We had a wonderful walk on the Superior Hiking Trail here in Minnesota From Leveaux Mountain through Temperance River and Cross River to Cook County RD 1.
About a 19 mile stretch. Did 14 miles on day. Awesome...yes, I typed awesome. Cold weather abounded. But we lucked out and got lots of sunshine too.

Great hike Shug. My kind of scenery with all those waterfalls. Enjoyment was had.

It's nice to see "young pup's" on an adventure with the more senior hikers, gives prospective. They were all fired up then seemed to slow down and enjoy toward the end, it's also nice time to share experience with new hikers when they are open to it.

Checking out your Leveaux Mt. area vids, too. Scenic overlooks should be nice in a couple weeks. Not looking forward to cold muddy trail, though. Gonna bring back up footwear, I guess.
BTW, I first caught on to your videos back in November, shortly after my daughter was born. We passed hours every day watching you sip Medaglia D'Oro, munch Pahp Tairts, & sing silly songs in the woods with your pals Kent & Wand'rin Fool (not so much singing with Stormcrow, Alex & his buds - they are a serious lot!)...
Now my girl is nearly a year old. She dances to your mandolin vids & makes funny faces at your Karl Childers impressions. We saw you at the Minnesota State Fair this year and that was super fun!

Looks like a nice trip. Missed this in my feed, just found it when I thought, I haven't seen a video from Shug in a while (and I'm wearing my Shug shurt!). Great advice on picking up a little something for the old lady when your out an about without her. Those little things add up.

Man that river was SOMETHING!! I live in Ontario and this summer I'll be doing a circumnavigation of lake superior in my car, stopping to do some canoeing and hiking in the boundary waters too. Gonna be AWESOME ;)

Great video as usual, brings home a recent race with my two sons across the beach, that I lost.... I'm 48 now and just realised I'm not s fast as the young uns.. but tortoise and hare makes me smile when there're just as beat at the end of the day. Keep on trucking.

Great scenery Shug good to be out. Doing an outer tonight myself. My two tarp idea just overkill think due in great part to not enough out doors. An much too much wind. Wool blanket is a new addition helps retain the heat. Got to know my limits. Keep them coming. Hammock cooking is great! :-) I never knew cooking could be this fun lol.

Went on a trip to visit my mom in southern Illinois 2 weeks ago. I was walking in the parking lot to go to the local mall and was wearing your shirt. Out of nowhere I hear a loud "WOOOO BUDDDDY" from a passing car. Not sure if another Shug fan, or just read the wording on the t-shirt, but it was nice either way.

13-14 miles, that's a good walk for sure. I have a good buddy that I go on trips with and his max is 12 miles. He's a grizzly bear after that. The "dudes" are built for walking.

I feel surprisingly great. Didn't even get that sore. I went for a run last night only 4 days after and feel good to go baby!

***** ...no dullard, not from where I sit. I've lived on the American River for over 40 yrs. Take the dogs running, and the kids along the horse trail at night. From where I sit, people like Bruce Jenner, the girl with the big boom, making millions on superficial stuff need to take a lesson from people like you, as I do. I guess my point was, the world is a mixed up place, your hikes and experiences allow me to relate. The hollywood stuff I'll never understand, and I think they could learn a lesson or two from you.

Love the mixed northern hardwood forests in this video. I spent some time in Algonquin Provincial Park a lifetime ago and truly enjoyed experiencing a different type of forest complex. Down here in PA its almost all broad leaf deciduous except where you can find stands of white pine and hemlock that weren't logged over back in the 19th century. I don't know WHAT the mountains here are going to look like once we lose all the ash trees...maybe the old growth trees will return. But with climate change already impacting plant and animal species, who knows...thanks for the vid Shug

I sat down and was watching a few of your videos. My grandson likes to sit on my lap and watch bushcraft videos with me (he'll be 3, June 22). Anyway, what ever one I was watching you were jumping around being the total odd ball we all love. My grandson loved it. He looked at me and said "grandpas he's as goofy as you are". So being the most awesome grandpa that I am, I immediately subscribed. We have to stick together. Oddball people are fun and sincere, zany and loveable. Looks like it was a great hike! Great advice on bringing the ladies something back. Happy wife, happy life. Since I learned about PackIt Gourmet from you, I feel I should let you know about some meals I tried that were really good. They're called Good-To-Go out of Maine. They aren't as fancy as PackIt, but they've got a lot of flavor and easy to make. I love sleeping near water like that, its always the best sleep. Whoo Buddy!
