I just bought one because of it's size and weight and the "old" sensor. In times, where everyone pushes the pictures in post to a vintage look, it doesn't matter imo. For me, this is like a DSLR with all the pro's of a mirrorless camera in a small body, perfect for my small hands. There are some flaws, but they didn't bother me.
There are a few cons that were missing, that imo make the RP not worth it from an overall performance pov. The sensor: its pretty bad. Its not just the low light performance. Its the dynamic range too. Its so bad, its on par with the 5d mark ii from 2008. Speed: in focus priority mode, the camera drops to a measly 2.6 fps. This is slower than most rebels which are at 3fps. The lens costs: someone looking at the RP presumably has a smaller budget. And RF glass is expensive. In this type of price range, its normally better to stick to apsc or a dslr to have more money for lenses. If someone already has an RP, great. Can the RP take great photos? Yes of course, any camera can. But would you be better off looking elsewhere if you value performance and camera files better than what 2008 offers? Yes, i believe most would be better off avoiding the Rp
@@chad4826 I mean, at the time it was pretty great, yes. But not by modern standards. The fact that even an old d3200 has more peak Dynamic range, and an 11 year old d7200 has several full stops more dynamic range, doesn't speak well to the sensor from a technical perspective. Especially when you remember both of those are apsc cameras. Besides, if someone wants a camera just for stills, they'd be better off getting a DSLR. A d610 is twice as fast, half the price, has cheaper lenses, and sensor wise, has as much dynamic range as an R5 mark ii
I bought it from Dubai for 1000 dollars body. I was surprised that the firmware is 1.6.2. Since the official CANON website only has firmware 1.6.0!!! What is the difference between firmware 1.6.0 and 1.6.2?
I have no idea, maybe it depends on when you bought it. What I’ve been seeing is that if it’s bought in recent years it comes with a different firmware. Mine is 1.6.0. online I see that’s what is available.
@@stupendously_creative Canon is fooling around. On their official website they have the latest firmware 1.6.0. But on RP they install 1.6.2. Why not put 1.6.2 on their website. And many RPs already have 1.6.3.

@@JuanSanchez-zz3me thank you for this.
The 5d Mark ii sensor was not bad. This camera is actually pretty great for stills.

Problem when use external flash (godox tt685) burst frame rate slowing down to 3 fps 😢, no infrared af asist.
Have you tried lowering the power of the flash?
@@stupendously_creative sure, used 1/128 manual.. try yours. I dont have any another flash to try.. but when i tried to 1d mark iv, flash is normal

Ive been having the rp for about yr and i was wondering what lenses do you use?
