I flipped a school bus.

- One simple slip turned very dangerous when a sharp edge sliced the end of my small intestine open. One of the dangers of having an ileostomy (or colostomy as well) is that the intestine in completely unprotected outside the body, so you have to be a little extra careful with it.
Luckily it seems to be healing just fine on its own. It’s a few days later as I write this and most of the pain is gone, but it was a good reminder how quickly things can change when you least expect it.

I am a 100% disabled combat vet and sometimes I let that immobilize me. After watching your "shit happens" video, I feel encouraged to get off the pity pot and get things done! Thank you for the great example you always are.
do what you can, never give up. anything is better than nothing.. im not disabled, but have work injuries, i manage, but dont want to get any worse,,it aint gona get better.. the older you get.. 66..
Mike, as another DAV don't let the disparaging thoughts drag you down. With that definitely stay away from the cocktail of "medications" offered or otherwise. Close to 15 years ago I was given pain meds, not a fix for the problems. I refuse to be addicted to them, so no thanks for them or to them. Yes I was being S### on by the V.A. where I was for quite some time with here's 2 different high dose narcotics. Take them, and come get more as you need or want them, but we don't give a F###.
Life is short and needs to be lived, seen experienced.
I understand where your coming from, I've got a spinal cord injury diagnosed incomplete quadriplegic I have to force myself every day to get up and move. Some days are better than others but it's worth the pain
100% disabled means vegetable status.
6:08 "This thing is going to fight us every way it can." If you wrapped a chain around me and dumped me on my side, I'd probably be somewhat annoyed and look for ways to get even too.
I have an ostomy too and I felt your pain as soon as I saw you slip. 😢
Geez Casey get yourself to a Dr. Infection isn't an option......😢😢❤
Prefer vehicle drama over physical Casey drama. Hope it heals well.
it says he posted this an hour ago. how did you comment 10 days ago? lol

Your attitude of, it hurts sitting on the couch, or getting it done. Shows a lot about your character. Stay safe and heal.
Yes, you made more work for yourself. No more shaking hands with danger! Hope you didn't cause any serious damage. Funny how we can grow to care about people we've never met, but we do. Be well Casey.
I got definitely concerned when he fell and touched his stomach because I knew he has the bag there. Yes it's strange how we connect with people we never met or know personally.
Debatable, putting on and removing the chain “parking brake” is far easier than removing a drive shaft after the rollover, and depending on the strength of the busses parking brake it may not have been enough to stop it from rolling forward during the rollover in which case he would have to throw those chains anyway.
Been there done that Casey, friend please be careful, I ended up with internal bleeding under same circumstances, while fishing a rope got tangled just when I gave throttle on boat, I thought no big deal 12 hrs later I was in hospital.
Casey! This is a perfect example of the difference between men and boys and the size of their toys! Thumbs UP Casey!
I have worked on buses 46 years. several buy outs different contractors. We have had some small wreckers single axle. One of our mechanics / wrecker driver could not get the wrecker to stay in place to pull a bus from ditch , so anchored the front to a tree up the ditch. When he pulled the winch (not in a straight line) it flipped the wrecker over on it's right side into the ditch. We had to hire another wrecker to save our wrecker and get the bus out.
String line effect. The same reason the middle section of a train will roll over in a curve
And that is one of the reasons you never want to anchor the front of your truck to something like that.
No job is so important, no service is so urgent, that we cannot take time to preform our work safely. Words to live by.
Bell System.
Still going to have to crawl under it to get chain out
Understandable accident, Casey... - Get well soon, Sir...
Personally, I will always assume the parking brake is failed: it won’t work. So what you’ve done to remove the driveline early doesn’t hurt anything it’s just saving yourself from rolling in the gravel.
When life reminds you that you are not indesturctable, listen. You were close to home where you could get cleaned up and put things back together. Now you know how much you will need on the side of the road if you tear yourself open again. Not the training you thought, the bus flip worked , keeping you alive, even better.
I work at a hospital and I change ostomybags and teach patients how
to live with these bags. You are a perfect example that it is possible! Thanks for all Your videos, comments and opinions! (I live in north of Sweden)
You are correct. Picture fixed pieces of steel, going from the upper frame rail (on its side), welded to a piece going under the side of the bus, welded to a piece going across the roof. When you pull at the roof on the opposite side of the bus, the only force is acting on that point. Replace the steel with a synthetic winch cable (see what I did there?) and it's just the same.
You would have to have snatch blocks in the trees behind the bus to re-route the force around the bus.
Nailed it. The force pulling on the bus will always be at the point where the rigging touches the bus and the angle it comes off at. The termination of the hook point beyond that makes absolutely ZERO difference
Precicely, the direction of the force on the bus is in-line of the cable where it leaves the bus
Time for inventing kevlar tacti-bag active wear ! Joking aside that looked worrisome!
As an RN who has seen plenty of folks with ileostomy/colostomy, I've often clutched my pearls at some of the predicaments you find yourself in.
Damn Casey I was just getting ready to say you are a little spider monkey then you go sliding down the side of the bus. Please be careful you have two beautiful ladies in your life that need you around that and a bunch of RUclipsrs who like your videos.
Thanks for tuffing it out and posting another interesting video!👍
THAT hurt,hope you recover ok.👍👍
One of the best towing channels with straight boom wreckers ive watched is Sumter Wreckers. Mr Hal and crew have two 50 ton V 100 wreckers, as well as other trucks. They are top notch for experienced operators. Lots of channels have rotators. Small communities cant always afford to have a rotator. Nice to see professionals getting it done with the regular big iron. Caseys town is probably lucky to have him with his equipment.
Naw Casey's town has a couple rotators!
"So we are going to continue..." such is life, my dude. Hope you heal up okay.
pretty much how life goes without an ostomy too. shit happens.
Hope all is okay. You are an inspiration to others. I really admire that you are not afraid to share your ostomy with us all
I hope the injury you sustained was not too bad and it heals with no complications. Stay safe and healthy.
'without damage to equipment or injury to personnel'
I was so hoping on the first question to Eathan was for him to say. Go home safe.
Not a question
Casey, I hope you are well after that incident. That not what the mean when they said "you have to put more of yourself into your videos."
You are spot on with the first contact area(from tow truck) as being your leverage point. That point may change as the bus roles but it is always where the chain first contacts the bus.
As for pulling on the window frame, this is a rolled bus it's already damaged. So why not. Buses are built pretty tough for a reason. So why not.
Glad that you didn't hurt yourself worse than you did. I was busy watching the block on the rear axle - you could see the tires bite into it, so your placement was perfect.
Take care of you Casey!! Heal well and fast.
I hope all is well. Recover quickly. My prayers are with you.
I am disabled and in pain most of the time.. I let my pain keep me from doing stuff... I never really thought about that sitting in my chair it still hurts so I might as well be doing something... thanks for the inspiration.. hope you're ok
Ouch! Stay safe man! Good morning from Sweden.
I started watching when you were just beginning. Nice to see your doing so well. Congratulations.
Love watching you... you are so informative, knowledgable, and good at what you do! Thank you!
Praying 🙏 I hope you heal up quickly and with less pain Godspeed.
Oh wow. Prayers for you Brother! I hope everything is ok!
Glad your doing this style of training for your helper and to help us to learn more
I hope You are OK . I am praying for a quick recovery, Bless You Casey.
I'm sad you were hurt! I hope you have a speedy recovery!
You are APPRECIATED !
NUF SAID !
Please let us know you are ok in a future video. I watch all of them and will keep you in my thoughts. Thanks for sharing. Feel better.
Good job Casey! Hope you weren't hurt too badly.
Dang, you’re one tough dude. Praying you heal quickly!! I love this training. I will never use it but it’s really cool!😎
Truly amazing the amount of effort you will spend to provide your viewers with real world recovery education. Hope you fully recover soon.
Stay safe Casey and your Practise is awesome ....
One of your best videos Casey, really learnt something from your excellent teaching techniques. Long may it continue. 👍🏽😎
I hope your doing well casey and no serious injuries or infections. Your health is more important than our entertainment.
Great video and excellent explanation as usual. Hope the slip and impact was not major. Thanks again for what you do and for including us!
One of the things I've come to appreciate after watching your vids is the simplicity, strength and usefulness of chains! Sorry about the injury. I have no doubt your wife worries constantly about you!
Hope you're well Casey and your injuries heal ok! 🙏
Stay in The Blessing. Pray all is well for ya.
Glad you are healing alright! Sadly sometimes we all have training and work accidents even if we try to avoid them. Hopefully you have a great weekend!
I have Crohns. This one slide you did there, rocked me good! Whew.
About 5 different doctors (over the course of many years) have told me I can get an ostomy bag for way less pain..... thing is, it's my small intestine that's affected mostly. So where to put it then? Answer: on your continuously shortening end of small intestine. I've said no, because so far in over 30 years, I managed to lose only ONE 6 inch part of that small intestine.
And I think I cannot be like you. The things I see you do, scooting under trucks on gravel and what not, and this, today. I'm glad to read you are healing okay!
Also... Im on my belly 24/7... I don't see them connecting the ostomy bag on my back. But if I ever get one, I will most definitely be taking some pointers from your "ease" with it. Or dig an ostomy size hole in my mattrass. LOL.
🙃
I am very thankful to not have been forced to get one yet. (out of medical necessity I mean.)
I got backed into the corner from Crohn`s of small and large intestines, the perferations caused fistulas and not pleasant, choice have ileostomy and get to live a normal life,41 years later, right decision, the longer the intestines are inflamed that causes liver problems down the road.
Get well soon!!! 😢
OH CASEY!!! That scared me for you. PLEASE make sure all is ok. Praying for you.
Hope you’re ok & healed up soon Casey!
Casey be careful my friend. Don't need you to get injured more.
You always make it look so easy, a true professional at work. Thanks for the excellent education.😊
Hope you didn't do anything bad to yourself, I have a family member with that same situation and I know how it can bother you for awhile while it heals so I hope the best of luck to you and healing! It's good to see Ethan learning and enjoying it, not many people get the chance like fhat! Keep up the good work, hope all goes well healing!
I hope you heal well. Take care of yourself Casey.
I hope your'e ok. Nice job getting the bus on it's wheels. Please stay safe!!
I love how you rub dirt on it and keep on moving hope you're okay
Thanks for the video! Heal soon amigo! 🤠
Prayers for healing quickly!
Looking forward to hearing about your quick healing in your next video! Please take care.
You're an amazing guy, Casey. I hope your injury wasn't too serious. You should. be back. to 100% in no time. All my best wishes.
Take care of yourself Casey! 🙏
Your family needs you. 💕
Casey should just say “I’m right, you’re wrong, that’s the end of the story.” 😂
Great content. Your a trooper. I hope your OK.
Casey you showed us accidents can happen even during training. I hope the bleeding stopped, you didn't need to go to the ER, and you heal quickly without getting an infection. Thank you for finishing the video. Not sure I would have done so as quickly as you did.
Well done. 10 point perfection. Stay safe Casey.
That took me by surprise. Hope you’re ride in the morning gives you some healing time.
Great video, hope all is well with you.
Ouch. Hope your ok Casey.
Good job Casey and you take care of yourself and I'm sure you will be up and doing stuff just fine have a good rest of the day
Holy Ballz.... as soon as you started to fall I gasped, thinking about all of the potential harm that could have suffered. whew!!! Hopefully it will heal well for you.
That made my stomach hurt! Hope everything is ok. I didn't know tow truck drivers trained like that.
Prayers that you are ok , Casey
Great video hope you're making a good recovery on that injury.
Praying for quick healing
This was interesting about the flipping the bus. So, I will pray that you heal up and please stay safe, warm/cool, and blessings. Have a Safe and Happy Easter.
Talking about your ostomy bag and you say, "Shit happens sometimes." Casey, I know you didn't intend to make a pun, but you sure can be witty and funny even when you don't try. In one second I went from feeling so bad for you and being truly worried about you . . . to laughing out loud, literally. I admire you, brother for not letting the "shitty" things in life get you down. God bless you, brother, and may He heal and protect you and your beautiful family. ❤🩹❤
That was a scary fall. Good that you are ok!
Good to hear you're doing better..
Excellent! Take a break. Awesome video! Speedy recovery from the little stumble. 😊
I hope you're not internally injured Casey. Thanks for the video.
I hope all is well, Casey!
Be well and more careful
Regardless of the driveline removal or not, adding the chain to the rear wheel ensures you are not counting on the transmission staying in gear (manual), or park (automatic) as case may be. edit: Also hope the flange attachment is all good.
Correct, and being an open differential, even if the driveline was locked up, the upper wheel could have just spun backwards and allowed the ones on the ground to roll anyways
Dude! Heal well, Casey.
Great training. You know now the do's and don't and how to be careful. Go and take care of yourself, Casey. Hope you and your family and Ethan's family have a very happy Easter weekend.😊😊😮
This was a really good idea Casey. Just think how if you ever have to do this in reality, it will look like you know what you are doing because you do. Hope the hurts heal quickly.
Careful out there Casey
Good to hear you are on the mend! Great explanation on the rigging and great result. Successful training session, but next time without Murphy cropping up to injure you!
You and I have the same opinion, it hurts just as much on the couch as it does doing something. So may as well try to get something done.
Excellent video for being in pain. I never knew you had a bag the way you're always diving under and jumping over things. Best of luck and a quick recovery.
Good work. I like towing and recovery videos, but have not seen the rim sling to frame parking brake. Totally makes sense, though.
It's good when practice is hard. The real world is unpredictable, and assuming things will be a certain way is gonna go bad.
Exactly, the more problems and situations we run into during practice the better
Take care of yourself and get better soon.
Please be careful Casey, we need you!🥰
🙏 your ok Casey,your a good guy.
Shit happens.😮 heal quickly,God bless you.I enjoy your channel.
Hopeyou are ok........ Great teaching video...... Take Care!!!
I do hope you’re alright after that mishap.
Turn over of the bus went great!
I hope you went to the hospital 😮My husband has a ostomy and if it’s bleeding 🩸 bad it’s not a good thing. Prayers for your recovery and all is good ❤
