spot.
@@dakotaborn6774 let me guess it’s somewhere way up north we’re there hardly any people
@@dakotaborn6774 you’re lucky then lol. The southeastern portion here gets hammered.
@@connorklevesahl7846 nope. It’s north but not far north.
So should they just ban gun hunting? That would answer all 3 of your reasons.
@@jacksteele13 No. Just deer drives like my reply says. Read it again!
So what I am trying to say is ban it on public land.
Way to go Warb! Great shot! Fun video to watch, talk about hunting some heavily pressured land, wow haha!
I can't believe that guy shot at him.
Agree. 🤦🏼♂️
Nice buck. Y'all set the bar high. Great job and can't wait for the next hunt.
